Chapter 760: Traces and Whispers ( 760 )
"Well… let us leave it to fate. Since Javier is already there,"
Francesca said softly, her smile serene as she glanced at her husband.
Garius inclined his head, smirk.
"Very well. It is not as though we planned it anyway."
"Yes~" Francesca's voice lilted lightly.
Her fan lifted gracefully, pointing subtly toward three particular figures.
"But I do wonder about those."
Across the banquet hall, Princess Mimi, Princess Delya, and Princess Felicia stood among their retinues. Their gazes lingered on the doors and windows, scanning the room again and again as though searching for someone.
Their expressions were unmistakable.
Anxious, eager, restrained by their status.
Their poise was flawless, yet beneath it burned the same anticipation, the same longing, that Francesca had already sensed.
She chuckled softly behind her fan.
"My, my… three princesses, each hoping to catch a glimpse of one boy. It seems our youngest has already caused quite a stir, hm?"
"Stir?" Garius's low chuckle followed, his eyes narrowing faintly as he watched the three girls.
"No, Francesca… this is far beyond a stir."
He sipped his wine slowly, his smirk hidden by the rim.
"They are no longer merely watching him from afar. They are waiting."
Francesca's fan brushed lightly against her lips as she leaned closer, her eyes glimmering with amusement.
"Fufufu~ then perhaps we should call it what it is… fate weaving its threads around him."
"Like father, like son, hm~? Building harems upon harems, promises here and there… and now look at my dear husband." She smirked, tilting her fan subtly toward the crowd, signaling that Mylezra was making her way in their direction.
Garius let out a long sigh, though a faint smile tugged at his lips. "At least I did not make promises to every princess I crossed paths with… unlike our youngest son."
"Yes~" Francesca replied sweetly, her tone laced with teasing silk. "But even so, Eridith is a dragon girl, Mylezra is the Elven Queen…" Her fan tapped gently against her palm as her voice softened. "And let us not forget Nyxara. My, my~ I wonder where she is. I have not seen her since the carriages arrived."
Her smile deepened, elegant and knowing.
"Still shy, perhaps? Or maybe preparing with her finest dress. After all… it has been so long since she last stood before us."
Garius exhaled softly.
"We both know Nyxara is not truly shy."
"Yes~ I know, dear…" Francesca's fan fluttered once, her eyes glinting with playful mischief.
"Perhaps she was only waiting for me to leave your side. But it seems Mylezra will be the one to arrive first." She stepped back gracefully, her smile never fading.
"Well then, dear… good luck~"
Her fan lowered in a delicate sweep as she glided away, leaving Garius to meet the Elven Queen's approach.
Meanwhile, in the main manor.
Liana and Gloria moved quietly through the halls.
Inside Liana's mind, her thoughts tightened.
Young master is not in his personal workshop…
She checked the door herself earlier.
He's not in his room either…
The bed was neatly made.
He's not in the main dining room…
Only maids preparing food for the banquet remained there.
And he is not in the grand hall…
Her eyes flicked toward Gloria, who walked at her side.
Where is he? Liana's lips pressed into a thin line. Her instincts stirred uneasily.
Gloria adjusted her glasses, glancing briefly at her companion.
"It seems he has gone to some lengths to hide himself, Liana."
"Yes…" Liana whispered, her tone strained.
"This time… even I cannot sense his mana."
"Maybe he is in trouble?" Liana whispered, her eyes scanning the corridor.
Gloria shook her head gently, her voice calm but firm. "No. I do not think young master is in any danger. We can both sense it, Buddy is here, within the estate."
Liana's tense shoulders eased slightly. "Yes… that means young master hasn't left. If Buddy is here, then he must still be somewhere inside."
Gloria adjusted her glasses, her expression thoughtful. "We both know how it is. Whenever young master tries to sneak out, Buddy always chases after him. That bird never allows him to vanish too far."
Liana exhaled softly, placing a hand against her chest. "…True. Still, I wonder where he could be hiding this time."
"Gloria, we should split up and search. You have our mana talkie, right?"
"Yes. I have it on my ear," Gloria replied calmly.
Liana pressed a finger to the small crystal resting in her own ear, channeling a thin stream of mana. "Can you hear me, Gloria?"
"Yes, Liana. Loud and clear."
"Good… let's find him."
Gloria's voice came again through the link.
"Did you try to contact young master with his mana talkie?"
Liana's brows furrowed, her lips pressing into a thin line.
"…No. Because our young master left his mana talkie inside his room."
There was a pause on the line before Gloria sighed softly.
"How troublesome."
Liana's face turned serious. "Someone will be scolded hard after this."
Gloria only chuckled softly through the link. "Just don't overdo it. We both know… it's rare for young master to act this way."
Liana crossed her arms as she walked, her voice firm.
"Rare or not, Gloria, he shouldn't leave his mana talkie behind. He told us himself, always keep it close so he can reach us if needed. Yet look at him now."
Gloria's tone softened.
"Perhaps he only wished for a moment of peace. Tonight is crowded, kings, queens, nobles… everyone under one roof. That is not the kind of place he enjoys."
"I know…"
Liana sighed, her steps quickening.
"But still, he could at least stay with us. Not vanish like this. If Lord Garius finds out we weren't attending him, or Lady Francesca learns we let him slip away… we'll both be in trouble."
Gloria's voice came firm through the mana talkie.
"Then let us find him quickly. We cannot allow him to slip away unnoticed for long."
While walking, Liana's lips curved into a small pout.
Mou! Young master… you better not be off somewhere dating another woman right now!
Her steps slowed as her thoughts drifted back to the grand hall.
Felicia, Mimi, and Delya are there. All three waiting, hoping to see him. And even Erisa was busy at Lady Francesca's side, serving as always.
Her brows softened slightly.
Even if some of the Armand maids cast their eyes on young master… none would dare make a move. They all know. They know he is always with me and Gloria. Always.
A small sigh left her. The only one bold enough is Erisa. But even she would never leave her position if Lady Francesca is present.
She quickened her pace again, determination flashing in her eyes.
Where did you go, young master?
