Chapter 15: Chapter Fourteen - Guests, The Good, The Bad And The Magic Kind
— "Midgardian time to wake up." — Somebody was moving my shoulder.
— "Are you food?" — I asked, still sleepy.
— "No."
— "Are you my mother?"
— "No." — He answered annoyed.
— "Then shut up and let me sleep." — I covered my head with my blanket.
— "How dare you talk to me like that?" — He yelled.
— "Like this?" — I said without bother.
— "Do not ignore me Midgardian."
— "I am awake now, so stop yelling Horns." — I watched him with a frown.
Emily appeared in the room wearing a loose black dress. "If either of you yells again, I will call Elise so shut up. I have stuff to do." She scolded us both.
— "But he started it." — I argued.
— "I don't care, just stop yelling." — With that, she disappeared glaring at us but with an amused smile.
— "It's your fault I got lectured." — I told him moving closer to him.
— Oh poor you, mommy scolded you." — He mocked walking around my room.
— "Shut up Horns." — I laughed when I saw Loki cursing me under his breath. — "What are you doing here princess of the rock?"
— "I came to see you, but when I arrived, you were sleeping."
— "I see. Am I worth your time? I mean you let me sleep before starting to bother me."
— "Let's say your company is not as bothersome." — He said, shrugging his shoulders.
— "I knew you couldn't live without me." — I smiled arrogantly in a joking tone.
— "Whatever you say midget…"
— "I am not a midget." — I yelled.
— "The day I have to stop looking down to see you is the day I'll stop saying it." — He said while removing his hand from my head.
— "Let's start again." — I cleared my throat. — "Oh ice giant lord, Prince of Asgard, and king of Jotunheim with homicidal issues and God of jokes. What do I owe the pleasure of your visit to my humble room?"
He gave a dry laugh. — "I was bored and what better way to fix it than to come and annoy my favorite midget."
I sighed amused. — "I guess that spending time alone in prison would bore anyone, even more considering that you have fixed furniture and a variety of books."
— "There are no books as interesting as annoying you."
— "You know what?" I placed my hand on my chin. — "I love snakes, you are lucky that you're one of them." — I smiled at him. — "But I need to help you with picking nicknames. You are horrible at it."
He sent a murderous glare at me and hissed in annoyance.
— "Martha, the boys are here. Come down." — Mom yelled from the other side of the door.
— "I'm coming." — I turned to look at the green diva. — "Well, I wouldn't say it was my pleasure to talk with you, but it was fun."
I moved away from him towards the door.
— "Whatever you say." — He fixed his clothes. — "We'll see each other soon midgardian of average normal height."
— "Don't use my words against me, insufferable princess." — I yelled to the air.
— "Martha, stop talking to yourself and come down right now." — Yelled my mom.
I left my room running, going down the stairs I met my best friends in the entire world.
— "So talking to yourself?" — Said Elliot hugging me.
— "I knew you missed us." — Continued Harry with twinkling eyes of mischief.
— "But not enough to talk to me." — Finished Noah messing my hair.
— "Oh, come on shut up." — I shoved them although due to my stature, it was more like a breeze.
— "Hi Martha." — Said enthusiastically my little Pay moving from behind the boys.
— "My little Pay I missed you so much." — I hugged him.
— "Hey, why didn't you say that to us?" — Ask the three guys at the same time.
— "My little Pay? I didn't know you guys wanted me to but let's just say you guys aren't exactly sweet."
— "We are sweet." — Elliot moved closer to me.
— "Of course." I waved my hand to erase that thought. — "But you are my little carrot, my little coffee, and my adorable but exasperating jet."
The three boys flushed while Peter was laughing clutching his stomach.
— "We are older than you." — Harriet said amused.
— "And?" — I asked confused.
— "Nothing, I just wanted to make it clear." — Answered my cute carrot.
— "And what are we doing today?" — Asked Peter.
— "Calm down Phineas." — He looked at me confused. — "We're going to make some pranks and play video games."
— "Yay." — Peter ran towards the living room quickly, followed by Elliot and Harriet.
— "You guys are already 10 years old. You grow up so fast." — I removed an imaginary tear from my eye.
— "And you are eight, our little sister smarter than Iron Man. We won't let anybody take you from us." — He gave me a side hug.
— "Nothing is gonna take me from you." 'Except maybe the snap.'
— "Let's go with them." — He took my hand with him.
— "Remember that you're staying to sleep here."
— "Of course, we need your peanut butter and jelly, midnight snacks." — With that, he joined the others who wereyelling and bothering each other.
We spent the rest of the day playing amongst each other, eating, and having fun like the children we were.
I was holding my mom's hand while we walked towards the sanctuary, talking with Emily about the plans for the company, I must say that the company has been growing since the disappearance of Dad, and said 'corpse' caused the share prices to rise.
