Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 472: 472 times return

The three women outside, mother-in-law and daughters-in-law, were getting along quite well.

Han Lixia was particularly satisfied with her two daughters-in-law. She was naturally an easy-going person, so Sun Yun and Qi Xue Mei also liked this mother-in-law, as she wasn't someone who nitpicked or caused trouble.

Lunch only started close to two o'clock. The children had some fried peanuts while cooking, which Zhao Tian found for them.

Even though it was just a little, it was nice for the children to have something to eat first.

"Mom and Dad, you should eat too," Zhao Qingxiang said, looking at his parents watching them eat, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

The old couple shook their heads, "No need, no need, we had lunch already. You all eat quickly. It won't be as good if it cools down."

After the meal, Han Lixia still helped the two daughters-in-law clean up. She felt full of energy now. The children were finally back.

After the two brothers finished eating, they sat with the old couple and talked about their life outside all these years.

Although they had written letters before, nothing was as detailed as this. Plus, reading the letters required someone literate, and Zhao Qingxiang's letters were also penned by someone else.

"So, you're saying that as long as you're willing to work hard over there, you can earn a good amount of money?"

"Yes, as long as you're willing to work, it's manageable. Plus, with pesticides and fertilizers now, yields are much higher than before."

"Alright, your mom and I can work. We'll go over too."

Zhao Tian felt as though he was full of vigor.

Indeed, when joyous events come along, one feels invigorated, and the children have returned. The old couple was the happiest.

Back when they fell out with the eldest brother, it was once said that they were destined to be buried by no one. But now it's different. Their sons came to bring them over. The family would be together in the future and even earn money, so how could it not be good?

Han Lixia had already started kneading the dough to make dumplings for dinner.

They split over three pounds of meat, but neither ate it. In fact, it had been this way for years; they saved it for when the children would come back. This year they finally waited.

Zhao Tian took the four children and gave them roasted peanuts and seeds to eat.

In any case, the Zhao household was filled with laughter now, and the two neighboring families also knew that the Zhao family's two sons had returned.

In truth, the villagers thought that when Zhao Tian and his wife passed, there would be no one to handle their affairs since their sons lived so far away. If anything were to happen, they might not make it back in time.

Unexpectedly, the brothers returned. The family seemed quite harmonious. Zhao Tian even tidied the two rooms and started a fire in the afternoon.

Sun Yun and Qi Xue Mei found their mother-in-law, "Mom, we both want to take a bath."

"Sure, we have plenty of hot water. I'll get the basins we used to use. I cleaned them and put them away."

Sun Yun and Qi Xue Mei felt somewhat emotional. They were both married with children. The thought that if their children left for several years made them uncomfortable.

Knowing their wives wanted to bathe, the two brothers helped fetch the water.

Zhao Tian took the four children out to play. It was also an opportunity for the villagers to see that the children were back.

After bathing, the two sisters-in-law washed their clothes.

Then the three ladies started making dumplings.

In this little village, news spread quickly. Everyone knew that the Zhao family's two sons had brought their wives and children back.

In the evening, the family gathered to eat dinner, and Zhao Tian was so happy. He had long awaited a full house of children and grandchildren; today it came true.

The next day, the two brothers went out for a walk since this was where they grew up. They wanted to see their childhood friends too.

The people of their age were already settled down, serving as the backbone of their respective families.

The two brothers visited Yang Hongwen's house.

"It's good that you're back, it's really good. From the looks of it, you've been doing well out there."

"Uncle, we've been managing. Those two years were tough; without Yuanyuan, we might not have made it through."

"That's what family is for—to help each other. By the way, you know Yuanyuan is in the Capital, right?"

The two brothers nodded, "We know. It was only through Xiao Li receiving a letter from Yuanyuan that we found out."

"How long do you plan to stay home?"

"Uncle, we want to bring our parents along with us. We're thinking of registering in the county after the fifteenth."

Yang Hongwen nodded, "That's good. This is great. Your parents are still capable. What's important is that your family stays together."

The two brothers nodded. Indeed, only after meeting their parents did they realize how hard it was for them living alone at home.

After leaving Yang Hongwen's house, they went to Yang Minggang's house.

The whole family was there.

"Where is Chunsheng?"

"Chunsheng went to work at the enamel factory in the Capital."

"That's great. It's really hard to secure a stable job like that."

The brothers immediately understood; this must have been arranged by Su Yuanyuan. They didn't know anyone in the Capital, but Yuanyuan was there.

"Uncle, our parents are coming with us."

"That's right. Although they're capable, they're not young anymore. Children are meant to care for parents in old age; you can't leave them alone."

The two brothers nodded, agreeing that the villagers were right. They should have brought their parents over years ago.

After leaving the Yang family's place, they went home. They felt that they couldn't recapture the closeness they once shared with their childhood friends.

It made sense. Everyone was now married with children, not the kids who used to catch shrimp in the river together.

During lunch, they talked about Chunsheng's job.

"Who wouldn't be envious? But firstly, the relationships with Su Yuanyuan are strained, and secondly, there's no one to approach."

The Su Family is the most upset. I saw Su Daqiang had mouth sores.

Sun Yun laughed, "Yuanyuan's advantages aren't for everyone."

"True, Aunt was really good to Yuanyuan back then."

"Yes, that girl is truly impressive."

"Mom, can you talk about Yuanyuan's family situation? Xiao Li mentioned it before, but wasn't very clear."

"Actually, Su Daqiang and his family of three left the eight-year-old Yuanyuan behind and went to the farm. The girl almost died, and after that, she changed and started living her own way."

Sun Yun rolled her eyes, thinking her mother-in-law was not very good at storytelling, not even as clear as Xiao Li.

"Mom, how are things with the Su Family now? Did Yuanyuan go back and let them take advantage?"

"Yuanyuan's advantages are there for them to take? I heard Tian Xiaohua and Su Liangliang went, but how could they possibly take advantage? That girl is something else."

Both sisters-in-law nodded. Indeed, Yuanyuan was quite impressive. Sun Yun knew best, recalling their visit to the Xiang Family; her way with words was already impressive.

"Mom and Dad, back then, it was also Yuanyuan who helped us; otherwise, who knows what might have happened?" Zhao Qingxiang said with a sigh, remembering the early days after they arrived and feeling fearful.
