Reincarnated As A Dragon With A Godly Inheritance

Chapter 79: Core I

"So, do you mean I should only learn fire?" Kaedros asked carefully. His eyes narrowed.

Was Thalso speaking about an entirely different branch of magic? What did he know that Kaedros didn't...

"Choosing one path would be easier," Thalso said, "and it will benefit you more in the long run...besides. You shouldn't follow....it wasn't worth it in the end..."

'..yes..we're talking of different things!..' Kaedros was sure of it now!

"I don't think so." The voice cut cleanly through the air, cool and sharp like the claws sheathed in her paws.

Nyra stood beside Thalso. None of them had seen her arrive, none except Thalso, of course. To everyone else, she had simply appeared, a silent force slipping into place.

Thalso turned toward her slowly. "Why do you think that?"

Kaedros wanted to know too. Who was he talking about and why wasn't it worth it?

Nyra snorted, flicking her tail in irritation. "I expected better from you, Thalso. Can't you see it? Look into him. Check the pattern of his aspected core properly this time. It's not like...that. it's more rooted in him! All of them!"

Thalso was suddenly in front of Kaedros.

The young Dragon barely had time to react before a heavy armored hand pressed firmly on his head. A wave of power pulsed from Thalso, sweeping through him, from head to toe, flooding his entire being with a strange pressure that made his entire body to tremble.

Then it was gone. Thalso stepped back, arms folding as he returned to his spot.

Kaedros blinked in disbelief. What in the abyss was that? He wasn't the only one. Taria and Rauk were staring at him with wide, confused eyes.

"What was that?" Kaedros demanded. His curiosity about what Thalso was speaking about almost forgotten.

Nyra answered instead. "When you use the Flow and choose what kind of path you'll become, your mana changes once it enters your core. That change is called arcane and the essence of that goes into the Soul space...

"You know what? The Soul space is more above you right now and I don't know why he started it. We'll only talk about your cores from now on."

She stepped forward slightly.

"Magic can be elemental, fire, water, wind or something more complex like summoning or space. Every magic carries a pattern, a signature left behind by the Flow that shaped it. Take Taria, for example. She said her core felt sharp. That's her pattern.

"And that pattern draws from something that's more...ah! Forget it. Let's only stick to what you need to know for now!"

Kaedros nodded slowly, though unease still bubbled within him. "So what pattern did you see in me?"

Thalso's voice was unreadable. "I knew you'd ask. Let's just say... your pattern is unique. And it will become very important..soon."

"But how?" Taria demanded. "How can we have a Flow if we don't even know what they are?"

"You might not have it," Thalso said. "Not in the traditional sense. The Flow helps you absorb mana faster, shape it into magic more efficiently, and unleash spells or techniques with speed and precision. But if there's another way to do all of that..."

The answer came to them almost instantly.

"The Codex." Kaedros said, flatly.

"So... the Codex gave us our cores?" Rauk asked, brow furrowed. "Our aspected cores... even our magic? It patterned them for us?"

"That would make sense," he said slowly.

Rauk turned to Thalso. "Can you see the pattern of my magic too?"

But it was Nyra who moved. She walked toward him, unhurried, her feline grace silent and calculated. When she reached Rauk, her third eye opened, unblinking and radiant.

"Mmm..." She tilted her head. "You learned a very powerful Flow. Your arcane has already been patterned, pure spatial arcane. A high-grade type. Look at this, Thalso. His Flow converts mana into raw spatial magic. He can use any spell under spatial." M!|V&|L#E-M*PYR# is the ho$m!e of t+his ch#ap*ter

"That's a top-tier Flow," Thalso said with weight in his voice.

Rauk blinked. "What do you mean? Doesn't the Flow convert mana into magic anyway? What's so different?"

"When the Flow converts mana," Nyra said, "it usually creates limited magic. A fire magic might let you throw fireballs, but not breathe fire. A water magic might let you control existing water, but not conjure a golem or summon rainstorms."

"But you're not limited, Rauk. With raw spatial arcane, you can do everything, teleport, displace, fold space, even create void zones, if you train hard enough."

And suddenly, it clicked. Rauk looked distant for a moment as if the truth hit him in the chest. His flow...His Mana Cultivation method!

It made sense now.

Kaedros felt something settle in his mind. What they were calling the Flow was mana cultivation method but what they were saying was that it was already imprinted on their cores.

It didn't make sense but Kaedros could only point to one direction. The Codex! Everyone that passed through the Codex must have been imprinted with a Flow...their Core already imprinted on the type of path they would take!

Then...what happens to the Mana cultivation they learn later?

Kaedros felt a chill ran down his spine and his mind reeled slightly at the implications.

The Codex must be even more powerful than it seems to be!

"What about mine?" Taria asked eagerly, though a flicker of doubt crossed her face. Deep down, she already had a feeling.

Thalso didn't rise. His voice was steady. "You have the Warrior's Pattern, Taria. It's in your blood. You were born for combat. And your magic, your core, it's marked with the spear. All you need now is to learn techniques that draw out that potential."

Taria smiled... but it was tight. Forced.

Nyra's eyes didn't blink. All three of them studied her.

"You also bear the magic of Strength," she said quietly. "It's strong. Very strong. That magic puts you beyond most warriors. Do not underestimate yourself, girl. You have a powerful Flow.

"But then again, it could be improved on with another Flow." Taria looked away. Somehow, Nyra always seemed to know what she was thinking.

Thalso folded his arms again. "This Codex... I would like to meet him."

Taria opened her mouth, but Kaedros was faster, his eyes narrowing.

"Why?" he asked.

Thalso replied. "How he gave you patterned core. How he chose for you."

Kaedros narrowed his eyes. "We've never seen the Codex. No one has. We don't even know if it's a man or woman... or even human."

"Impossible," Thalso and Nyra said together.
