Chapter 327: Wedding Invitation
Nymeria leaned against the balcony railing, her gaze upon the clear sky.
Behind her was a large field layered with different types of grass.
There are few things that don't trigger her OCD.
The clear sky without any uneven clouds is one of them.
How many hours have passed?
She doesn't know.
Her gaze never left the sky.
Nymeria vaguely remembers someone who used to help with her OCD.
Someone who always calmed her down.
Was it a boy?
A boy younger than her, perhaps.
But even if she tried, she doesn't remember his face.
It was blurred.
Hard to picture.
"Was he important?"
She muttered to herself.
Perhaps he was.
But does it matter now?
She didn't know.
"...Hmm?"
Nymeria shifted her gaze.
Someone walked toward her.
It was Irenka.
She approached, looking through the report she held in one hand.
"I have made a list of all the things you need to know for the next meeting."
Irenka informed, her voice respectful.
"This meeting could be a problem."
Being the branch family of Gerald Highbloods, Irenka had been following Nymeria since she was a child.
Her family is one of the core members who support Nerissa against her brother Lorvil.
An inner conflict within the Gerald Highbloods not many are aware of.
Nymeria took the report from her.
Skimming through it, she whispered, "You did a great job."
"Ah… Thank you."
Irenka bowed her head slightly.
Closing the report file, she looked at the sky once again.
Irenka remained silent, gazing at her.
Time passed.
Trying to continue the conversation, Irenka asked dryly.
"How long can your body hold?"
Nymeria remained silent.
Irenka waited before she asked again.
"Being an Avatar is really problematic, isn't it?"
"Not really," she replied curtly. "It isn't."
The conversation was cut short.
Irenka couldn't think of anything else to ask, neither did Nymeria bother with anything.
Because of this, Irenka sometimes had doubts.
Are they even close?
Does she even have any value in Nymeria's eyes?
"Say...." Nymeria began, her gaze never leaving the sky. "Isn't 'he' in the same year as you?"
Irenka frowned.
She took a moment to understand who 'he' was.
"Ahh, yes," Irenka replied, nodding her head. "Himmel takes Professor Lirien's class along with me."
"How is he?" Nymeria asked, her voice flat.
There wasn't any curiosity.
"Stupid. Inattentive. Racist. Unlikeable."
Irenka counted down, her voice carrying distaste.
"Is he strong?"
Nymeria asked, tilting her head.
"No. He isn't."
Irenka replied confidently.
"I see." Nymeria nodded before saying, "He is stronger than you."
Irenka frowned. "Pardon?"
She was having a hard time believing it.
Being the eldest daughter of the Melrose family, she wasn't someone to be taken lightly.
She herself was sure she could beat Himmel.
"Yes. He is strong, perhaps as strong as me."
Irenka fell into deep thought.
Is this a joke? She knows how to joke now?
"Hehe, a good one, my lady."
Irenka forced a small laugh.
Nymeria tilted her head. "Why are you laughing?"
Irenka's eyes narrowed. "Are you not joking?"
"I am not," Nymeria replied, her voice flat. "I can feel it... he is far more dangerous."
Irenka's eyes widened.
It was the first time Nymeria had acknowledged someone.
Irenka took a moment to compose herself.
"I will keep that in mind."
She said, her voice respectful.
"And I should inform—"
"No." Nymeria cut into her words. "Don't tell anyone."
Irenka had an urge to argue.
But.
She just lowered her head slightly. "As you wish."
They both remained silent.
Nymeria had her gaze on the sky.
They stood there, neither saying anything.
"Nymeria."
A voice broke the silence between them.
They both turned to look at the handsome boy walking toward them.
He had long green hair with matching eyes.
"How many times do I need to remind you, Kelvhan?" Irenka asked, her voice sharp. "Don't call her by her name."
Kelvhan's head snapped toward her. "I will call her however I like," he barked.
