Chapter 4: Aldrin Stormborn
"Wake Up, Master Rin!"
I woke up with a start, sweating profusely. I expected to wake up in the afterlife, but on the contrary, I found myself surrounded by silk white sheets and large pillows. The light of the morning sun shone through a nearby window, warming my eyes, and the scent of jasmine tea and fried eggs wafted through the air.
I briefly glanced around me. I was in a large bedroom, usual stonewall, but ten times bigger than the one I was accustomed to.
And the sheets were soft. So soft.
"Master Rin?" A voice called out.
Standing right before me was a tall lady, dressed in a maid's uniform, with long grey hair tied in a bun. Her eyes were brown and deep-set, and a pair of glasses rested upon her thin nose.
For a while, I admired her wonderfully large chest, forgetting everything else around me.
"Good morning, master Rin," The grey-haired maid repeated calmly. "Your mother requests your presence at once."
"Rin?... Who's Master Rin?" I muttered, half-awake.
The maid stared at me questioningly, then let out a brief laugh.
"That's very funny, Master Rin."
I didn't really get it. What was funny?
Without looking back, the maid quietly left and gently closed the door behind her.
This place is weird, I thought.
After she left, I froze for a while and stared into space, trying to recall how I got there. Then it hit me.
I should have been dead.
Immediately, my old memories came flooding back, accompanied by a vague feeling of regret.
I remembered the destruction of Earth and the scary silence that followed; the raging fire and the screaming voices.
But most of all, I remembered her face.
The Shadow Queen.
I quickly jumped out of bed and ran to the large standing mirror on my left. When I stared into it, I saw a handsome, slim-built, silver-haired boy with pale skin and sharp, intelligent purple eyes.
But it wasn't me.
My hair and eyes were meant to be brown, and I had a short beard and muscular frame.
Whose slender body was this?
The door creaked wide open, interrupting my train of thought. Soon after, a wide-eyed, purple-haired woman dressed in a royal nighttime robe strolled in, sporting the largest melons I had ever seen in all Westumberland!
She glanced around the bedroom for a while, searching for something, then she finally laid eyes on me and her forehead creased.
"Aldrin Stormborn, what are you doing?!" she hollered in a high-pitched voice.
I remained mute, trying to figure out who Aldrin was.
"I've been calling for you all morning," the woman continued. "It's well past dawn! Your father won't be pleased with your tardiness."
She was speaking to me, and that mean, I was Aldrin,
The realization finally hit me.
I've been reincarnated in another world!
But the thing is, I recognised the woman who stood in front of me. I had met her before, a very long time ago, when I was Drey Belford.
Her name was Reina, and she was the beautiful daughter of the ruling noble of House Stormborn. She was the one who taught me everything I knew about Weather Magic.
I deeply admired her for the role she played in my ascension to Grand Mage, and I loved her with all my heart... until she got married to another noble of House Stormborn.
If she were here, that meant I was still in Westumberland.
But... There was a problem.
Reina Stormborn died two years after I ascended to the title of Grand Mage.
If she were still alive in this universe, then that meant only one thing.
I was in the past!
And if I were now reincarnated as Aldrin, her first son, then Reina, the gorgeous, busty woman I once desired with all my heart, was now my mother!
Yesss!
Wait a minute...
Nooooooo!
Like a sudden jolt, I began to remember things. Memories belonging to Rin. Memories I never experienced, but they were my memories all the same.
I remembered Reina, carrying my little fragile body in her dainty hands. I remembered my infant lips tugging and nibbling at her soft breasts, and the million times she gently patted me on the cheeks.
I remembered her tucking me in bed and kissing me goodnight a thousand times. I remembered her singing sweet songs to me when I was too scared to sleep at night.
This was Rin's mother.
But now, she was my mother.
And I loved her dearly.
"Forgive me, mother," I sighed. "I'm having a weird morning."
Reina's eyes softened, and she beckoned for me to come closer. I did, and she pulled me close and planted a kiss on my forehead.
"I know how you feel," she said in a warm soothing voice. "I felt so nervous on my first day too. But I promise, you'll be fine."
She let go of my face and her calm demeanor suddenly changed.
"Now eat your food and get dressed, Rin."
As my mother left, the grey-haired maid walked in once again, with a food tray containing plates of fried eggs and pork, and a cup of tea.
Afterwards, she walked to a wardrobe placed on the right side of my bed. She pulled out a neat uniform, and straightened it out on the bed. Then she stared at me with a cute smile.
"Would you like me to dress you, Master Rin?"
I could feel my face redden with excitement.
"No need, Carla. I'll do it."
Yes, Carla. That was her name
The tall maid made a slight bow and left the room.
I briefly stared at the uniform, which consisted of a white shirt, black trousers, a black tie, a dark violet blazer with silver accents bearing the crest of the House Caelthorne.
It didn't take long for me to figure out where I was headed, for there was only one magic academy attended by nobles in all Westumberland.
The Imperium Magic Academy!
