Chapter 306: Blood Water
The power that Kael used to smash apart the head of the blue-scaled crocodile was so great that the force traveled into the ground, widening the crater and splitting the river into two.
For a second, the river stopped flowing, both sides becoming as still as a murky lake.
However, a red part of the river grew and expanded before retracting to where it came from. The split river collapsed, but before that, Kael was able to see the snout of a blood-red crocodile.
The ambush attempt on Kael was like a switch, instantly, auras began to rise, and killing intent could no longer be contained.
A deep guttural growl escaped Kael's lips as his metal fangs were exposed.
Kael did not say anything, but his body language showed that he was ready to kill. The creatures behind him were just waiting for the signal.
The birds above cried with anger and agitation, the goats screaming like mad men, they stopped their hooves and sneezed uncontrollably.
Suddenly, Kael stepped forward. Two bumps appeared on his back at this moment as his aura continued to rise and everyone felt like an anvil had been placed on their chest.
The bumps fully turned into two wings covered in golden feathers. Each wing was large and imposing, making him look bigger than most birds around.
The wings were stretched, showing a seven-meter wide wingspan. As Kael stretched his wings, the wind picked up and it looked like a hurricane was about to descend from the sky.
Then, under the gazes of the beastly horde and the crocodiles, Kael shifted his wings, angling them horizontally and pulling them back.
The pale gold wind gathered around Kael's body, rushing and surfing over his fur, giving him the appearance of the lion god of storms.
Then, Kael flapped his wings.
It felt like a storm of all storms had descended. Kael flapped those wings, releasing all his suppressed anger at once.
The effect was immediate.
The winds surged, rushing at the flowing river and clashing fiercely with the waters. Instantly, the river water began to get washed away as a wall of water rose in front of Kael, being formed by the fierce wind.
The monstrous wind pushed the water back further and further, faster than any crocodile could react. The water wall kept on getting higher and higher.
The river bed was exposed to the gazes of all the creatures, and so were the crocodiles who were surprised to see themselves either being washed away or struggling on the dry river floor.
So many crocodiles were exposed to Kael the moment all the water was washed away by the continuous surge of wind.
'Four hundred…' Kael thought to himself after he did a rough count. That wasn't all the crocodiles but that was all he could count with his eyes.
Meanwhile, Kael's action had completely stunned the onlookers. Seeing Kael wash away a flowing river with a flap of his wings, this was the stuff of myths, Kurse would have fainted from excitement if he had been here.
Kael's imposing golden body, his large celestial-like wings, and his mane which flowed effortlessly from the harsh breeze. Everything about him was divine and royal.
Looking at Kael, Priya's eyes gleamed with awe and respect as well as a deeper level of acknowledgment.
The river water wall rose high into the air and Kael finally saw what he wanted to see. A blood-red crocodile, the biggest crocodile he had ever seen.
This crocodile was about eleven meters long, longer than any crocodile he had ever seen.
All this happened within a short time and Kael quickly acted fast, "This river now belongs to the kingdom, kill all who oppose!" His telepathic voice resounded in the minds of his beastly soldiers.
A loud eagle cry spread out from a particular eagle, it was a war cry, a cry for blood.
Taking advantage of the still-dry dry river floor, different creatures rushed at the somewhat helpless crocodiles.
Wolf barks, bear roars, and goat bleats, were all used as battle cries as they changed at the large reptiles.
Kael stood at the edge of the now-dry river, watching as his army rushed at those who decided to be his enemies.
Seeing the bloodthirsty creatures rushing toward them, the crocodiles would naturally not stand there and be defenseless.
On the crocodile's side, many of them unleashed their aura and hissed at the incoming army. The ordinary crocodiles among them were not up to fifty in total, most of the crocodiles here had already awakened their hearts.
This was partly because most weak crocodiles don't really survive for long. They had a lot more pressure on them to get stronger from the moment they were born than most creatures.
Since there was no water, it didn't mean they would be completely defenseless. They charged forth with their powerful jaws wide open.
The crocodiles clashed with the king's army, and blood flowed.
At the same time, some crocodiles were trying to use their powers to control the water to come back. With water walls surrounding them, they felt more trapped than free.
Kael frowned as he felt that his powerful wind was not enough to keep this water wall in place.
"No, stay back," Kael commanded Katari, who was about to make a move at the moment.
Katari hesitated before relaxing.
Kael's eyes gleamed with killing intent half as strong as the one Katari had, he let go of his wind-based power and activated another power, one he had barely used in a long time.
As soon as Kael let go, the water wall collapsed as the Water Crocodiles pulled it back to form a river. The other creatures were drenched and somewhat confused, what had happened.
The fight continued but now, the crocodiles had gained an advantage in mobility and terrain. Wolves splashed water everywhere as they clawed viciously on the armored backs of the crocodiles.
Bears wrestled boldly with these large reptiles, fighting for dominance despite their wet fur weighing them down.
But the land-based creatures were not at a complete disadvantage, they had help from above.
Eagles, owls, and crows swooped down with their sharp talons outstretched and reflecting a sharp light.
The birds mostly targeted the eyes of the crocodiles who dared to raise their heads too high.
One green-scaled crocodile shot his open jaw out of the river to catch one of the annoying eagles before dragging it down into the water to drown it.
Metal feathers shit down from the sky ceaselessly as Condra positioned his attacks from above.
By now, the sun had fully set and darkness was approaching. The river was filled with the glowing lights of different superpowers, making the whole area very attractive from many kilometers away.
It was then that a part of the flowing river went still. This part of the river suddenly gained a faint golden hue, as though some had spilled glitter into the river.
Without warning, this part of the river rose out and formed a long water whip.
At the same time, Kael finally took a step into the river. His paws landed on the water which went still and stopped flowing. He continued walking majestically, attracting the attention of many creatures.
The king was walking on water, and he was doing it so casually and with a regal vibe to it.
As he walked, more and more water whips as well as gigantic water paws formed beside him, flowing with him as he walked toward a certain direction.
Although they were momentarily stunned, the fight still continued around the king. It was either the horde creatures taking advantage of the stunned crocodiles to attack them or the crocodiles doing the same for their enemies.
A massive red crocodile burst out of the river with blood water forming around him. His eyes were trained on the golden lion walking toward him, it was clear, that Kael was coming for him.
The Blood Crocodile swished his tail and flapped his webbed feet, propelling himself toward Kael with full force and a wide-open maw.
Blood water flowed over his body and his armored back, giving him a horrifying presence and boosting his speed.
Seeing the incoming Blood Crocodile, Kael leaned toward the side. The crocodile was truly very fast as his jaws almost snapped shut around Kael's head.
Whether it would have done serious damage was unknown.
The Blood Crocodile missed his attack, he swerved his head in Kael's direction, intending to follow up with another bite.
But a gigantic water paw slapped his head from the side, sending his massive body crashing through the water.
Water whips rose around Kael and pierced at the Blood Crocodile, only to be stopped by a wall of thick red liquid that formed out of the water.
'Blood,' Kael said to himself. His nose twitched, he could perceive the scent of blood. The stench was strong and this blood barrier was apparently formed by the blood of many creatures.
A wrathful crocodile charged through the blood barrier as it collapsed on his body. He swam toward Kael as multiple blood tendrils began to form on his armored back.
