Reborn as shield hero with Garps Template

Chapter 129: Decision

Now that the task has been completed, Myne, a person, has lost her value.

Of course, the most important thing is that Jason felt that Myne was a little annoying.

Last time, he thought she had been killed by Raphtalia, so he didn't care.

Weicheng thought that she survived and came to cause trouble again, adding to his own burdens.

So Jason decided not to let Myne go this time, but to let her die in the forest outside Lute Village. Anyway, the selection task had been completed, so there was no need to worry about it.

"Master Shield Hero, we are ready to proceed!"

"That's right, we're ready to go anytime."

"Master Shield Hero, please give the order!"

"Leave this matter to us. Whether it is the Spear Hero or the First Princess, they are just a bunch of garbage, and you don't need to handle it yourself!"

At this moment, Jack and the others appeared behind Jason, all gearing up and eager to try.

Some flexed their muscles, posing one after another like a bodybuilding competition, while others waved their weapons in a show of "respect for ten different techniques."

Their purpose was very simple: to prove themselves to Jason, to show that they were capable and had no problem dealing with Motoyasu and others.

Especially Jack, who slid the tip of his tongue over his dagger, displaying a mix of ruthlessness and cruelty, along with a deliberately sinister expression. It actually seemed quite reliable—at least, that's what a villain should look like.

"I said... Wadsworth, just show off your muscles a few times. Jack, what's the meaning of that action? I remember your dagger is poisonous, right?"

Jason turned his head to look at them, his face full of frustration.

"It's okay, I've already taken the antidote in advance, Mr. Shield Hero. Do you think this action is very intimidating?"

Hearing Jason's question, Jack hurriedly lowered the dagger in his hand and said shyly.

"Uh... alright then."

Jason gestured, signaling Lilith to come over. Leaning close to her ear, he asked, "Lilith, when you scared Myne and Motoyasu last night, did Jack accidentally get his head stuck in a door? Or did he fall down the stairs and hit his head?"

Lilith frowned, thought about it seriously, and then shook her head: "No, I think Jack is just impulsive due to adolescence. It's normal for some teenagers to act this way, but I have no idea where he learned it from. He's been trying to imitate your laugh lately."

"Oh, I see."

Jason nodded and looked at Jack again. "In the future, avoid making that move. Be careful—you might end up poisoning yourself before you even face the enemy."

"Yes, I promise I won't do it again."

Jack responded immediately.

"Alright, I've understood everyone's intentions. Go ahead, remember: Myne and the two adventurers can be killed, but spare Motoyasu's life."

"Understood!"

With a wave of Jason's hand, Jack and the others quickly vanished from his sight, heading in the direction where Motoyasu and his group had fled.

There were two main reasons for sparing Motoyasu's life.

First: It had to do with the tax situation of Lute Village, which didn't really concern him; he was merely being manipulated by Myne.

Second: It simply wasn't worth it.

Killing Motoyasu would leave the group short of one of the Four Heroes, making future waves of disaster much harder to handle. In short, there was no benefit to killing him—only complications.

Therefore, it made sense to keep Motoyasu alive and let him continue to serve a purpose.

"Master Jason, what should we do now?"

After Jack and the others left, only Raphtalia and Filo remained by Jason's side.

"You two stay here and watch over the carriage. I have some concerns, so I'll head out there myself."

Although Jason was confident in Jack and the others' ability to handle Motoyasu and the rest, a sense of foreboding gnawed at him, so he set out for Lute Village without delay.

"What's going on with that Lute Village?"

"I can't figure it out at all. If the villagers are dead, what about the lady at the entrance of the village? If the villagers are not dead, then what happened last night? Someone explain this to me!"

After Motoyasu and his group had run a fair distance into the forest, they paused to discuss the events of Lute Village.

Clearly, with their limited understanding, they couldn't make sense of the situation, and nobody had any answers.

"Alright, enough. That place is just too creepy; let's avoid it in the future."

Myne kept rubbing her arms with her hands, shivering as she recalled the eerie events. Goosebumps crawled across her skin.

"Master Myne is right. I have no desire to return to such a haunted place."

"Yes, exactly."

The two female adventurers nodded in agreement.

"By the way... Master Motoyasu, what happened last night after we returned to the inn? You were missing for quite a while."

Myne recalled calling for him in the inn without getting any response from Motoyasu, so she asked out of curiosity.

Hearing her question, Motoyasu remembered the events of the previous night at the inn. His face reddened with embarrassment.

"At that time... I... I heard some noises coming from the second floor, so I went up to check. There, I saw a terrible monster had captured them. Yes... that's what happened. Then I became enraged and attacked the monster, but for some reason, I lost consciousness. When I woke up, I was lying beside you at the village entrance."

Motoyasu gestured toward the two female adventurers as he spoke. He didn't admit to being knocked out right away—it was far too humiliating.

"Master Motoyasu, you were so courageous!"

"You actually fought a monster to protect us. We're truly moved."

The two female adventurers hugged Motoyasu in excitement.

"After all, I am the Spear Hero. It's only natural to protect my followers, haha."

Motoyasu laughed heartily, looking like the picture of a triumphant hero.

"Master Motoyasu... do you notice something smells off?"

"It smells like urine... and it's coming from you..."

The two female adventurers pinched their noses, as if they had suddenly realized something. They took a few steps back and looked closely at Motoyasu.

Originally, his trousers and undershirt were the same color, but now, the color of his trousers was noticeably darker than the undershirt, indicating that Motoyasu had wet his pants.

They had been tightly hugging Motoyasu, who now clearly smelled like urine. At that moment, the two female adventurers felt profoundly disgusted.

Myne also recalled that when she woke up that morning, lying next to Motoyasu, she had noticed a foul smell clinging to her. Now, it made sense why she had felt that way.

Her emotions were a tangled mess, and her expression grew darker with every passing second.

She desperately wanted to strip off all her clothes, but there was no water nearby to wash up, and Motoyasu was standing right in front of her, making it an impossible task.

But if she didn't, it felt like bugs were crawling all over her skin, and the discomfort was unbearable.

"Myne, what's wrong with you? Please, let me explain. It's not what it looks like!"

Motoyasu approached Myne, trying to defend himself.

Overwhelmed and unsure of what to do, Myne, pushed to her limit, suddenly felt a wave of nausea rise from her stomach.

Then, she threw up, and since her stomach was empty, most of it was just stomach acid.

Unluckily, the vomit splattered directly onto Motoyasu, who had come too close.
