Chapter 29: Chapter 29 Helen Cho
Far away from earth I entered the portal once again and went to the beginning of similar timeline to year 1999. Reappearing in clouds above the earth.
Due to my entry the timeline is now shielded. With my cosmic awareness, I sensed a strand of timeline escaping from temporal loom of sacred timeline obvious to it and without affecting it or destroying it, undetected by the Time Variance Authority (TVA). This meant they couldn't intervene here—a pleasing development.
It means that TVA can't enter here. Timeline shift didn't go unnoticed by Ancient one Yao, as I could observe from her checking with Time stone and yet getting only a singular future with blurry vision. Ignoring the panic at Kamar Taj, I observed her information catalogues, tomes and found that magic knowledge is consistent with what I know from observation before.
As I floated through the air, I mused over my next move. "I've used my physical body in the first realm, borrowed someone else's identity in the second... perhaps I should opt for a spiritual body this time? I'm not in the mood to alter reality again just to establish myself. The paperwork back then was enough to make even an omnipotent being groan, even though it become easy now. 'Hmm for that should I convince someone? or force my way into someone's mind? First let me check the characters of relevance.'
"Maya Henson... Aldrich Killian... Bruce Banner...Shuri... Natasha Romanoff... Darcy Lewis...Wanda Maximoff... Pietro Maximoff... Helen Cho... Maria Hill... Hope van dyne... Melinda May... Pepper Potts? ...Nick Fury heck no, Sharon carter?... should I become an android? " I questioned while observing with my divine sense.
After half a day of consideration, I finally decided on Helen Cho as the ideal host. The advantages were clear: she's a genius, comes from a respectable background, has reasonable wealth, and most importantly, without any messianic hero complex or maniacal villain tendencies. Plus, she's not romantically entangled with anyone at the moment. Being from South Korea adds a nice change of pace, and as a side character in the grander schemes, I didn't sense any timelines where she would gain significant powers.
I arrived in Seoul, South Korea. Helen Cho lives in a sleek, modern high-rise apartment in the heart of Gangnam, a district renowned for its luxurious lifestyle and technological innovation. Her apartment mirrors her personality—minimalist yet filled with cutting-edge gadgets and scientific literature. A small lab occupies one corner of her living room, the center of her late-night research sessions. The walls are lined with framed diplomas and awards, interspersed with a few pieces of art that serve as inspiration. The atmosphere is a perfect blend of comfort and focus, designed to keep her mind sharp and her research flowing.
At that moment, data on stem cell differentiation streamed from her incubator, feeding into the model she'd crafted for tissue regeneration. Helen adjusted her microscope, glancing at the petri dish holding her latest sample. Her focus shifted to her notes and calculations, often.
The cells were responding far better than expected, and with each keystroke, she documented her findings.
Experiment #103: Stem Cell Differentiation for Rapid Tissue Regeneration
Date: July 25, 1999
...
The experimental group showed rapid differentiation into epithelial tissue within 48 hours. No evidence of abnormal growth or genetic instability. This suggests potential applications for regenerative medicine.

Watching her so engrossed in her work, I decided to stir things up for fun. With a thought, I transformed into a pure spiritual form, slipping unnoticed into her consciousness. Inside, I found myself in her memory palace—a stunningly organized mental construct. Using the flawless Sky Theft Soul Exchange technique from the Temporal Demon Spirit Book. Gaining dominion over her body was simple; after all, she was just an ordinary mortal.
I could transform her body to be more like my own, though it would cost some divine power. But why bother? Instead, I anchored my soul to her material body, establishing myself as the primary soul and relegating her to the secondary. A small soul connection tethered us now.
In the outside world, not even a second had passed. I quickly adjusted to her body, completing her research notes with observations she had overlooked, and even added a few suggestions to enhance the study. Standing from her desk, I meticulously tidying up her workspace, placing each experimental item in its proper order before exploring the apartment. Satisfied with my inspection, I settled into her bed and fell asleep.
Back in the consciousness space, I reappeared. The original Helen—now just a small speck of light—was there, waiting for me. With a flick of my will, I reshaped her consciousness into a more tangible form, materializing her as an astral body. It wasn't something she could have achieved without cultivation, but it would suffice.
In the darkness of her mental landscape, I stood opposite her, now appearing as a strikingly handsome young man.
"I've taken over your body," I said plainly.
Her eyes widened, panic settling in. "I... I can't control my body! You did this? How? Where am I? Why am I floating?"
"You're in your mind," I explained patiently, shifting the mental landscape to a serene memory of hers—a walk through the South Korean countryside. "You're floating because you're just a soul now. Don't worry, you're not dead. I'm a god—well, sort of—and I thought it would be fun to live as you for a while. So, I took over."
"Soul is real.? Wait a god? For fun? You're out of your mind! This is a dream right, let me out ..." she shouted, launching into a tirade of curses. When she finally calmed down, she asked, "This is real. So, what happens to me now? Do I just… cease to exist?"
I shook my head. "Not at all. I'll leave someday, and when I do, you'll get full control of your body back. I might even leave behind a few gifts. For now, I'll only take control most of the time, but I'll let you come through occasionally."
She stared at me, defeated. "I… I can't really do anything to stop you, can I? But I have one condition. No matter what, you can't do bad things with my body. No engaging in sex with others or self-harm. I want my body back intact."
"Agreed," I replied easily. "In fact, I was already thinking about changing appearances. It doesn't feel right being a man in your space." With a thought, I shifted my form to resemble a female version of myself, divine and otherworldly. "You can call me Tao, and I'll call you Cho."
Helen Cho looked at the divine beauty with cautious acceptance, even starting to blush. Our strange partnership had begun.
"I've set up a space here. While one is in control, the other can stay here, feeling all the sensations and inputs from outside, if they want to, without actually being in control." I stated.
The next day, I strolled around her place and did her work having suggestions from her and with my own ideas. Research was pretty interesting. Knowing stuff and doing stuff are different. Speaking of my own identity. I am Helen Cho a 19 year old post graduate scholar in an integrated PhD course at Korea Advanced Biotechnology Research Institute, in pre- final year.
A month has gone by. She dropped her enmity, I learned to communicate in native Korean, Japanese and Mandarin, just like herself and is now bickering back and forth like Jean and I used to. Currently she is reading some books I materialized from my knowledge from the omniscience. Well... adapting to mortal human life, with all its annoying biological needs, was a task I was more than happy to delegate back to her whenever it became too bothersome.
As a part of study, we were requested to teach students at Seoul National University for undergraduate courses. It was actually fun, me with my infinite wisdom, often got lost in explaining too much of even undiscovered theories. Which is why, currently I am in the back seat while she is doing the work. I have her knowledge from brain. Add it with LoHP and scientific knowledge, I perceive from future realities, I could simulate an entire human body working down to her genes in my sage mind.
Her research work is developing exponentially faster with me doing the work flawlessly and checking state of experiment with LoHP and she exploring what and how to do. If it's the other way, then it will be boring for both of us.
