Refuse to Marry Mr.CEO

Chapter 29: Chapter 15 The Drama Inside the Car 4_1

Just a casual glance out of the corner of her eye, and she caught sight of a cake box on the refrigerator.

Upon seeing Xia Liyou standing there in a daze, the butler's wife followed her gaze.

She suddenly clapped her hands and exclaimed, "Oh no, my mistake, I forgot to put the cake in the refrigerator. The master specially bought it for the mistress yesterday; it's all my fault for being so muddled."

The butler's wife scolded herself while walking towards the refrigerator, she took down the box from the top, opened it to check, not being sure whether the cake had spoiled, she even bent down purposely to give it a sniff.

Xian Liyou gazed at the cake in shock, Ou Chengtian's words echoing in her mind: "Do you know what day it is today?"

She moved her mouth awkwardly, the strange feeling that had been lingering in her heart grew stronger. It was a pressure that weighed heavily on her chest and made it difficult for her to breathe.

Despite that, this feeling was not too uncomfortable. On the contrary, it even gave her a sense of pleasure.

"Madam, this is a chicken soup that the cook made especially for you as per the sir's instructions. Please drink it while it's hot. The master said you caught a cold last night. Drinking more chicken soup will be good for you." The butler's wife was beaming as she went through the list of tasks Ou Chengtian had instructed her to do.

From start to finish, Xia Liyou's expression remained indifferent, lacking any discernible emotion. However, her gaze kept drifting back to that cake box.

After finishing the soup, Xia Liyou put down her bowl, and in a soft voice, said, "Butler, please throw away that cake. It was left out all night and is probably spoiled by now."

The butler's wife looked at the cake box, then at Xia Liyou, and nodded in agreement, "Yes, Madam."

"Ah, there's a dress in my room; could you help me with…"

"Is it a white dress?" The butler's wife didn't wait for Xia Liyou to finish.

Xia Liyou nodded, "Yes, that's the one."

"Oh, we sent that dress to the dry cleaner's this morning, as per the master's orders."

"Really?" Xia Liyou murmured. How did he know that she was going to have that dress dry-cleaned?

Could it be because she had carefully left the dress there yesterday that led him to conclude it must be important?

This string of actions from Ou Chengtian was making Xia Liyou feel strange.

Xia Liyou wiped her mouth, retrieved something from upstairs, and left the house.

Today, the director had arranged a new role for her. Although she didn't know the specifics yet, hearing Ai Wei's high expectations for the role, she couldn't help but feel somewhat fortunate.

The people on the film set were still busy at work, the director was directing a scene with the main male and female leads.

Xia Liyou and Ai Wei walked behind them, wanting to sneak into the makeup room unnoticed. However, they were soon spotted by the director.

Immediately, the director put aside his work. With a bright smile on his face, he rushed over to Xia Liyou, blocking her path.

"Miss Xia, you've arrived so early today. It's indeed very professional of you." The Director was grinning amicably, almost sucking up.

Ai Wei raised an eyebrow and looked up at the sky. It was already two in the afternoon, was this still considered early?

Xia Liyou forced a smile and politely replied, "You're too kind, Director."

"I'm sure you must be tired after coming all this way, Miss Xia. Please go in and have some rest. Oh, um, the production assistant, fetch a bottle of water for Miss Xia and one for Assistant Ai too. You guys are eating and not doing what's asked of you." He said while still maintaining a smile, busy attending to everything.

Not only were Ai Wei and Xia Liyou surprised by the director's 180-degree shift in attitude towards them, but so was everyone else on the set. They watched, dumbfounded, as the director seamlessly performed this change in personality.

He was wasting his talents by not portraying a traitor.

Following the enthusiastic welcome by the director, Ai Wei and Xia Liyou reluctantly made their way to the dressing room with bemused expressions.

Once they were out of earshot of the director, Ai Wei patted her chest, frowned, and said, "What's with the director? Did he take the wrong medication or something? Why is he suddenly being so nice to you?"

Xia Liyou was also bewildered. She hadn't done anything special. When she was set to play the second female lead, he was never this obliging.

What was going on with him today?

"But this role is pretty decent, definitely better than the minor part from the last time. At least this one is," Ai Wei started counting on her fingers, "The fourth leading lady. It's actually pretty good. It has potential for development."
