Chapter 908: Please boss, No more orders !!!
18th May 1673
"What, why?"
Salim Allahabadi was shocked and worried when the order came from the Sub Inspector to return all the weapons in the station immediately. Salim was scared; he worked very hard to be a police officer, especially an inspector, but now he was being asked to return all the guns. Was he going to be fired? 'But I didn't do anything wrong, ' 'I even won the best officer medal last year, ' he asked himself, distraught.
Thankfully, when he was in distress, he heard a constable under him speaking about guns being taken back from the next village's police station. This gave him some hope. "Somanna, come here, did you say that the guns are being collected from the police station in the next village? How come you know this news?"
"Ah.. yes, sir, I have a buddy who joined the police service with me, he works in the Bolla Khand police station. It was he who told me that guns in their police station are being taken back as well." The constable Somanna immediately responded.
Salim Allahabadi finally felt relieved, 'So whatever the higher ups are thinking, it is not directed towards me', "Inshallah", his tensed shoulders finally relaxed.
Similar situations happened in every village, town, and city of Sindh. The police officers were a little panicked since they didn't know why their guns were being taken back, but when they got to know that they were not alone, they eventually calmed down.
There were a few police officers, despite knowing that it was an order issued to every police station in the state, didn't want to give back their beloved guns, but when they got to know that they would be replaced with newer and better guns, they reluctantly returned their guns with the only punishment of one week of patrol work for insubordination. But there were still some police who were deeply attached to their guns and did not give them back, no matter the reason. Unfortunately, such police officers had to be fired immediately, and their guns forcefully taken back. Eventually, some of them went on to become thugs. But that was just a small hiccup for the whole operation, which was of vital importance to the empire's internal and external security.
Throughout the empire, Vijay's orders were being carried out without any delay. Arjun, the Minister of Internal Affairs, knew that the war in Europe would go on for a while, but he did not want to take the gamble, so he immediately started to collect the old muskets from all village-level police stations, and older versions of Shakti rifles from all taluk and district-level police stations as well.
If possible, Arjun wanted to simultaneously take back all the weapons throughout the empire, but unfortunately, there were no replacement weapons available immediately, so, according to the 48,000 Shakti rifles that were in stock, he started the weapons upgrade initiative from the state of Sindh.
A similar thing happened in several regiments as well. The older weapons of the military were taken back and replaced by the newer weapons that were in stock, produced by the three military conglomerates.
Facing the continuous orders from Russia, the Holy Roman Empire, and now from the empire's police department, the army, and the navy, the pressure on the three military conglomerates increased heavily.
Charan Gowda, the director of Dynasty Corporation, immediately called for an executive meeting, summoning all the executive managers of the company.
Even before Charan could speak out the reason for calling for the executive meeting, the top managers of the company began to complain bitterly like wronged children complaining to their mothers.
"Boss, this can't go on anymore. The middle-level and higher-level staff are overworked; we need a break."
"Boss, we will have to expand the factory again, the 300 factories we have are no longer enough."
"Leader, we are having trouble finding capable workers, please advise."
All the complaints made Charan extremely annoyed, "Alright, enough," he roared, silencing everyone in an instant.
Noticing that everyone had calmed down, he sat down, clearing his throat.
He threw several documents onto the desk and looked at the executives with seriousness, "We received over 60,000 orders for improved Shakti Rifles and 5,000 units of Vajra pistol from the Gupta Nagari Police Department."
"What!!", one of the executives was immediately shocked, "Didn't we already sell nearly all the Shakti rifles in our inventory to Sindhu Police Department, now why is Gupta Nagari Police Department coming out and placing orders all of a sudden?"
All the executives had the same question on their minds. They suddenly became agitated, like ants on a hot pot.
"Calm down and listen", Charan Gowda was getting impatient as he rubbed his temple. he could feel the headache coming.
"The Gupta Nagari Police Department isn't the only one placing orders; several other states have as well. And it doesn't stop there; multiple regiments have requested the Dhanush 61 rifle, the Teeragni carbine, the Simhaastra rifle, and the upgraded Shikari C50 and C60 sharpshooters."