"Know your place—"
"I know my place, Irenka." He cut into her words. "I'm her cousin, and you are the outsider her—"
"Something you want to talk about?" Nymeria asked, cutting into his words.
Kelvhan's mood immediately shifted.
His eyes softened as he met her gaze.
"Can we talk in private?" He asked, glancing at Irenka.
Irenka turned to look at Nymeria as well.
"Why?" Nymeria asked, her gaze on him. "What's so important?"
"It's important." Kelvhan said, his voice earnest.
"I see." Nymeria mumbled.
Kelvhan's mood immediately brightened up.
"Let's go," he said, turning on his heels. "I have already booked a place for us to dine...."
His words died down.
An old man was walking toward them.
His gray hair neatly combed, wearing a butler's uniform.
His long elongated ears gave away his lineage.
"Sir Fredrick." Kelvhan whispered through his clenched jaw.
Fredrick, Nerissa's butler, glanced at him before turning his attention to Nymeria.
He bowed deeply. "My lady."
Nymeria acknowledged him.
"What brings you here, uncle?"
She asked, her voice soft.
Ever since she was a child, Fredrick had been there for her family.
Even when her mother stopped caring for her.
He was there for her.
Fredrick let out a sigh as he took out an invitation card from his bracelet.
Nymeria curiously took the card.
A wedding invitation.
"It's happening, my lady." Fredrick said, his voice grim. "The Asuras are uniting together."
Nymeria opened the invitation.
"Wait, are you saying they are... no way."
Fredrick nodded. "Yes. They are making a new empire."
Irenka frowned.
She could already see the chaos that was sure to happen soon.
"They have invited every Highblood." Fredrick continued, gazing at Nymeria. "Including the elves."
Nymeria leaned back on the railing.
Her gaze moved back toward the sky.
"It's happening, huh?" She muttered. "A new empire after a thousand years."
Nymeria blinked.
Her gaze trailed behind a streak of white against the clear sky.
She tried to focus on it.
Her lips quivered.
She remembered how her Pegasus liked that boy.
It told a lot about him to her.
But.
Why is the same boy riding a white Pegasus?
"What is this absurdity?"
********
"This is cheating!!"
Zenith's frustration echoed in my ears as I jumped down Corvina's back.
The Pegasus snorted softly, rubbing its body against mine.
"Wait!?"
I turned to look at Zenith.
She quickly rushed towards us.
"Cuddle me too."
She whispered, opening her arms towards Corvina.
The Pegasus just snorted before it flapped its wings.
Without even glancing back at her, it vanished into the sky.
Zenith stood there with her arms wide open.
Tears threatened to trickle down her face.
I walked closer, opening my arms to hug her. "Aw, my daughter—"
"Go away!" She yelled, snapping my arm. "You are the worst!"
Turning on her heels, she rushed towards Siersha before hugging her tightly.
"Why him?" She grimaced, burying her face in her chest. "Why does Corvina like him but not me!?"
"There, there." Siersha rubbed her back, her voice soothing. "It's just because he is a virgin."
I opened my mouth to correct her.
Read new chapters at My Virtual Library Empire
But.
I held back.
There was no need to correct her.
'And I have a feeling that she won't like it if I do tell her.'
"So am I!" Zenith exclaimed. Turning her head, she glared at me. "What's so special about him?"
"Maybe he died a virgin in his previous life?" Heather made a wild guess.
And oddly enough, Amaury nodded.
Fucking stupid simp.
At least think before nodding.
"I don't think that's the reason." Siersha said, still patting Zenith.
"Then why?" Zenith asked. "Why is he special?"
"...."
Nobody had an answer, so they kept quiet.
I shrugged as well.
'Any idea why, Inna?'
[<I don't know.>]
She replied, her voice soft.
'Dumb goddess.'
"Anyway, we should go back now." Elijah said as he stood up. "We have classes soon."
"Let's go~."
Heather also stood up, and Elijah helped her.
Amaury.
Poor guy could only smile.
