Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World

Chapter 231: The Hatred Of A Brother

Zod had arrived on the beach not long ago and was surprised to see the settlement filled with a foreign faction.

Most of his subordinates were gone, transported to who knows where.

Seeing so many forces that were not his own, Zod concluded that Paradise Beach had been taken over in the absence of him and his brother.

Stella was nowhere to be found, same with Harath. Whatever faction had taken over had enough power to deal with them, which was why Zod had hesitated to attack.

He wished to wipe out all these invaders and take back the settlement but common sense told him that anyone who could fight Stella and Harath and win, was capable of killing him.

Ever since he witnessed the death of his brother, Zed, his fear of death had heightened to extreme degrees. He was now more cautious than ever, constantly looking over his shoulder if a certain lion would show up to take his head.

Currently, Zod was at the edge of the settlement, he stood near the border region that was in between the forest border and the side border where the goats had invaded from.

He was in his humanoid form, his bare feet carrying above the sands as she scouted from her. Those two tear marks on his face had gotten clearer and more realistic, as if they were actually black tears streaming from his eye.

Just then, he saw a wolf that he knew, he stopped in place, watching as the tier 2 wolf walked out of a bone hut.

The large brown wolf froze in shock after he saw Zod standing beyond the border, looking at him.

And then, contrary to Zod's expectations, the wolf looked away and behaved as if he had not seen anything at all.

Zod was stunned, he had expected the wolf to be excited to see him, after all, his presence could potentially return things to their status quo before he left.

This same wolf was one of the meat eaters who had aimed his support and protection when he couldn't help but indulge in the meat of some rabbits.

The large brown wolf shifted his eyes away, he had been ordered to howl and alert the whole settlement in case an enemy showed themselves, but because of his previous relationship with Zod, he wasn't willing to do such.

The best he could do was behave as if he hadn't seen anything. Even if the settlement was going to be alerted, he wouldn't be the one to do it.

Wolves and their loyalty…

It couldn't be helped, the wolf had lost confidence in the strength of the previous leaders ever since he saw Stella's state after she battled that lioness.

The last image he saw of Stella was of a humanoid with blood all over her face, the blood on her cheeks had been mixed with her wrathful tears, and she was missing an ear as well as some skin on the left side of her head.

Zod had treated him well, the best he could do was steer him away from such fate.

Zod's sharp eyes saw the look of fear in the wolf's eyes, they had been thoroughly defeated, Zod could tell.

However, Zod was unsure if he should just leave or stay a little while longer.

While he was thinking, the Iron Blood Magic Shuttle appeared above the sea at this time, stunning the inhabitants of the settlement including Zod.

Zod stared in amazement at the monstrously huge red and black vessel that slowly hovered above the settlement, casting a false pressure on the minds of the on-lookers.

Zod found the red and black design of the shuttle very familiar but he couldn't place his finger on it. All he knew was that this could potentially be that vessel that had first flown over the beach some days ago.

Through his exceptional vision, Zod was able to see a humanoid being dropping straight down into the settlement, earning him a frown.

He couldn't see the figure again after he landed because of all the bone huts blocking his vision but he felt that that figure was strangely familiar.

Just when his mind was starting to put two and two together, another being dropped down from the open hatch of the shuttle.

Before this being could land on the ground, wings spread out from behind her, big and wide enough for Zod to recognize them instantly.

"It's them," Zod muttered as he instinctively held his breath.

The brown wolf had also looked over to the place where those two beings had dropped, just as curious as Zod.

Zod senses the unrestrained movement of two powerful beings moving toward Kael and Chloe's position.

They were weaker than him, but they still possessed the strongest aura in the whole settlement among others of the same power level.

Zod's instinct was screaming at him to run, he had barely escaped the last time, and it was better not to test his fate again.

Yet, besides his instincts, something else churned within him, hatred, desire for revenge.

Maybe, just maybe, he could ambush…

Zod shook his head, Kael has proven to be an exceptional lion, sneaking up on him the first time was just lucky, it would be nearly impossible to do it again.

With the myriad arsenal of powers Akael had at his disposal, Zod doubted if he would be able to do much.

'But does he have speed? True speed?' Zod asked himself. He had escaped before, he could escape again.

His instincts told him to run, but his hatred and desire for revenge blinded him from the danger he was putting himself in. Every time he thought of turning around and running away, the last image he had of Zed would flash in his mind.

Headless, dead, that was the last memory he had of Zed, and it infuriated him.

While Zod was thinking of this, he had not moved from his spot at all, he had not taken a single step.

He was conflicted, unsure whether he should run away or make an ambush. Since Kael was still some distance away, he was sure that Kael would not be able to detect him immediately.

This…was a mistake.

Zod's senses blared as he sensed danger approaching…fast.

His eyes dilated as adrenaline filled his veins, and his leg and abdominal muscles went stiff.

The little pair of wings on his ankles and wrists opened up fully and flapped immediately.

*BOOM!*

Zod burst out of the vicinity as the sand beneath him exploded from the force of his launch speed.

He disappeared, leaving behind after images as he raced away.

It was also at this time that thick green vines burrowed out of the sand and pierced into the sky.

If Zod had been a little bit late, those vines would have pierced through him without any resistance.

The sand parted to the side behind Zod as he sped away. He didn't look back, there was no need to look back. It was definitely Kael.

"ZOD!"

A loud telepathic voice echoed out of the settlement and spread out at the speed of light, reaching Zod's mind instantly.

Still, Zod dared not to stop running.

His senses flared again as he sensed another fast-approaching danger. This one was unreasonably close to him, too close.

Space twisted in front of Zod and Kael appeared in front of the running speedster.

Zod flapped his wings hard and pressed his feet firmly in the sand, but that did not stop his momentum. He had been moving too fast.

His face was like a metal magnetically drawn to Kael's raised fist. Zod, having no choice and little time to think, swerved to the side.

He dodged.

But his face was damaged, Kael's knuckle had scraped off some flesh from his cheek.

Zod screamed from the stinging pain that spread all over his face and started giving him a blinding headache.

The pain brought him back to a state of clarity, his life was in grave danger.

Countless grains of sand burst into the air as Zod drifted and turned toward the sea. He ran past the shoreline, his ankle wings going overdrive and allowing him to race above the waters.

Kael stared at the running speedster. The king could tell from that short exchange that he wouldn't need to transform into his lion form to deal with Zod.

They were no longer equals. Kael's confidence grew.

Two large golden wings unfurled from Kael's back and spread out. He had been meaning to test out his new enhancement powers, Zod came at the right time.

Kael's wings flapped, lifting him into the sky. Strong winds gathered around his body and caused his blonde hair to flutter crazily, giving him the appearance of a terrifying angel of judgment.

He flapped his wings again, the winds churned and Kael shot into the distance, chasing after the running cheetah man over the sea.

Something interesting happened at this moment, the winds that surrounded Kael turned from their usual black to a mix of black and gold.
