Reincarnated In Ben 10

Chapter 26: Cold

"Woah! What's with that guy?" Gwen exclaimed, her eyes wide as she saw a car speeding past them. She was seated in the front seat of the rust bucket, her excitement giving way to concern.

Max took a quick glance at the rearview mirror, spotting police cars far behind, struggling to keep up with the speeding vehicle. "I don't think this is your normal reckless driving," he remarked, a hint of suspicion in his voice.

Ben, already gearing up for action, turned the dial of the Omnitrix with a confident smile. "I guess it's hero time then. XLR8 will catch up to him in no time," he said, slamming the dial. But instead of XLR8, he transformed into Upgrade. "Aw man..." Ben frowned in disappointment.

Without missing a beat, he opened the door while the rust bucket was still moving. "You guys go ahead. I'll catch up," he said, jumping out.

The rust bucket continued its pursuit of the speeding car. Gwen sighed, her frustration evident. "Why can't we have a normal day for once?" she lamented.

Driving over a speed bump, the rust bucket shook, waking Fred from his slumber. "What's with the shaking?" Fred groaned, still half-asleep.

"Looks like you finally woke up," Gwen remarked with a teasing smile.

"I was..." Fred began, but Gwen finished his sentence for him. "...up late." At this point, they were used to his late-night tech escapades.

Ben, now fused with a motorcycle, zoomed past the rust bucket, heading straight towards the speeding car. "Is Ben dealing with some bad guys again? Can't we go a day without any crime?" Fred mumbled, and Gwen echoed his sentiments.

Max laughed lightly, trying to lift their spirits. "Let's stay high-spirited like Ben."

The rust bucket parked by the street as the cops apprehended the culprit in the speeding car. "I'm telling ya, there was a motorbike driving itself! Ya gotta believe me!" the bewildered driver exclaimed.

Max scanned the area, unable to spot Ben. "Where's Ben?" he asked, concern creeping into his voice.

"I think I know where he might be," Gwen said, pointing at an ice cream truck on the other side of the street.

Opening the back of the truck, they found Ben, shivering with an ice pop in his hand. "Uhhh... You okay there, champ?" Max asked, seeing Ben's state.

"N... Ne... Neverrr betttter," Ben replied, shivering and sneezing.

"Yeah, I don't think so," Max said, shaking his head as they helped Ben back to the rust bucket.

"What were you even thinking?" Gwen scolded Ben as he lay resting, a mix of exhaustion and a mischievous grin on his face.

"Hehe, sniff. It was totally worth it," Ben replied, his voice wavering with a chuckle. "Anyway, what's with that stuff?" he asked, eyeing the items Gwen was holding.

"Protection. There's no way I'm letting you infect me with your gooey germs," Gwen retorted, holding up a bottle and some herbal concoction.

"Urgh," Ben groaned, rolling his eyes.

"You don't have to worry, Gwen. Once Ben gets my special remedy, I'm sure he'll be better in no time," Max said as he sat down next to Ben. "Come on, let's go to Chinatown," he added, giving Ben a reassuring pat. "Gwen, call Fred outside."

Gwen went to call Fred, who soon entered the Rust Bucket with a curious look. "What's with him?" Fred asked, glancing at Ben.

"Grandpa Max is going to make his Special Remedy for Ben's cold," Gwen explained with a smile.

Fred chuckled. "Welp, it was good knowing you," he joked, causing Ben to frown.

As they arrived at Chinatown, the streets were bustling with a festival atmosphere. "Let's get going. I know a couple of shops that have what I need," Max said, leading the way. They navigated through the crowded streets, stopping at various stores selling exotic foods. Ben's expression grew more disgusted with each stop.

Finally, Max handed Ben a bottle of the Special Remedy. "There, although I would've preferred it to be fresher, this will do."

"Urgh, what am I supposed to do with this?" Ben complained, taking a whiff and quickly closing the lid. "Can't I have a smoothie instead?"

Before Max could reply, screams erupted from nearby. "Not now, Grandpa. I've got..." Ben started, but Max held his hand, stopping him from activating his watch.

"You won't be going hero until you're better," Max insisted firmly.

"Aw man!" Ben sulked.

"Fred," Max called, prompting Fred to step forward. "Guess I'll handle this one," he said with determination.

As Fred transformed, Ben watched in awe. "Whoa, that one looks awesome," he remarked, impressed by Fred's new form—a fusion of Heatblast and the Mummy, with burning purple flames.

"Let's finish this," Fred declared, leaping towards the scene. The crowd panicked as a man controlling insects held the councilwoman hostage.

"Not so fast, bug br... Urgh, I'm starting to sound like Ben," Fred muttered, realizing he was mimicking his friend's catchphrases.

"Burning toilet paper?" the villain sneered.

Fred extended his flaming bandage tentacles to restrain the man, who dodged but was quickly knocked off his swarm of hornets. Fred's bandages turned and burned the hornets to cinders. While Fred freed the councilwoman, the bug man bashed him with a giant fist made of ants.

"Don't interfere!" the villain shouted, but was met with a fire tornado that erupted, burning the ants. "Let's try this again," a deep voice echoed as Ben, now a fiery alien, leaped into action, morphing into a fusion of Four Arms and Heatblast. He clapped his hands, causing a fiery wave that revealed the villain and the falling councilwoman.

Fred morphed into Big Chill, catching the woman and placing her down safely. He then returned to his Four Arms and Heatblast fusion form, meeting the bug man's attack head-on. Their fists clashed with a loud sound, but the fire's advantage soon became apparent. Fred's fiery burst burned the insects to a crisp.

"You think burning my arm will stop..." the villain started, but Fred, using his other three arms, sent fireballs to burn the remaining insects. "You were saying?" Fred taunted, transforming again into an Anodite-Pyronite fusion, creating a purple flame blanket that consumed the bug man's insects.

Fred moved closer, placing his finger on the stunned villain's forehead, forming a rune before knocking him out. "There, now that's that," Fred said with a sigh of relief.
