Chapter 20: invite
Just when John was having a headache, a nun knocked gently on the door.
"Mr. John?" said softly.
"Well? Is there something wrong?" John turned back and asked.
"Officer Baylor is looking for you for something, can you come out first?" Ms. Matthew told Officer John Baylor to come and look for it.
John nodded, glanced at the sleeping girl and walked out, but before leaving, he told Ms. Matthew that if Triss woke up, he told her that John would come to her later.
"Officer Baylor, I heard that you have something to do with me?" John asked softly when he walked outside the church and saw Baylor standing at the door.
Officer Baylor was still in a police uniform, with a well-groomed moustache and looked meticulous.
"Ah, John, have you found them?" Baylor turned and looked John up and down, and saw some scars, so he asked aloud.
"Yes, and sent them to hell." John nodded.
"I met Ms. Matthew this morning and he told you to come back. Your ability surprised me." Baylor watched the inexplicable light in John's tall figure's eyes flashing away. "Is it convenient to talk about it?"
"Of course." John nodded.
The two found a restaurant and sat at the table in front of the door. This was the central area of Heishui Town, and the street was busy.
"What do the two gentlemen need?" The waiter asked after the two of them sat down.
"Lunch for three, with warm milk." John expressed his needs
"A cup of coffee." Baylor said politely to the waiter.
"So, what's the matter?" John took out the exchanged premium cigarette, handed it to Baylor, and lit it on his own.
"Do you know Grace Greer?" Baylor asked instead without answering.
"Of course I've heard of it, the legendary thief. What happened to him?" John was a little curious.
"He appeared at Camp Riggs some time ago, and Sheriff Christian took the police from Blackwater Town to encircle him. Although he suffered heavy casualties, he managed to escape. We also lost a lot of excellent people. Police. Thank you." Baylor took the coffee and said thanks.
"So, what do you mean?" John vaguely guessed a little.
"We are recruiting a new batch of detectives. I mentioned you to the sheriff. He wants to make an appointment with you. Are you free?" Baylor said.
"Of course, but I have to deal with these follow-up things first." John thought about it and nodded.
"Well, how about noon tomorrow?" Baylor continued to ask.
"Okay, tomorrow at noon." John nodded.
"Have you figured out how to arrange the little girl?" Baylor asked after changing the subject.
"I don't know yet. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you." John took the lunch from the clerk. Started eating, after the injury John became more frequent and more hungry than normal.
"I didn't. Maybe you should find a good family to adopt her. There must be a couple who like her." Baylor suggested.
"What about you? Are you interested in taking her in?" John asked, looking at Baylor, who was majestic and a little bit old-fashioned.
"My wife won't agree at all. Our house is not big enough to accommodate her. I'm sorry." Belle hesitated before shaking his head. Baylor's family has troubles he can't handle himself.
"I understand. I'll have a good talk with her and see what she thinks. After all, she's grown up." John nodded. Every family has a hard scripture to read, and it's not right to impose something on others.
"Well, John, in fact, many rich people are willing to adopt a child as smart and beautiful as Triss. You have a good relationship with Mr. Edwin, the richest man in the city. You can think about it." It seems that Baylor has been investigating John a lot these days.
"I'll talk to her." John nodded in understanding.
After lunch, John and Baylor said a simple goodbye. John said that he would definitely go to the police station to visit Chief Christian tomorrow.
Watching Officer Baylor leave, John returned to his hotel after eating.
"What the **** is this?" John took out the bronze mask that was to be handed over to the black market in a while. It was no different from an ancient bronze mask. It was exaggerated and outdated.
The system gave this mask a very magical property.
ancient mask
Funeral
According to legend, the ancient Mayans carved masks according to the dead, so that the dead can rest in peace.
Legend: The wearer can counteract some of the effects of toxic gaseous substances.
Soothe the nerves: The wearer can eliminate some negative emotions.
John is quite sure that these attributes are not added by the system but exist in itself. Although he knows that this world is definitely different from the west of the previous life, perhaps the difference is much greater than John imagined.
After pondering for a while, John put away his mask, left the hotel, and walked towards the impoverished area of Blackwater Town.
This time, the black market Zhanmi in Heishui Town didn't stop him, and John walked into Green's room unimpeded.
"Oh, look who this is? The new bounty hunter in Blackwater Town, who single-handedly guarded Edwin Manor, and killed more than a dozen gangsters with his own power, Mr. John Wick. Haha." Green showed part of the strength of the black market as soon as they met.
Green was the same old man, with a pair of glasses and a short goatee.
"Can I go in and have a look?" John pointed to the door to Green and said.
"Of course, what about my employer's stuff?" Green nodded and asked.
John took out the mask, held it in his hand and scrutinized it for a while, before handing it to Green.
"It looks really strange, it seems to be a funeral object." Green picked up the mask and looked at it before commenting.
"John, think of a plant or animal or something." Green asked, taking out a nameplate.
"What?" John frowned in confusion.
"I need to print your special mark on the back. A revolver, a dagger, a knife or anything else is fine. There is also a nickname that I need to print on it."
"Just a nickname and an iconic item?" John absurdly felt as if he was playing online games in a previous life.
"Yes, that's it, hurry up! Furious black bears? Evil wolves or something, but there are a few of them." Green reminded him.
Looking at Green's head, John was really stunned. After he realized it, he picked up the nameplate and watched it repeatedly. It was the same size as those dog tags sold on a treasure in his previous life.
In front is a city, a miniature of Heishui Town, and in the back is blank.
"Night Demon?" John wasn't sure.
"No, this one has it. Change it."
"Jin?"
"Enter?"
"The meaning of Embers, UU Reading www.uukanshu.com Ashes." John explained, and in retrospect he still liked that game.
"Jin? A nice name." Green wrote and drew on the picture.
"Is that okay?" Green handed the picture to John. It was a small fire that had burned out.
"Can you paint a rose that is turning to ashes?" John put forward his request in a very middle-of-the-line manner, because John found that Green's painting skills were quite good.
"A rose turned to ashes? John, you are very artistic." Green finished and started to draw.
Two minutes later, a rose that was turning into embers appeared on the white paper, and there was a pile of ashes under the rose.
"Are you satisfied?" Green asked.
"Well, your painting skills are really good." John watched for a while, then nodded in agreement with Green's painting skills.
"Very good, ten dollars." Green touched his long mustache and said to John.
"what?"
"The cost of making the nameplate identity is $10." Green looked at John as expected and explained.
"Is this the rule of the black market?"
"Yes, otherwise why is it called the black market?" Green nodded.
"I'm grass." John reluctantly took out ten dollars and handed it to Green.
"Want to go in and have a look?" Green asked after receiving the money.
"No, not now." John still has things to deal with.
"Okay, you can come and get your nameplate tomorrow. You can go in and have a look then," Green suggested.
"See you tomorrow, or tomorrow night." John nodded to show that he knew.
Leaving the black market, John walked towards the church.
