Reincarnated as a Wandering Swordsman in a World of Magic and Murim

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Awakening the Inferno

The abyss swallowed Ren whole, yet he did not fall. Instead, he drifted within the infinite void, where echoes of past lives whispered his name. His body felt weightless, but his mind burned with a fire unlike any he had ever known.

Then, a voice—his own, but deeper, more primal. "Do you fear your power, or do you fear losing yourself?"

Ren clenched his fists, the darkness swirling around him. "I will not be consumed," he declared, his voice reverberating through the void.

The abyss trembled. From its depths, a great surge of fire erupted, engulfing Ren. But he did not burn. He embraced the flames, feeling their raw intensity course through him. His vision blurred as a new force awakened within him—his Soulfire, no longer a mere weapon, but an extension of his very being.

When his eyes snapped open, he was no longer in the void. He stood in the training grounds, the master watching him with unreadable eyes. The air around Ren shimmered with heat, his body wreathed in golden fire.

The master gave a slow nod. "You have walked the abyss and returned. Now, show me what you have become."

Without hesitation, Ren launched forward, his sword igniting with pure Soulfire. The master met his strike with his own blazing weapon, and the battlefield erupted into an inferno. Each clash of their blades sent shockwaves through the valley, lighting up the darkened sky with flames that roared like dragons.

For the first time, Ren did not struggle to control the fire. He was the fire.

The duel raged on, and for the first time, the master grinned. "Good," he said, his voice barely audible over the roaring flames. "But this is only the beginning."
