Chapter 1084: Origami
Yina neatly placed five pieces of her origami art and looked at Alix with bright eyes.
"Pastry aunt! This is for you!"
Alix saw her hand her art which more or less looked like a dolphin. "Dolphin."
She beamed and nodded hard.
Taio was attempting to make a car in which he was miserably failing. Aang and Ailun were sincerely working on their essays.
Aang was the first one to hand out his essay first with his nose elongating in pride. Alix took a quick scan of his essay and asked, "What was your topic?"
"Perks of Rainy Season."
"Then how did your rainy season turn into a bunch of aliens fighting galaxy wars?"
Aang nodded with all seriousness. "They were fighting for the rainy season to come on their planet, Pastry aunt."
"Or maybe you ran out of ideas to write about the rainy season."
"T-That's not true at all…"
She scoffed. "Rewrite it."
Aang gasped and looked at her pitifully. "Pastry aunt, I worked very hard for my essay!"
"If the topic was galaxy wars, I would have surely given it a five on ten."
"Why not full marks?"
"Spelling mistakes and wrong grammar usage. Rewrite it. About the rainy season this time. No more wars."
She then cast a casual glance at Ailun's work and pointed at one, two and three places. "Wrong. You are using the incorrect article here. It should be 'an' not 'a.' This sentence should be before this sentence. Rewrite it."
Ailun looked at her, starry-eyed. "Pastry aunt can read by flip side too?"
He was seated opposite her so the words on his page looked upside down to Alix.
"Yeah?"
"Pastry aunt is so cool!" Yina shone.
Alix immediately felt Nian's reaction, who shot dark beams of dissatisfied rays at her.
"Yi-Yina dear, is there no gift for your Dada?" He pointed at her work of art.
Yina pondered. Then she picked up one piece of paper. "This for Dada!"
Nian was ready to die a happy death at that moment.
"Is this a spaceship?" He sparkled.
Tears pooled in her eyes. "No space ship. Dada don't know what it is?"
His brow twitched hard. "O-Of course I do! My bad, my bad. My blind eyes couldn't see your rocket."
"Waaaa! Dada don't know…" she burst into tears.
Nian panicked, tears brimming in his eyes too. "No, no, dear! I definitely know what it is! Hehe, Dada's eyes are getting a little weak."
He inwardly sweated.
Okay if it's not a rocket or a spaceship, then what is it? A car? A ship? A plane? No, no! If I am wrong this time then my Yina will hate meee!!!
Alix let out a yawn. She was enjoying his misery. For wasting her earlier time with his idiotic nonsense, his tears immensely satisfied her heart.
She grabbed a notebook and scribbled something on it. Then she raised it at Nian's eye level. He squinted his eyes.
"Bu-Butterfly!"
That brought the bright smile back on her lips. "En! Buttefly!"
Alix shrugged. She was enjoying his tears, not Yina's.
Nian cried with her happy smile but at the time was left dumbfounded by Alix's talent. Yina was only four years old and as such her origami art…wasn't so refined to be able to distinguish between a rocket and a butterfly.
Taio happily showed his work of art next.
Alix raised a brow. "Nice one. That battle tank is detailed."
"Yes!" He shone and happily went back to creating another one. The cats watched him in all sincerity.
Nian was speechless. He looked at his nephew's origami which could even barely pass on for being called a car.
How the hell did she see a battle tank in that mess? It's just a crumpled piece of paper!
"What are you doing here?" Jin asked with grey clouds hovering over his head.
He would have appreciated some other family member building a bond with Alix, not the twins. And Liu Hai. And Jing.
"Jin! Come here, come here!" He furiously patted the space beside him.
Jin threw him a disdainful look but went anyway. He threw a cautious glance at Alix. He would have never thought that Nian would already be successful in making his way into Alix's space right on the second day without her raining down bullets all over his body.
How did he do that?
Author - By being an idiot.
Nian violently pulled his collar and whispered into his ear. "Do you recognize what my dearest daughter Yina made for me?" He sneakily pointed at his origami. "But don't shout your answer! Whisper it in my ears!"
His expression twisted. "I don't wanna get that close to you. Ew."
"Just shut up and tell me!"
Jin frowned and took a look. "Rocket?"
He gasped. "And the one beside Taio."
"That's just crumpled paper. Isn't it trash?"
"Ahhaaa!!!"
He exclaimed so loudly that it caught the kids' attention.
"*Ahem* Go back to your essays. Uncle Jin and I are having some serious conversation."
Nian pulled his collar again. "That's exactly what I thought! So how come your wife is able to accurately tell that it's a butterfly and a battle tank!?"
Jin took a look again. He looked back at Nian. "No way that's a battle tank. It's just a crumpled piece of paper."
Just then, Yina trotted to Jin's side and chirped. "Uncle, this for you!"
Jin stared at her art work and saw something protruding from the top but he had no clue what it was. But he had to be right or the sparkle in her eyes was at risk of turning into full blown tears.
"That's amazing. Obviously that's…that's…" he swallowed a gulp, his brow twitching incessantly.
He looked up at Alix and Alix looked down at Ailun, clearly unwilling to help. He drilled his gaze into her until her mouth twitched hard and she glared at him. She scribbled on Ailun's notebook again and raised it.
"Ah, bunny! Yes, that's a very cute rabbit. Thank you so much, dear."
Yina danced in joy. "Uncle Jin know!"
Jin averted the crisis. Or rather Alix did but hell even he failed to understand how she did that.
Nian looked in horror.
Those were bunny ears on the top? I-I mean, yes! What else would they be if not bunny ears? My daughter is the most talented in this whole wide world!
Yina then walked to Alix and handed her a second piece of her artwork. "For pastry aunt!"
Alix blinked and then arched her brow. "Really?"
"En!"
Jin and Nian blinked twice and tilted their heads.
"Uncle is bunny and pastry aunt is wolf!"
Jin - "..."
"H-Hold on, shouldn't I be the…wo-wolf?"
Yina turned and frowned. "How can Uncle be wolf. Uncle is bunny because Uncle is cute. Pastry aunt is wolf because pastry aunt is strong and cool! Wolf and bunny!"