"That's not all, we've also received artillery orders."
"In total, we're looking at over 200,000 units ordered so far."
The executives immediately collapsed in their hearts. Usually, getting a lot of orders is a good thing for any commercial business, but for them it has become a ticket for early retirement.
Looking at his subordinates who had suddenly become listless, Charan Gowda felt bitter in his heart. In fact, he could understand how they feel, wearing jewellery is naturally a good thing, but if the jewellery weighs hundreds of kilograms, enough to crush anyone, who could bear it? But even if he is bitter, there was nothing he could do. Quickly reining in his emotions, his eyes became sharp like those of an eagle.
"We are going to expand the factories once again, and we must accept all the orders and complete them without fail." He left no room for refutation.
The executives looked like they had lost all hope of life.
However, suddenly a weak voice was heard, "But director, even with all the production plants added together, we can barely complete the orders coming in from Europe. If we add the orders from the various police departments and various regiments and various miscellaneous orders from Southeast Nations and Middle East Nations, it is practically impossible to take on all the orders unless we push the deadline of delivery for several years." This voice was like a candlelight in the darkest night, attracting the expectations, gratitude, and relief from all the executives.
Unfortunately, the light was ruthlessly extinguished by Charan Gowda as if it were just an ember in the ocean.
"It doesn't matter, it's not like we will never get another steam engine anyway. The third batch of Kesari engines is about to be sold. We should be able to get another hundred Kesari engines; we can make do with them for now until the fourth batch is manufactured."
Thinking about some of the problems brought out, he added, "We don't have to be constrained by the rigid deadline system. With every steam engine we add, the efficiency of the manufacturing increases several times, so we can be flexible in this aspect. For the date of delivery, we can give a deadline which we would give if we had to manufacture everything using the machine tools powered by hydro energy."
"I don't believe we won't get more steam engines by then, and I don't believe we can't finish the orders quicker."
"As for overworked employees in middle-level and higher positions, I agree that we have a huge problem. Making humans work 11 hours a day, 6 times a week, can never be a good thing, but we are currently in a critical situation, we can't afford to take breaks." He was irritated about this situation, but suddenly he got an idea, a cruel grin appeared on the corner of his mouth, "You know what, let us start poaching people from the manufacturing companies in the civilian circle. It doesn't matter who we offend this time, I will explain it to His Majesty. No matter what, life should be made easier for the middle and high-level employees."
"Moving on, the problem of finding capable workers is indeed hard. I will talk to His Majesty about it. For now, increase the number of interns we recruit from all the colleges. Reduce the eligibility criteria from first-tier college graduates to second-tier college graduates, as long as they pass the loyalty and integrity tests."
"Now that everything has been addressed, perk up your ears and listen up, I need you all to be at your peak, I don't care if you have to make the company your home."
Charan looked at each manager as if he were a general looking at his soldiers.
"Since we no longer have to be dependent on the energy generated by the rivers, I have made a decision."
"We will shift the main manufacturing plant of our company directly to the military capital of the Empire, Nagpur."
"I have received some information from the general manager of the royal family's assets. It is said that a whole industrial chain of supporting military industrial enterprises will be built in Nagpur. If we settle here, our costs of procurement could be reduced by a lot, not to mention that the Kesari engines are currently being manufactured in Nagpur."
"Since we no longer have to be constrained by the flow of water, the size of the factory can be increased so that more production plants could be added under one roof. All of you are managers of various factories, you don't want me to tell how efficient this can be."
"So I have decided, and I have already run this by Sir Bhaskar Acharya. Dynasty Corporation will immediately invest 100 million varaha to build 4 mega factories in Nagpur in a 1000-acre complex, capable of taking on nearly 30% of all production tasks of the company."
"Even if the complete construction cannot be completed, I need at least the power rooms to be completed within three months."
"The third batch of Kesari engines will be directly shipped to Nagpur."
"We don't have the time to waste, so get going, now!!"
