Chapter 173 Kael: Every First Time is Sacred (10K, 75/76)_5
Kael was just like this now.
Not long after, Elanna's figure also emerged from the side hall.
Perhaps it was because Kael had already considered such a situation when he chose the dress for her.
Elanna's face now bore exquisite light makeup, the halfling makeup artist had done a good job, bringing out her unique charm.
The black and red elegant gown chosen by Kael, destined to be torn one day, accentuated her curves, her wine-red hair partly pinned up, hidden beneath a small round hat, with delicate veil edges hanging down, highlighting her cool yet passionate beauty.
When Kael saw Elanna step out, it was as if he saw a battle angel wielding a sharp blade gracefully approaching. For a moment, his usually stern demeanor softened considerably.
Seeing Kael standing aside, a trace of shyness flashed across her face. Kael gently lifted her delicate fingers wrapped in lace gloves, kissed the air above her hand, and was about to say something when he rarely found himself at a loss for words. After a brief hesitation, he finally spoke:
"Very pleased to meet you, Lady Elanna."
Hearing Kael's words, Elanna laughed softly, her voice becoming lively with cheer.
She reached out and hooked her arm through Kael's, and they walked into the banquet pavilion together.
Kael whispered, "You seem a bit nervous today?"
"I-I am not very good at attending such banquets. Although I usually interact with those noble friends, it's mostly at the training ground or hunting ground for fun."
Kael laughed slyly and said, "That indeed fits your usual character?"
"How do you perceive my usual character?" Elanna asked curiously.

"Guess?"
"Someone not easy to approach?"
"I know, right."
"Always causing trouble for others despite still having a long way to go?"
"You just realized that now?"
"Stubborn and not very lovable."
"Not entirely."
"Aren't you going to defend yourself a bit?"
"I've told you before, in front of me, you can show your truest self. How to embrace you is the question I should ponder."
Elanna said nothing, simply tightened her grip on Kael's hand.
Kael understood her thoughts and feelings. If marriage were to step into the final sanctuary or a new beginning, it was sacred and meaningful.
But this did not mean that the first smile shared, the first meeting and falling in love, the first time walking on stage hand in hand with a loved one in life...
Those beautiful moments lacked sacredness.
Elanna felt it, and so did he.
At this moment, neither of their hearts were calm.
But Kael knew that as a qualified gentleman, he should ease the tension in the lady's heart who was holding his hand.
So he began to say some slightly colorful yet not obscene jokes he usually wouldn't tell, even sharing some embarrassing stories of Elanna from Baron Newman. Soon, Elanna was laughing continuously.
As they entered the hall, they saw a banquet already laid out, with some halfling nobles and gnome controllers laughing and chatting in the drawing room.
Amidst clinking glasses, these people were scattered in different places, seemingly waiting for their arrival.
At first glance, Kael saw Mr. Luxius.
Mr. Luxius was as eccentric as ever, not even considering changing into formal attire, still wearing his mage robe.
In fact, Kael noticed that besides a few mages, most of them still wore their usual attire.
Clearly, they had no intention to get deeply involved in the banquet.
His eyes couldn't help but fall on an old man chatting and laughing with Mr. Luxius.
"Is that the legendary Bartlet Monarch?" Elanna asked Kael curiously.
"Yes, that is the Bartlet Monarch, a top mage with unique insights and foresight in his domain... it might even be said that he is the strongest human manipulation mage currently alive."
Even though mages of demigod level had appeared in various factions, the vital manipulation system where Bartlet Monarch belonged remained in a state of talent shortage.
For a mage to develop, they ultimately required a vast amount of resources. However, due to the special status of the manipulation system, it was not welcomed by society.
Everyone knew that the manipulation system could potentially develop to the extreme strength of other systems, yet there remained a fear of mind control.
Many who had interacted with manipulation mages held a faint dread in their hearts, worried about being controlled.
"In some sense, the manipulation mages and the incubus share similar situations; many even consider the threat of manipulation mages greater than that of the incubus."
Kael spoke softly.
He knew well. When one saw the unique pink eyes of an incubus's bloodline, along with their swaying tails and wings, at least there was a chance for vigilance, alerting oneself that this was an incubus.
But what about the manipulation mages?
They looked no different from regular humans yet could influence one's mind unconsciously. Especially for rulers, such a magic system was something to be eradicated.