I don't remember very well how long it takes for the can of coats that I have as a father to revive so meanwhile, I've been keeping myself in touch with his movement and everything that's happening. I even sent some of my Centinels with Pepper, wanting to stop her kidnapping, but fucking walking bombs destroyed the Centinels that I sent to take care of her, and with that plot kept going on.
— "Love, I would like it if we could spend more time together with things like your job and your lessons. We barely have time with each other." — Said my mom while I climbed her shoulders. — "It would be fun to spend some time together." — She smiled and hopefully thought about spending time together.
"Us Three you meant."
— "Right, sorry Emi. Us three."
— "Where would you like us to go?" — I asked my mom excitedly.
— "What about going to New Mexico again?"
— "Emi... I don't know…"
Mom interrupted me. — "It would be fantastic! I know of a peaceful town where we can walk around with no problems."
— "Don't you remember how a giant almost killed us if it weren't for people dressed as one of those medieval fairs?" — I asked sarcastically.
— "Of course I remember, but besides that, it was normal."
— "What is your concept of normal?"
"The same one you have Miss Martha."
— "How is it that you can sound so mocking and sarcastic?"
— "You don't want to go Martha?" — Ask my mom a little sad.
I shook my head quickly. — "Of course, I wanna go and walk around and see the desert and the cafeteria and the balls that roll."
— "Do you mean the tumbleweed?"
— "Yes, those." — I answered faking excitement.
— "Perfect, then Emi prepare the planes and inform me when everything's ready."
"With pleasure, Elise."
The rest of the walk was spent talking about the trip. I think I need to remind Emily that the commercial for Pantene won't come out until next year and maybe we could go to the beach on this occasion.
Very soon we arrived at the door of the sanctuary, which was opened by none other than my adorable Beyoncé with his inexpressiveness that charmed from a distance.
— "Welcome Martha, Miss Elise." — He said, without changing his expression.
— "Hi Beyoncé." — I greeted excited.
— "Hello Wong, how have you been?" — Ask my mom respectfully.
— "Let's go, Mom! That's how you flirt!"
— "Very well, thanks for asking."
He moved to the side to let us pass through. The entry was the same as always there wasn't anything else to say.
— "Is there somebody special in your life right now?" — I asked Beyoncé innocently.
— "Martha." — Exclaimed my mother.
— "I'll go fetch the Ancient One." — He walked towards the stairs leading up.
— "Martha why would you ask him that?"
— "I just wanted to help you know if there was competition, You two would be a cute couple."
— "We have barely spoken a few times. I don't even know his last name."
— "Love doesn't need last names."
— "There is not an us between him and I." — She answered, shifting her eyes to see if he came back.
— "Maybe not right now, but my ship will be real."
— "You have too much imagination." — She said messing my hair.
— "That makes you love me more."
— "I think you have something there." — She said pointing to my face.
— "What?" — I began cleaning my face.
— "Your ego." — Mom started laughing after seeing my face. I mean moms never make jokes like that.
I AM CORRUPTING HER!
— "Hi Elise, Martha." — Greeted the Ancient one with an amusing smile.
— "Hello Annie." — Greeted my mom.
I looked at my mom, surprised. — "You have a nickname for her."
— Of course, we are both good friends." — Answered my mom smiling.
— We have talked sometimes when Elise comes out of work," — Said the Ancient one.
— "Talking about work, I have to go. I leave you in charge of my little monster." — Mom left rushing from the place like the white rabbit.
— "Now what?" — I asked without looking at them.
— "Let's go talk in the living room. Wong, you can go back to the library."
Walking in the direction of the sofas from forever without saying another word. Wong disappeared with a portal leaving us both alone.
— "Let's talk little one." — She said with a serene voice.
— "Well, to start I want to go back in time to the moment Natasha and Clint go to Vormir for the soul gem, which is where Natasha dies. So that I can take the power first, and then return it without the need of somebody sacrificing themselves."
— "I understand that, but to get the gem the condition is a soul for a soul."
— "There must be something that is as equally precious as a soul, something that equals the price."
— "Martha tell me. Do you know how souls work?"
— "I only know that we have one." — I answered without understanding the question.
— "I have some books here, what do you think about reading some of them? And then you can tell me what you find."
— "Instead before talking about souls and books, let's talk about my gauntlet that we haven't finished the test with yet." — I said getting it out of my backpack.
She nodded in agreement. — "I will help you with what I can, but remember that it's better to combine your magic with it."
— "Ok."
I put the prototype of the gauntlet and slowly transmitted my magic into it. What I have is nothing compared to the others, but if it can't contain what I have, it won't be able to contain anything.
As an easy example, this is like materializing the chakra from my hand like the Rasengan or ki to throw energy balls, if I send too much in a hit I'll end up getting hurt but if it's too few it won't do anything.
Little by little I began to send my magic towards the gauntlet with the Ancient one's gaze directed at me, even if she wanted to use hers once she died her magic would go with her.
