Chapter 5: Chapter 5 - Ambition
Sabuko woke up in his parents' house.
The physician said it was mild chakra depletion and sleep exhaustion. Strangely, though, there were no signs of strain—not even microtears in his chakra system—despite the way he'd reportedly pushed himself.
Not unheard of, the woman added. Some chakra systems handle stress better than others.
Still, he was advised to avoid jutsu or chakra-heavy tasks for a few days.
Sabuko didn't argue. He slept for two more days straight.
'Welp... Guess I'm not Naruto, after all.'
Once he was recovered enough to walk, he came face to face with his father.
"Sabuko. Sit here," his father said, remaining seated at the table in the living room, his mother beside him with a worried expression.
'...Serious talk incoming,' Sabuko thought as he sat at the opposite end of the table, facing them.
"Sabuko. First—how are you feeling?" his father asked, folding his arms. His voice was stoic and stern, his face unreadable. His mother looked down in concern.
'Thanks, Takos. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't even know how to talk to this guy… A guy who acts all formal to his son who just collapsed. I dislike him already.'
"I'm feeling fine, Father. Thank you," Sabuko said, offering a small bow.
"Good. You worried your mother."
"I know," Sabuko replied immediately. "I apologize. I wanted to train really hard, so I asked Takos for help to make sure I got the Bunshin no Jutsu right."
"...Very well. Leave that matter aside for now. We're proud that you passed."
"Thank you, Father," he nodded.
'He's an important businessman who values etiquette. Takos said I was always polite and formal with my parents. Especially my father.'
"Another matter. At your graduation... why did you go talk to that... boy? We told you to stay away from him."
'Hmph. Seems like he's struggling not to curse at Naruto here.'
"I was tired that day, Father. Too tired to make any reasonable judgment. When I was in that state and saw him all alone, I thought... just what did he do to deserve that?"
His mother blinked at him; her eyes softening.
"...It seems you are preemptively excusing your behavior." His father said.
'Behavior,' He internally scoffed, 'Talking to a kid that was all alone is behavior now, old man?'
He took a breath.
'Relax. All the villagers were cold like that when it came to Naruto. And this is my father. I should play it right with him to live a life of luxury.'
"Maybe. I know you hate that I got near him, after all, Father." He looked him in the eye.
"..." His father sighed deeply.
"That boy is a bad influence. A ruffian. A troublemaker who doesn't take things seriously. That is why I, and every parent, want their children to stay far away from him."
'... But fuck me if that's not ticking me off. Always had.'
"Odd, Father."
"...What is?" he asked.
His mother raised her head, surprised by Sabuko's tone.
"When I broke the vase over there a few years ago... you beat me."
She flinched at the memory, looking away.
"Right. You had to be disciplined so you wouldn't do it again."
'Fucking retarded piece of shit... Tsk... Calm down... Calm down... He's not worth it. Life of luxury, remember...'
Sabuko's eyes darkened for a moment, rage surging through him—before it went quiet just as fast.
"Right," he said, calm again. "When you do bad things, you get disciplined. But grown-ups would still hate him even if he did try his best. Why's that?"
"..."
"Because we all know that deep inside, he's just a good-for-nothing monster."
"Monster, huh? What an odd thing to say, Father—"
"ENOUGH. You will stay away from him, and that is FINAL. Are we clear? He's a monster through and through. I don't want him infecting you—you, who's destined for greatness."
"..."
Sabuko took a breath. "Yes, Father. I understand."
"Good." His father leaned back in the chair with a sharp sigh. "Tsk. How could Iruka-sensei pass that lowlife Naruto…"
"Dear…" his wife said gently, trying to soothe him.
'...YES.' Sabuko clenched his fist, a surge of excitement shooting through him. 'If he passed, that means we're past the point he learned the Kage Bunshin from that scroll. I can learn it from him. All I have to do is find him.'
'Thank fuck this is over... I almost lost it.'
"Alright, good night father."
"One last thing," his father added just as Sabuko stood up.
Sabuko stopped just before heading into his room.
"I've told you before, but you can't join a Genin team if you decide to work for me. And vice versa. It's one or the other. Your future won't be secured if you choose to become a Shinobi."
"..."
'Hardliner scumbag.'
"I've decided. I want to improve my ninjutsu."
His father stared into him, letting the silence stretch between them.
"...Is something this meager... really," he finally asked, "your ambition?"
"Yes," Sabuko replied without hesitation. "I want to learn the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu. And master it."
"For what purpose? That's a high-rank technique. Unless you reach Jōnin, you'll never be permitted to learn it. And you don't come from a shinobi clan, nor do you show any particular talent in ninjutsu. Reaching that level isn't realistic. Why would you throw your future away chasing a technique you'll never be allowed to touch? Give it up, Sabuko."
'Give it up, he says. Tch... if only I could tell him that I just wanna get railed into a coma by a hundred mommy-dominant foxgirls with massive cocks while I live life transformed as some tiny, pampered girl.'