"Come with me." Pasithea grabbed Zenith, who was dramatically shifting her weight on her.
I quickened my pace to reach beside her.
"Why were you smiling?" I asked, my voice low.
She frowned. "When?"
"When Corvina let me pat her." I said, narrowing my eyes. "I saw you grinning."
"I did no such thing." She replied, her voice calm as usual. "You are imagining things."
I glared at her but chose not to continue the conversation.
My left hand ached once again in her presence.
'Fuck, I really hate her.'
Things would have been a lot better if I hadn't accepted her offer.
Now I want more.
[<I'm more surprised that your blood didn't have adverse effects on her.>]
'Is my blood really that special?'
[<Qais, she should have been obsessed with you by now.>]
I stole a glance at her.
She was normal.
There wasn't any change in her.
'Pretty sure she isn't.'
[<That's why I'm surprised.>]
'....Yeah.'
Anyway, I need to find a new source of life energy soon.
Like really soon.
I rubbed my burning hand as I looked around.
Unable to find him, I turned towards Elijah.
"Where is Aimar?"
******
Within the grand library of the Akasha Holy Academy, a young boy moved around.
His hands were already filled with books that looked ancient.
His golden eyes scanned the place as he quickly found a quiet corner.
Without any delay, he walked towards it before slamming the books on the table.
"Huff..."
Letting out a deep exhale, he sat down before opening the first book.
It was about the gods that once lived in Lumina.
"What are you trying to find?"
A voice echoed in his head.
Aimar shook his head.
He wasn't sure if the voice was in his head or—
His head slowly turned to his side.
A young boy with the same face as him sat on a chair.
His grey eyes boring into him.
"Nothing much." Aimar whispered, his voice calm. "Just looking for clues about Horus."
"Why?" He asked, his lips curling up in a smile. "Do you think I am some kind of side effect?"
"Who would have thought." Aimar rebuked, his tone sarcastic.
"Don't believe me." He replied, leaning on the chair. "But I'm not wrong."
Aimar slammed his hand on the table. "Oliver is dead, don't try to impersonate him!"
His voice echoed within the library.
Everyone turned to glare at him.
Aimar cleared his throat. "I'm sorry."
The boy beside him just chuckled softly, placing his legs on the table.
They both sat in silence for a while.
"How is Azariah?" The boy asked, his voice low.
"....Fine." Aimar replied, unsure of the answer.
The boy nodded. "I see."
After hesitating for a while, Aimar asked, "...Do you hate him now?"
"..."
The boy didn't reply.
He just stared at the ceiling.
Aimar remembered how much Oliver liked Aaliyah.
But.....
She died in Himmel's hands.
"When are you going to kill all of the Von Castia?" The boy asked, looking at him.
Aimar frowned. "Why should I do that?"
The boy stared at him for a while before he chuckled. "I see."
"Hey."
Aimar's gaze turned to his side as he heard a voice.
A girl with long black hair and glowing green eyes looked at him.
"Elise." Aimar greeted her as he pushed a chair for her to sit down. "What are you doing here?"
"Studying." She replied. Adjusting her skirt, she sat down. "Midterms are in two weeks, remember?"
Aimar blinked, tilting his head. "Uh, what?"
"Start studying." Elise said, letting out a sigh. "At least do enough to get a passing grade."
He nodded. "....Yeah."
The boy, who was looking at them curiously, chimed in.
"Oye, brother." He said, a small smile playing on his lips. "Did you find a girlfriend?"
Aimar turned.
His glare bore into him.
But the boy shrugged it off.
"Aimar?" Elise whispered softly. "Are you alright?"
"Y-yeah." Aimar said, nodding gently. "I'm fine."
Elise leaned forward. "Are your eyes alright?"
Aimar leaned back away from her. "I'm fine, don't worry."
Elise nodded hesitantly, clearly not convinced.
"Hey Aimar."
The boy called, making him turn.
Aimar gestured for him to speak.
"Do you know about Lilith?"