Everything was going well so far. I've inserted 25% into the gauntlet, 30% with no change, 35% the gauntlet begins to heat up, and 36% it is fracturing.
— "You have to stop Martha!" — Said the Ancient one.
— "I need to know how much it can handle, if it must break then so be it!"
Just a little more…
— "Be careful!" — The Ancient one removed the gauntlet from my hand before it exploded into pieces.
— "36% is not bad." — I smiled satisfied.
— You need to be careful, a little longer and you would have been hurt. You can't force it remember your age, you have the body of an 8-year-old girl if you overexert yourself you'll lose control." — She said checking my hand.
— "I know, I know that I am not a prodigy but… I need to hurry since you won't be here for long, and I don't want to step in here once that happens. I need to advance as much as possible." — I told her seriously.
— "You don't have to stop coming just because I'm not here." — She said calmly.
— "I have no plans of being Dr. Strange's friend if you are not here there is no point in coming."
— "And Wong?"
— "He was okay before me and he will be fine after."
She sighed. — "You know this has to happen."
— "It doesn't mean it will stop bothering me."
Maybe I'm exaggerating but I won't pretend everything is going to be fine I've said it already I'm not the FL she would say something like 'I understand but I want to try saving you' and then go. She saves her and then everything gets worse and blames herself and then spends the next 5 chapters being consoled by her friends after acting like an idiot and having a vision in her dream where they find each other and they forgive her, with a happy ending.
That won't happen here, and I won't try saving her. She decides to die and if she wants that, then that will be but I also feel like she is a part of me that is also leaving.
— "I'm sorry." — I lowered my head. — "I only want to take advantage of the time we have together."
— "Then we better live this for now what do you think if you and Emi come with me to read a little bit?" — She smiled at me caressing my cheek.
— "I warn you that I read fast." — I was blushing.
— "We have many books." — She smiled at me warmly.
We spent the rest of the evening reading and eating fast food. I even made the Ancient One try soda. I must say that Beyoncé should hide it if he doesn't want to lose his money in less than a week.
Addictions are bad for children so do not follow the ancient ones' example and finish a can in 30 minutes and even drink three sodas in a day.
[…]
— "Emily, any news?"
"Nothing miss, until now everything is going as planned. The company is well and Shield hasn't tried anything since the threat, except for one call from the little spider to the pirate she wants to leave the mission but is not allowed."
— "I don't know if that's a good thing or bad." — I answered looking at the ceiling.
"I will continue investigating, Mr. Stark is on his way to Trevor and War Machine has been kidnapped."
— "Perfect. I mean, it's bad for him but good for us."
"That would be all miss, rest, and tomorrow we will work on our next projects."
— "I agree."
"Good night Mara."
— "Good night, Emi I love you 3000."
"I love you 3000."
— "Come back Midgardian." — Said a dark corner in the room.
— "Welcome to my humble adobe." — I said without looking at him.
— "You sound very enthusiastic I would say." — He stood beside my bed.
— "Come on, lie down with me." — I patted one side of the mattress.
— "No, thank you."
— "I won't do anything to you, I don't like old people."
— "Neither do I like girls." — He growled.
— "Tell that to the fanfics about Loki and readers... with +18 scenes." — I whispered playfully.
— "What did you say?" — He inspected me with his gaze.
— "Shut up and lie down poltergeist."
And just as I finished talking, he laid down next to me, staring at the ceiling.
— "You have a disgusting sense of humor."
— "I know."
— "I want to say it now more than before."
— "I know… It's just complicated." — I turned to look at him.
— "You humans, as you call yourselves, make things so complicated."
— "It's part of us, I suppose." — I shrugged.
— "And then you say you don't deserve to be wiped out." — He rolled his eyes.
— "Don't start with your psychopathic royal thoughts." — He said nothing, and I continued. — "I don't believe in heroes, Loki. I'm aware that the world isn't black or white. I just want to live my life peacefully, but it's complicated. Even though I don't want to, nor do I seek to be a hero, my decisions lead me down that path." — I sighed.
— "It's obvious you think that way; you're talking to someone who killed…"
— "Eighty people in two days, I know." — I glared at him. — "Sorry, continue."
— "As I was saying, if you thought differently, you would never have approached me. But as you say, the world is gray. Maybe you're a hero, but I'm sure you'd be an unbeatable villain."
— "I don't understand what you're trying to say."
— "What I'm saying, you idiotic Midgardian, is that you live at your own pace and with your philosophy. You don't need to label yourself or torture yourself over your decisions or how they look. Just keep going, and if something happens, fix it, whether it's for better or worse."
I looked at him, surprised. — "You just gave me advice, and it was useful. Horns had feelings." — I hugged him.
The malevolent cockroach has feelings and thinks for himself.
— "You ruined the moment I'm leaving." — He moved away from me and went straight to his dark corner.
Before he left, I told him. — "Loki, I want you to teach me magic."
