Chapter 4: Chapter : Judged by a Gold-Digger's Heart
A group of hospital security guards tried to grab Luo Qunhang.
"Sir, what are you doing? You can't just beat people up in a hospital. Come with us."
But as soon as his icy gaze swept across them—cold as the glaciers of Antarctica—they stopped in their tracks. Standing at attention, they bluffed and shouted, but didn't dare take a step forward.
Only then did the two stunned young women snap out of their daze and simultaneously pointed at the real thugs.
One guard hesitated and glanced at Luo Qunhang. "It wasn't you? But those two look really messed up…"
Luo Qunhang didn't bother to reply. It had been years since he fought someone. His wrist was actually a little sore now.
The lead guard squinted at him. "Really not you?"
Everyone in the room collectively rolled their eyes to the ceiling.
Finally, the guards gave up interrogating and dragged the two groaning, bruised men out of the room. Fortunately, they were already in a hospital—no need to call an ambulance.
Luo Qunhang swept his cold gaze across the room.Silence fell instantly.
Xinkan shrank back, hiding behind Sweetie's mom.
That terrifying man… what if he hadn't just kicked him away? What if he'd thrown in a few extra flying kicks, stomped that polished leather shoe onto his face, ruined his handsome looks…?
Unthinkable.
The two girls clasped hands. Disillusioned. So, Mr. Luo wasn't marriage material after all. With a temper like that, one marital argument and Mrs. Luo might end up worse than those two thugs.
Tina snorted coldly and adjusted her hideous black glasses.
"Thanks," she said.
The two girls gasped softly. They'd never seen "Tiantian" this bold before.
Tina added, "Thanks for calling the cops. Not for playing the hero."
Luo Qunhang raised a brow. No, it wasn't his imagination—this employee of his really, truly hated him.
But why?Could it be some personal grudge? Was she the one who leaked confidential files?
Just as he was about to speak, the hospital room door slammed open.
A crowd of people rushed in.
The man in the lead was about forty, balding with a big belly—sleazy middle-aged man vibes. His face was filled with panic and disbelief.
"Tina! Tina, are you okay?!"
Luo Qunhang's eyes narrowed slightly.Tina's boss.
Tina's heart jumped at the sound of that familiar voice.
Uncle Cai!
She nearly moved but held herself still. Her eyes welled up behind the thick black frames, lips trembling with emotion.
Uncle Cai looked around and didn't see her. He snapped, "Where is she? Didn't you say she was electrocuted and rushed here?"
Luo Qunhang froze slightly and narrowed his eyes.
Tina stared at Uncle Cai, her emotions overwhelming her.
A coworker rushed to explain, "We checked downstairs. This is the room. No mistake."
Sweetie's mom spoke up timidly, "Are you talking about a very pretty girl… light brown wavy hair, tall, like a model?"
The whole group shouted, "Yes! Where is she?!"
Sweetie's mom looked uncomfortable, almost like a helpless doctor forced to deliver bad news. She lowered herself into the chair and said, "She was brought in early this morning, but… she'd been without a heartbeat for too long. The doctor said she died."
Died?!
Two strong hands clamped down on Sweetie's mom's shoulders.
A burning gaze—cold and murderous.
It wasn't Uncle Cai.It was Luo Qunhang.
His face was pale. His glare was like a flame scorching everyone it touched.
Sweetie's mom nearly cried under the pressure."I… I heard the doctor say her name was Lin Tina… They've taken her to the morgue now."
Luo Qunhang cursed under his breath. It couldn't be true.He whipped out his phone and started dialing.
Seconds later, Celine Dion's A New Day Has Come began playing in the room.
Tina sat up straight.
Her ringtone.
How did he know her number? Oh right, as a saleswoman, she handed out business cards like flyers. He was her competitor. Not weird at all.
The music kept ringing.
Everyone started searching.
Uncle Cai's eyes caught a flash of red by the pillow. He rushed over, snatched up the phone, and cried out, "It's real! It's really her phone!"
Luo Qunhang grabbed it from him, unlocked it, and flipped through: Contacts, messages, call logs—everything matched. This was Lin Tina's phone.
Had she really died? Was she truly gone? How did she die?Why the f** did she die?!*
His heart pounded like thunder.A sharp pain slashed through it like a dagger. This was heartbreak.
The woman who used to laugh so fearlessly, so recklessly…
He had to see her. Immediately.
He clenched the phone and stormed out the door.
