Chapter 29: Chapter 29 — The Fall and the First Encounter

Chapter 29 — The Fall and the First Encounter

Astrid and Shiro got up, got dressed, and headed to the kitchen, where Thor was already busy preparing breakfast. The scent of freshly baked bread and sizzling meat filled the room, mixing with the early morning light that streamed through the wooden windows of the cabin.

They sat down in the chairs beside him, their footsteps soft against the wooden floor. Thor, always quick to break the silence, couldn't resist teasing them:

— Astrid, you were a wild one last night... I almost broke the bed!

Astrid blushed immediately, the redness rising to her cheeks like a wave. She narrowed her eyes at him and raised her voice in protest, trying to hide her flustered expression:

— Shut up, you idiot!

But Thor just chuckled, completely unfazed. He reached out, grabbed her arm gently, and pulled her closer into an embrace, showering her with playful kisses in an attempt to calm her down. Astrid tried to squirm away at first, but eventually leaned into the affection, rolling her eyes with a small smile.

In the middle of all that, someone tugged on his shirt from the other side.

When Thor turned his head, he found Shiro pointing to her own lips with a pouty expression, her eyes wide and shimmering with innocent demand:

— Ni-san, me too...

Thor laughed heartily and didn't hesitate. He reached over and pulled Shiro into his other arm, hugging her tightly and covering her in kisses as well. The room was filled with laughter and warmth, like a soft moment frozen in time.

After their silly morning ritual, the three of them began eating breakfast together. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful, the kind of peace that only comes after a long journey or a shared struggle. Plates clinked softly, steam rose from their mugs, and for a moment, it felt like the rest of the world didn't exist.

As they ate, Thor suddenly remembered someone.

— We need to finish up soon, — he said, looking thoughtful. — I want to check on the girl before she leaves Astrid's house and freaks out at the sight of the village dragons.

Astrid nodded, chewing thoughtfully.

— True... If she's never seen a dragon before, she might have a full-blown panic attack running into one first thing in the morning.

— Then let's not waste time, — said Thor, taking one last bite of his bread and brushing the crumbs off his hands.

Once they finished their meal, they cleaned up quickly, then stepped out of the cabin into the cool morning air. The sky above Berk was crisp and clear, the sounds of dragons flying overhead mixing with the occasional shout from villagers starting their day.

Without delay, they made their way toward Astrid's house, where Moana had spent the night.

Meanwhile, on the other side, inside the Astrid room, Moana stood frozen near the window, trying to gather her courage.

She had woken up early, the memory of the strange creature she saw in the hallway still fresh in her mind. She clutched Hei Hei in her arms—a small comfort in a world that now felt far more dangerous than she was used to. Taking a deep breath, she stepped cautiously toward the window.

— It's okay, Moana, — she whispered to herself. — You've sailed through storms, defied the ocean itself... This won't scare you.

With Hei Hei held tightly against her chest, she opened the window slowly, trying not to make any noise. The breeze that entered the room was cool and refreshing, brushing against her face like a whisper of freedom.

Gripping the windowsill, she hoisted herself up and began to climb out, planning to sneak away quietly before anyone noticed. Her feet found a ledge, and she began to descend carefully.

But just as she looked up toward the roof, her heart nearly exploded in her chest.

A giant red dragon—fierce, intimidating, and impossibly large—was perched there, its glowing eyes locked directly on her. A Monstrous Nightmare. She didn't even have time to think.

— AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!

The scream ripped from her throat as her hands lost their grip. Her body plummeted downward.

But before she could hit the ground, something flashed—lightning cracked through the air with a loud snap. In a blur of speed and electric power, strong arms caught her mid-fall.

She gasped, eyes wide as her fall suddenly halted. She was safe. Someone had caught her.

When she looked up, her breath caught in her throat. A young man with dark hair, its tips glowing faintly like living lightning, stared down at her with calm intensity. His eyes were piercing yet warm, his smile reassuring and gentle.

He held her effortlessly in his arms, like she weighed nothing.

— Are you okay? — Thor asked softly, his voice steady but kind.

Moana's cheeks burned with sudden heat. She stared up at him, completely overwhelmed.

"He's... way too handsome..." she thought, her heart racing. — I-I think I'm okay...

Before she could say anything else, her eyes darted past him—just in time to see the dragon descending from the roof and walking straight toward them. It was huge, terrifying, its horns gleaming in the morning sun.

— Behind you! There's a monster! — she shouted, her voice full of panic, pointing desperately.

Thor turned his head without alarm and saw Storm—is dragon Astrid companion —approaching calmly, her curiosity piqued by the stranger in his arms.

— Ah... I see, — he murmured, instantly understanding.

With a calm and practiced motion, he extended one hand and gently stroked the dragon's head. Storm responded with a low, contented purr, her eyes closing halfway in bliss.

— She's not a monster, so you can relax. She won't hurt you, — Thor said, still holding Moana securely. — She's just a dragon... a little too excited to play.

He looked back down at her, locking eyes once more.

— I'm Thor. And welcome to Berk.
