Chapter 258: Sparring with Amelia
I was still inside the training room when Amelia walked back up to me. Her expression was filled with eagerness and just a hint of stubbornness.
"Naoki, you promised to train me, remember?" she said, locking her eyes with mine.
For a second, I considered refusing. I was tired, and my body still ached from everything that had happened earlier. But then I remembered—my word is my bond. I had made a promise, and Amelia was clearly excited. There was no way I could let her down.
Out of nowhere, Envi's voice rang loudly in my head, sounding like an overexcited child.
"Hey Nao, damn it! Let me train with her instead! Hehehe! You just sit back and rest, this is my moment with Amelia!"
He was practically bouncing with excitement. I had nearly forgotten that he'd been asking for a chance to spend time alone with her.
With a sigh of resignation, I muttered in my thoughts, "Fine, do whatever you want."
Without hesitation, Envi seized control of my body. I could feel his overflowing enthusiasm from the inside, and I could even imagine the huge, goofy grin spread across his face.
"Alright, Amelia. I'm going to attack you now, so be prepared and protect that chest of yours! I mean—yourself!" Envi said with no shame at all.
I groaned internally. Seriously? He just had to say that out loud.
Amelia let out a playful laugh and took her stance. "Come at me, Naoki. I'm ready!"
Her footing was solid, and she raised the Holy Sword Durandal with practiced ease. Her aura flared up, Divine Magic pulsing around her like a second skin. Her long hair fluttered behind her as if reacting to the intensity of her will.
Envi responded by summoning the katana Kagegiri from the Grimoire of the Darkness.
"I'm going all out," he declared, and then charged toward her.
Amelia did the same. Their weapons clashed with a thunderous clang, sparks flying through the air. The entire room trembled as sword met sword in rapid succession. Amelia's strikes were fast, heavy, and precise—each imbued with the radiant energy of her divine attribute.
Despite his confidence, Envi was struggling. Kagegiri could withstand most blows, but Divine Magic had a way of eating through darkness like fire through paper. He wouldn't last long just blocking her attacks.
Thinking quickly, Envi activated [Eclipse Foresight], a skill that allowed him to predict Amelia's movements. With it, he could dodge more effectively and weave between her strikes instead of trying to tank them.
With a sly grin, Envi taunted, "Come on, my love! Show me your best strike! I promise I won't faint again like last time when you hit me with your Holy Punch!"
That provoked a sinister smirk from Amelia—a dangerous glint flickered in her eyes. Her usual sweet demeanor gave way to something more intense… something unmistakably yandere.
"You're amazing, my darling Naoki. A man of darkness… yet you're willing to stand against my Divine Magic?" she whispered with a chilling affection. "Very well. Let me show you what I can do."
She began charging her holy energy into Durandal. The entire room shimmered under the pressure of her growing power.
From the corner, King Aslan watched with sparkling eyes, clapping his hands as if he were witnessing the climax of an epic action film.
"Take this! [Braveheart Swordsmanship: First Form—Divine Slash!]" Amelia shouted.
A golden wave of Divine Magic surged forward from her blade, roaring like a tidal wave of pure light.
Envi and I were both caught off guard. The sheer pressure of that slash… it was at least twice as powerful as before. This wasn't just the sword's strength—Amelia's own power had grown. She had improved so much, she was nearing the level of the heroes.
"Dodge, Envi!" I cried out in our shared mind.
But he shook his head and answered calmly, "No. I must face her resolve with my own."
In that moment, he sealed off our access to Dark Magic using [Blessing of Sealing Magic]. Then, from the Grimoire, he drew out a new weapon—[Divine Dawn], a katana bathed in holy light.
He stood tall and unleashed [Divine Aurora], a skill that cloaked his body in radiant Divine Magic. The warmth and glow of it shone brilliantly, completely transforming his aura.
Amelia's eyes widened in surprise. Even King Aslan was speechless.
As the slash neared him, Envi raised his blade high and activated [Resonance], a skill that allowed him to absorb and harmonize with incoming magic.
"[Resonance: Divine Absorption]!!" he roared.
The powerful golden slash disappeared into the swirling aurora around him, its energy being pulled into his body and converted into raw power.
King Aslan broke into a loud round of applause. "Incredible! That's truly impressive! This is what a battle of champions looks like!"
Amelia wasn't done. She grinned, then lifted her left hand.
"It's time… I'll show you the weapon of my sister."
"[Summon: Divine Axe Regalion]!"
With a flash of light, a massive holy axe appeared in her left hand—Regalion, the very weapon once wielded by Princess Aria on the battlefield.
Now she held Durandal in her right hand and Regalion in her left. She looked magnificent. No longer just a determined fighter—she stood there like a queen ready to command an army.
Envi burst out laughing uncontrollably.
"HAHAHAHA! YOU'RE AMAZING! YOU'RE STUNNING! COME AT ME, HONEY!!!"
Amelia returned the energy tenfold, her voice powerful and full of affection.
"YEAH HONEY!! TAKE THIS!! [BRAVEHEART SECRET TECHNIQUE: DOUBLE LION SLASH!!]"
Two massive golden lions formed from Divine Magic roared into existence, sprinting straight toward Envi with ferocious power.
Not to be outdone, Envi unleashed all the holy power he had absorbed earlier, shaping it into a concentrated attack of his own.
"[RESONANCE: DIVINE DRAGON SLASH]!!"
A divine dragon of radiant light soared out from his blade, colliding head-on with the twin lions.
BOOM!!
The resulting explosion was deafening. The entire castle seemed to shake from the impact. Light filled the training room like a miniature sun had gone supernova.
When the dust settled, I stood there frozen, eyes wide.
They were… incredible. Not just as fighters, but as people. As partners.
Honestly, I had no words for what I had just witnessed.
