Reborn In 17th century India with Black Technology

Chapter 691 Opportunity of Kirtana

Vikram knew that the guy misunderstood, so he quickly shook his head. "No, no, no. How can we fire talents like you?"

"What I mean is, are you willing to take over the job as the head of steam machine operations?"

"Steam... mac.. hene?" Angul looked clueless

" Yes steam machine ", "You see those engineers there?" Vikram pointed.

Angul nodded.

"What they are doing now, that will be your job if you agree. The requirement to do the job is simple—we just need a person who knows how to read and write, and you are perfect for the job. Pick out a few men under you to help you out."

Angul suddenly felt like he understood. So he was not being fired, just changing jobs. But he was hesitant. "But Sir, I do not know how to operate that thing, and I don't even know what the thing is used for."

Vikram shook his head. "You don't have to worry about that. The engineers will be responsible for making you understand the basic principles of the machine, enough for you to operate it."

"As for what it is used for you will know about this soon enough "

"So tell me, are you interested? are you willing to do the job?"

Angul was silent. No matter how simple the leader made it out to be, just by looking at the machine, he felt a little panicked. He could tell it was very dangerous.

Continue your journey with empire

Noticing the dilemma, Anil Kumar, who had been silent until now, suddenly threw out the offer.

"Your salary will be increased to 2,900 Varaha per month, and the company insurance will be upgraded to Raya Insurance Firm,"

The people who were listening to the conversation were immediately stunned. As formen, their salary was around 1,200 Varaha per month—it was already considered a high-salary job in the empire. But 2,900 Varaha was already in the league of the higher middle class of the empire. All fourmen looked at Angul with a hint of jealousy and envy.

"I will do it." Angul immediately decided. He was still a little nervous, but the money he was offered was enough to make him risk his life.

The Patnaik Brothers and Anil Kumar didn't say anything and smiled.

An engineer suddenly came forward and said, "Sir, send someone over to check whether the quantity of water has gone down."

"Oh right," Anil Kumar looked around and suddenly pointed at a foreman. "Go to the mine and see if the water has gone down."

The foreman, who was pointed out, his eyes widened as he finally connected the water coming out of the ground with the water in the mine. 'Could this machine be sucking out all the water from the mine?' he thought. Suddenly, he became excited and ran to the mine entrance.

The fourmen who were acting as the audience looked at the machine with awe.

Angul clenched his fist tightly, 'Yes, yes!' He seemed to have inadvertently become an important person for the mine.

The foreman quickly ran back with an excited smile. "The water really reduced! Although only by a few centimetres, it really did reduce!"

There was immediately loud applause and cheers heard throughout the mining site. Even the miners who were not allowed to come near the steam engine heard the sound of celebration. They did not know what was happening, but they still understood that something good had happened to the company, and since most of them had already signed the two-year contract, they knew that good times were ahead for them.

Similar scenes were seen in all the top seven mining companies of Bharat. They all received their atmospheric steam engines, and the engineers quickly assembled the machines. Water within the mines was sucked out by the steam engines relentlessly, and within a few hours, the miners were able to start the mining process, extracting the minerals from the mine.

The first step of the Industrial Revolution officially kicked off for the Bharatiya Empire in the 17th century.

---

Mining is a sector that forms the foundation for industry in any society. But it is quite far away from common people; the common people normally have nothing to do with the mining industry, yet it has everything to do with industrial enterprises, and they are keenly aware of the changes in the mining industry.

In the city square of Mangaluru,

The traders and tourists who came to see the only stock market of the Bharatiya Empire were stunned because suddenly the stock price of Kombay Minerals rose from 75 Varaha per share to 97.5 Varaha. It was an increase of 30%, and even the market capitalization jumped from 93.6 million to over 121.68 million. Kombay Minerals officially crossed the 100 million mark, a milestone only a few companies in the empire had reached.

"Omg, double the profits in a year! Damn, I should have bought this stock!"

"Tsk tsk tsk. I don't know what is going on in the mining industry, but anything that is even remotely related to it is experiencing a rise in profits and prices."

The people began to speculate among each other. They were not dumb. Although they couldn't see directly what was happening, the rise in price was so drastic that they knew something good must have happened in the mining industry. So much so that the sentiment even affected the stock price of MSE itself, making it rise by 0.5%.

