"Hah… I bet the Overlord and the others must hate me to the bone by now."

Lucifer laughed at himself, then unhitched the cart, which was starting to look old. He led the blood-thrall, which was clinging to his side like a little bird, to the base of an ancient tree. Standing in the cool shade beneath the leaves, Lucifer gently stroked the head of this "pack-beast."
