Refusing My God’s Advances

Chapter 11: Fighting the Little People

Turning back to concentrate on the town, a group of fifteen little people had formed a semicircle around me. The demons all had their clawed hands up, but it felt like I was a voice actor at an anime convention.

"Come on," I called to my fans, and three of them launched at me from the front and both sides. They might be small, but they weren't brainless.

In response, I smoothly sidestepped the first one, who zipped past me, then snapped my arms out to each side, catching the other two necks. Even as I did, more came for me like little human darts, forcing me to dance around.

This was becoming increasingly annoying as the oversized mosquitos buzzed by me with their little wings. I had to figure out a better way to deal with these things. Part of me just wanted to treat them like the goblins, but there was a clear difference.

Once the two went limp in my hands, I tossed them to the side, jumping out of the demon cloud, and away from the town. How did I deal with these demons without killing them?

The demons wasted no time in coming for me, but a thought or more of a memory crossed my mind.

When I was back in school, I didn't really talk to people, or have friends. Shocker, I know, but there was one weird girl that always tried to interact with me. When she did, I would usually ignore her, but then she would flick me in the forehead. The act would usually hurt her finger more than it ever did my head.

As I thought this, the first demon from the cloud reached me at high speeds. In response, just as it came within my arm's reach, I used my hand to slow the male demon down. Once I had brought it almost to a complete stop, I lightly flicked his forehead. All of this happened in an instant.

The impact of my finger was temporarily blocked by some kind of barrier, but it broke just as fast. The little demon was sent tumbling across the ground but didn't get back up.

I assumed he was fine, and got to work catching, and then flicking each of the demons. As I did this, a frown started to cross my face. There wasn't a single female in the group.

Soon, the tide of demons slowed, and the remaining ones stopped rushing me, unsure of themselves. I had an almost complete ring of hopefully unconscious demons surrounding me at this point, so I couldn't blame them.

"So, are you ready to talk, or should I just deal with you all right now?" I asked, but then I felt something different about the air and looked at the village's entrance where the feeling was originating.

Both my eyes narrowed, and I felt a heat within me start to burn, getting hotter as I focused on the two people standing at the gate. One of them was Shelli, wrapped in some glowing red tendrils. The other was the first female demon I had seen.

My brain turned off for about half of a second.

When my eyes opened again like I had only blinked, Shelli was on the ground gasping for breath beside me. The little female demon was squirming in my grip with her eyes bulging out. I loosened my grip because I was clearly going to kill her, but I didn't let go as I tried to process what had just happened.

Turning my head back, the other demons were on the ground. The ones that had been still standing were in crumpled piles on the ground. What had I just done?

"Leon? Are you there?" Shelli asked as she pulled on my arm that was still holding the female.

I nodded, letting out a sigh, and then dropped the woman.

"Sorry, I am not sure what happened there," I said, but my eyes were locked on the demon who was gasping for breath and rubbing her red neck. I cleared my throat, and then the little woman looked up at me. "Demon woman. The fact that you are not dead right now is probably purely out of luck. I made the effort to make sure and only knocked out the other demons. Now, I am not sure if the other ones will survive what I just did, but that is your fault!"

The shock on the demon's face was apparent, and then she looked over and the first five I had knocked out next to us were starting to move. On seeing this, she turned back to me with a scared and confused look.

"Why?" Was all that she could ask, but I ignored her, clear that the fight was gone from her, and focused on Shelli, scanning her body over.

"Are you hurt?" I asked after not being able to see anything wrong with her, and Shelli blushed, confusing me at first.

"Did you really just do that to save me?" She asked with eyes full of stars.

I wasn't completely sure, but I supposed it wasn't far from the truth. The moment that I had seen her in trouble, I blanked out. That was worrisome, sort of. Truthfully, it was a pretty good hidden ability that seemed built to protect my interests. God help anyone that touched my waifus, printer, or easygoing way of life.

"Please be more careful next time. I told you that I didn't want to kill any of them if I didn't have to," I sighed, taking another look back at some of the more badly hurt demons. A few of them were moving at all.

Shelli's eyes softened, and she nodded. "I understand, Leon. Thank you for saving me. I'll be more cautious."

I waved off her gratitude, still a bit uneasy about what had transpired. "Let's just get these demons tied up and find out what's going on here. I have a feeling there's more to this than meets the eye."

As we worked on restraining the demons, the townspeople cautiously approached us. The man I had instructed earlier came back with some rope and was now accompanied by a few guards.