Kirtana Jyoti is normally a very serious person. She is stern in the company in order to maintain a dignified image in front of the employees. Being a woman, if she is not ruthless, no one would listen to her, so it had become a habit for her to have no emotions on her face. But today, in the office, she couldn't help but laugh loudly.

'It paid off, my bet really paid off,' 'Hahah, Krishna really helped me, hahah.'

Through various intelligence channels, she finally got to know why no mining locations were being sold, and she also understood why the stock price of Kombay Minerals and related companies started to rise so drastically.

"Still, who would have expected His Majesty to invent such an amazing machine that could automatically suck out all the water from the mines?" She lamented, a hint of admiration could be heard in her tone.

Kirtana heard the office door opening, but she didn't turn around since she only knew one person who would come to her office before knocking, and it was her assistant, Loka Yagni, alone.

"The thing I asked you to do, is it done?"

Loka Yagni nodded heavily. "Director, I did put forward the proposal to wholly acquire Basava Mining, but Mr. Prathvi was very adamant about not selling the company or its shares," She lowered her head with a little disappointment

Kirtana immediately frowned. She did try her best to halt the postman as much as possible without making it too obvious, and due to her efforts, she really did delay the postman by a few days. Theoretically, Prithvi should not have known about the changes in the industry, so why was this guy not agreeing?

The next moment, Loka Yagni lifted her head with a sly smile. "But Miss, he did agree to sell one of the mining locations under his control for 800,000 Varaha. The other one he did not agree to. If I guess correctly, the one he said he was willing to sell should be the mining site that is almost mined out, and the other one still has a lot of minerals left."

"The price he asked was a quarter million Varaha greater than what I offered, but since we knew the actual value of the land, I negotiated with him for a price of 700,000 Varaha."

"The finance department has already made the payment, and here, ma'am," she handed over a document. "This is the mining permit we obtained."

Kirtana smiled happily. Although she didn't get anything she wanted, she still succeeded in tearing out a big chunk of flesh from Prithvi. "You did good," She praised.

A few days passed. Somewhere in the neighbouring town, Prithvi, who received the post a few days late, almost had a heart attack with anger.

"Damn, damn, damn!"

"Kirtana, you slut, damn it!"

Over the next few days, Kirtana visited a few of the top seven mining companies of the empire and saw the machine firsthand with her own eyes. Normally, the machine has a severe embargo on it, where no one is allowed to contact it, but since Kirtana is also in the same industry, the managers obliged her request.

Kirtana was amazed at how magical the machine was. She immediately realized that she wanted a similar machine for herself. She knew the price was a bit too much for her company to bear, but still, she realized that with this machine, Jyoti Minerals had a chance to rise to the position of at least the third-tier mining companies of the empire, right below the rising stars founded by various rajas.

"Loki, make me an appointment with Joseph Oppenheimer as soon as possible."

Loka Yagni was stunned. "Miss, are you going to list the company?"

Kirtana did not deny it. "Yes, I am. The funds I can mobilize are nothing compared to the rising mining companies. If I miss this opportunity to get at least one Devaraya steam engine, the mining company will forever be left behind. And I realize that with the invention of this new steam engine, the old model where I pick up the leaks from the big mining companies can no longer work."

"Investment by investment institutions, I don't like it since they get too much say in whatever decision I take. But listing it publicly and pricing the shares at a very low value should attract a lot of retail buyers. These guys have very little say in the company, and the money is also the most abundant."

"People will soon realize what is going on in the mining industry, and this is my opportunity. I should not miss this."

Loka Yagni nodded and admired the director. She was always unwilling to let people invest in the company, but now an opportunity has come, and she is so decisive. 'Really, the director is so amazing,' Loka Yagni muttered to herself in her heart.

Kirtana suddenly remembered something. "Oh, right. Enquire with the manager of Shetty and Co. Industrial Bank whether they are willing to underwrite our company going public and see if they can help us out in the matter of the stock exchange. Shetty and Co. Industrial Bank has a certain stake in Mangaluru Stock Exchange after all."

"Right away, director," Loka Yagni nodded her head.
