Chapter 9
7 months later……
"Mark, have they arrived yet?" Chise asked her husband nervously.
It’s been six months since she discovered that she was pregnant.
Both she and Mark couldn’t believe that it actually happened.
About a month ago, Mark had sent a letter to both their parents to share the good news about their adopted son Draco and Chise’s miraculous pregnancy.
Word had returned from Chise’s parents saying that they will be arriving today, but there had been no news yet from Mark’s parents.
"No, they haven’t," Mark replied to Chise.
"I am a bit nervous, it’s been a long time since I met them," Chise muttered in worry.
Chise had run away from home when she was young because she didn’t want to be an adventurer like her parents.
When she finally returned, she suddenly presented a man from the Chientrope race to them as her future husband.
Obviously, they were against it, and so were Mark’s parents.
Having a child between their races was almost impossible, so they tried to break them up.
Mark and Chise obviously resisted and came to settle in their current village.
They hadn’t spoken much with their parents since then.
But now they were blessed with children, they felt that they could now physically prove to their parents that their union wasn’t a mistake.
Draco, on the other hand, just laid quietly in Chise’s arms.
The first two months of his stay with Chise and Mark were hell for him.
They were intimate every night, and he could do nothing but listen. He even began regretting having enhanced senses.
'With how much they fucked all night, it would be strange if mom didn’t get pregnant,' Draco thought.
Dad and mom were words he never got to say in his past life.
At first, he was extremely reluctant to even entertain the thought of calling them that, but after thinking of several worst case scenario’s he thought differently.
After saying it once in his mind, he realized that it wasn’t so bad. So he sometimes practiced the words.
Being an orphan in the Danmachi world wasn’t a good thing as he knew that he could have easily ended up at the very bottom of their society.
Orario also wasn’t a nice place to currently be due to several upcoming disastrous event.
So he was grateful that there were even people willing to take care if him.
‘Sigh, today I get to meet my maternal grandparents. Hopefully, they are cool people,’ Draco thought.
Time slipped away and it soon reached the late afternoon, but there was still no sight of Chise’s parents.
“Do you think they changed their minds?” Chise asked in a dejected tone.
"No, there must be something delaying them," Mark replied softly.
Draco had eaten to his fill not too long ago and fell asleep.
Over time, they had discovered that Draco was an awfully quiet baby.
He only cried when he was hungry or wet himself; other times he just found ways to entertain himself, much to their relief.
But Chise was always on guard due to his transformation ability.
She thought that he would harm himself with it since it triggered at odd times.
She wasn’t aware that Draco controlled his transformation and was just experimenting with it.
Knock! Knock!
It was in the early evening when a knock suddenly shattered the silence of the house.
“Coming,” Chise said before approaching the door. Upon opening the door, her body froze. It was her parents.
“Mother,” Chise called out softly as tears streamed down her face.
“Chise,” her mother, who was named Rita, called out too with tears running down her face.
Rita then rushed forward and pulled Chise into a light hug.
“I missed you so much,” Chise mumbled, pulling her mother into a tighter hug.
“Ahem,” Chise’s father, named Marcus, feigned coughing so they remembered that he was there.
“Dad, I missed you too,” Chise said to her father and hugged him too.
“Mother, father, welcome,” Mark, who noticed the commotion, greeted.
“Mark, have you been well?” Rita replied and gave him a light hug.
“Who is he calling father?” Marcus mumbled and reluctantly offered a handshake.
“Aaah,” Marcus held back gasping in pain; Rita was pinching his back.
“Mark my son, it’s so good to see you,” Marcus cheerfully greeted with a forced smile.
“Ah, great to see you too,” Mark hesitatingly replied, a bit confused at the sudden change in Marcus's demeanor.
“Come in and have a seat,” Mark offered since they were still at the entrance.
Soon they were all seated, then Mark and Chise began explaining how the current situation came to be.
They made sure to keep the vials they took a secret, it was something that could lead to disaster if it was known.
Asta had said that it was something that couldn't be recreated but if others found out, would they believe them ?.
It was better to just chalk it up as the blessings of the gods, something that wasn’t too far from the truth but Mark and Chise didnt know this.
“I see, so that’s how it is,” Marcus nodded in understanding.
“So where is my grandson?” Rita asked.
“Ah, he is sleeping. Come with me,” Chise said, dragging her mother with her.
Mark and Marcus were left alone and didn’t know how to interact.
“So what do you do for a living?” Marcus asked.
“I am an architect,” Mark replied.
“Hmm, it’s a decent job…” Marcus nodded in approval before keeping silent.
The atmosphere soon became awkward; they didn’t have any similar interests to talk about.
Meanwhile, in another room, Chise and Rita were having fun.
“Oh my, he looks so cute sleeping,” Rita whispered.
“I know, right? Mom, try touching his scales,” Chise said.
“Oooh, so soft. It’s almost like paw pads,” Rita replied while pushing against Draco’s scales.
“Watch what happens when I do this,” Chise said. She then started gently rubbing the underside of Draco’s tail.
A weakness she had found when bathing him every day. The underside of Draco’s tail was extremely sensitive.
“Raaaah,” Draco cried out in his sleep, flailing his little hands and feet while smiling.
“Awawawa, that’s so cute, was that a roar. Can I try too?” Rita asked.
“Sure, just do it lightly or he might wake up,” Chise replied.
“Ohhhh, how interesting,” Rita said while rubbing his tail.
‘What about his horns?’ Rita thought curiously reached for his tiny growing horns.
As soon as she touched it, Draco’s tiny hand suddenly grabbed her finger.
His eyes wide open and his ruby red eye slits dilated, menacingly staring at her, which startled Rita.
Rita hastily removed her hand from it. After she did, Draco’s eyes closed, and he continued sleeping like nothing happened.
“Pffff, HaHaHa,” Chise tried to stifle her laughter.
“What’s so funny?” Rita asked.
“You should have seen your face,” Chise replied.
“Silly girl, what was that?” Rita asked, flicking Chise on her forehead.
“Ouch, why did you hit me?” Chise questioned.
“Just because, now answer my question,” Rita replied.
“I don’t really know, he probably just doesn’t like his horns being touched,” Chise replied.
“Interesting, seems to be some type of defense mechanism,” Rita muttered.
They continued having fun messing with the sleeping Draco until late in the evening, where they had a cheerful dinner.