Sabuko sighed.
'Either way, I need to be around people skilled in ninjutsu in case I hit another wall... and because I want to create a Transformation Jutsu that's permanent and does not drain chakra or concentration over time—like the Kage Bunshin. That won't happen unless I'm near truly talented shinobi.'
'But saying that'd just get me locked in a psych ward.'
"...Because it's cool," Sabuko said flatly.
'Not a lie, technically.'
"..."
His mother stifled a quiet laugh, turning away so her husband wouldn't see.
"I didn't raise you to be so reckless. Doing something just because it's 'cool'—that's laughable. You won't be able to take this decision back. You understand that, don't you? I won't support you if you regret it later."
'Support? From a piece of shit who thinks beating your child is "education" for an accident? Who gives ultimatums instead of guidance? Who actively discourages their child with shit like: "I won't be there for you if you screw up"? Yeah, fuck off. I don't need your support. I'll use Kage Bunshin to its fullest. Naruto barely scratched the surface… there's so much more it can do. But those complaints are too big for one thought bubble.'
"Yeah. I know. You raised me to be independent," he said, eyes locked on his father's. "I've decided. Is that all, Father? Or…"
"What is it? Spit it out." His father commanded, his voice grounded.
'... Ah.. Fuck it. I'm not going to torture myself under this man.'
"…Since I'm choosing to be a Genin, would you prefer I not sleep in the house anymore?" Sabuko glared.
His mother gasped.
'Come on. I fucking dare you. I'll just go live with Takos.'
His mother gripped his father's sleeve tightly, nearly glaring at him now.
The man pressed his lips together, folding his arms.
"After all," Sabuko added, "by your own words… you don't intend to support me in any way, right?"
"...."
"H-Honey, your father didn't mean—"
"...Correct," his father cut in, shaking off her arm. "And since you're being disrespectful, you're hereby forbidden from sleeping here starting tonight." His voice tightened.
"HONEY!" she finally snapped.
"I have no use for a son who spits at his father and bites the hand that raised him. Leave. You're no longer my son."
"...."
"Okay. As you wish, Father." Sabuko said, not missing a beat as he walked past toward his room.
'That's how these types are. Dominating fathers. They take any challenge to their authority as an insult, because their ego is more fragile than the tip of a Prince Rupert's Drop. Of course he doesn't mean it 100%. He's just reacting. He'll probably regret it in a day or two... But I'd rather stay away from someone who puts his own ego before his family.'
He packed his bag in silence.
'…Clean room. Spotless, of course.'
He found the sanitizer spray and mop.
'Of course he made me clean everything. If Sabuko of this world ever treated Takos like shit, it'd make sense. He was just… crushed.'
He left the house. His father didn't say a word.
"HONEY—" his mother tried to run after him, but his father blocked her with a firm hand.
"Don't."
"OUR SON IS LEAVING!"
"He'll come back. Kids this age are naturally rebellious. This will build character."
"—Ah," Sabuko cut in from the doorway, eyes meeting his father's.
"…."
A look of pity flickered across Sabuko's face.
"No, Father," he said quietly. "Making me leave won't make me respect you more. And I don't plan on coming back to a parent who is—"
"You were leaving." He cut him.
"...."
"Yes. I was." He gave a short nod. "Good night, Father… Mother." He looked back at her one last time, then stepped out into the night.
From inside, a bitter voice followed:
"…I should've known," his father muttered. "I should've known from the start you weren't fit to be my son."
Sabuko stopped.
'He was so sure I'd come back a moment ago. Just shows he's just desperate for control.'
"Spitting on your father. Fraternizing with Naruto. Disrespectful."
Several beats passed.
"…Anything else?" Sabuko sighed. "Another insult you wanna throw at me? Or are you maybe gonna beat me again to prove your point?"
His father's fists clenched. His face burned, jaw grinding like he was chewing on iron.
"…We'll make another boy," he growled now. "One that doesn't spit on his father. Not a mistake like you. You were always rebellious."
His mother sat motionless on the floor, hollow-eyed. Not a single word.
"Have fun," Sabuko muttered, then looked past his father.
"…Mom," He said. Informally, this time.
Her eyes lifted just a little. A faint spark behind them.
"I'm sorry. It's not personal. Okay?"
'...She at least tried for me.'
"I love you."
Her eyes widened. He gave her the faintest smirk.
'And…'
A tiny flicker of warmth bloomed in his chest.
'This is for the best. After all, I'm learning Kage Bunshin and Transformation just to make myself cum. They... Nah,'
He flinched.
'No sane parent would ever accept someone like me.'
"Hmph, had you truly loved her, you would've listened to me and stayed—HEY! GET BACK HERE! LISTEN TO ME!" his father roared as Sabuko turned and walked away.
He didn't flinch. He didn't look back.
He just walked into the night.
Crickets filled the silence.
'…Hrn. Right. Where does Takos live?'
