Reborn as a Useless Noble with my SSS-Class Innate Talent

Chapter 270: Ch 270: Village Burdens- Part 1

Racheal clenched her fists and took a deep breath, willing her racing heart to calm down.

The guilt that had weighed on her for days was now crashing down in full force under Kyle's unwavering gaze.

"I almost lost my way. But I've seen the truth now. I don't want to doubt anymore. I want to devote myself to you again, Kyle. To the village. To Rin. There's nothing that'll make me second-guess my choice ever again."

She said finally, her voice trembling slightly.

Her words felt like a confession and a promise wrapped in one.

Kyle looked at her.

Not with anger. Not even disappointment.

Just calm, steady scrutiny that made Racheal feel completely naked—like he could see through her very soul.

For a moment, she wondered if he knew. Not just that she had gone to the temple—but that she had returned more than once.

That the divine warmth still echoed in her veins, even now. That a tiny part of her still longed to go back.

But Kyle didn't confront her.

He simply nodded.

"Good. Then return to your brother for now. Silvy will handle the healing."

He said quietly.

Relief and unease warred inside her, but Racheal nodded quickly and left without another word.

Kyle watched her go, eyes narrowing.

The divine energy still clung to her—not strong enough to make her a beacon, but enough that he could smell the god's influence in her every breath. It wasn't just residual. It was recent.

She was still being affected.

Kyle sighed, pressing a hand to his forehead. He didn't blame Racheal.

Not entirely.

She had always been kind-hearted and easily swayed when her brother was involved. She didn't have the training or resistance to fight off divine influence like Silvy or Bruce did.

But someone had planted that influence in her—and Kyle doubted it had been an accident.

There was an intruder.

Someone among his people, spreading divine whispers where they didn't belong.

And judging by the subtle control over Racheal's emotions, this person was not a novice. They knew exactly what they were doing.

Kyle's jaw tightened.

He had been gone too long. And now, the gods were using the vulnerability of his absence to poison the minds of the people he'd vowed to protect.

He wouldn't let that continue.

"I'll have to lure them out. They're hiding. But not for long."

He muttered to himself.

He glanced back in the direction Racheal had gone.

She wasn't the enemy. But she was now a loose thread—one that the infiltrator might try to use again.

Kyle hated himself for even considering it.

But she would need to play a role in his plan.

He turned and followed after her, catching up to her just before she entered the healing hut where Silvy was preparing the treatment.

______

Racheal rushed to her brother's side the moment she entered the room. Rin lay on the bed, pale and still, his body thin and frail from the long days of suffering.

The burns along his arms and chest were worse than she remembered, raw and angry, and the look in his eyes—so full of pain, yet still trying to be strong—made something inside her ache.

"Rin…"

She whispered, kneeling beside him and taking his hand into hers.

His fingers were cold, and though he tried to smile at her, it was a shadow of what it once was. Racheal bit her lip and blinked back tears.

Silvy stood nearby, her expression unreadable as she prepared the space.

"Stay back a little, Racheal. I'll be using my magic and the artifact. It's best you don't interfere."

Racheal hesitated, still holding her brother's hand.

"Will it really work? I mean… this treasure—it's something valuable, right? Are you sure it should be used like this? Just to help Rin?"

Silvy paused, glancing at the small sapphire gem she now held between her fingers.

A soft, blue light pulsed from within it like a beating heart.

"You're right. It is something important. The elves would never forgive us if they knew. If it were up to me, I wouldn't use it like this."

Silvy said finally.

Racheal looked down, guilt sinking deeper into her chest.

"But…Kyle told me to use it for this. He said healing Rin was worth it. That's all that matters to me."

Silvy continued, her voice softer now.

Those words cut deeper than Racheal expected.

She looked away quickly, ashamed of herself.

Kyle had gone this far for her family—even gone against reason and risked war just to help Rin—and all she'd done was sneak off to the temple of a goddess who might be their enemy.

"I'm sorry."

She whispered, more to herself than to anyone else.

Silvy didn't respond. She placed the sapphire of healing at the center of Rin's chest and raised her hands.

Magic began to stir in the air, faint at first, then building into a swirl of warm, golden-blue light. Racheal stepped back, shielding her eyes from the brilliance.

The gem responded immediately, glowing brighter and brighter. It released a gentle pulse of divine energy, harmonizing with Silvy's own mana.

The air grew warm, comforting, like sunlight through leaves.

Rin's breathing steadied. The burns began to fade, the twisted skin smoothing out, the color returning to his cheeks. Slowly, miraculously, he opened his eyes fully and sat up.

"Racheal?"

He murmured, his voice stronger than it had been in weeks.

"Rin!"

Racheal cried, rushing forward, arms wrapping tightly around him. Tears rolled down her face now—tears of relief, of disbelief.

He returned the embrace, weakly at first, then with more strength.

"I feel… better."

Silvy lowered her hands with a tired breath, sweat beading on her forehead. Her posture sagged slightly, but there was a small smile tugging at her lips.

Racheal turned to her, eyes wide with gratitude.

"Thank you, Silvy. Thank you so much. I don't know what to say—"

"Save it. If you want to thank someone, thank Kyle when you see him next. I'm just doing what he asked."

Silvy said, already wiping her forehead with a cloth.

Racheal nodded, biting her lip again. She watched Silvy cradle the now-dim gem in her hand and tuck it carefully away, reverently, like it was still sacred even after being used.

Her heart felt heavier now than ever.

Kyle had gone to such extremes for her. For her brother. And she—she'd almost betrayed him in her doubt and weakness.

She turned back to Rin, who now sat upright on the edge of the bed, testing his legs carefully. He was walking again. Alive again.

All because of Kyle.

Racheal took a deep breath.

She would repay this. Somehow.

She would follow Kyle, not because she owed him, but because she believed in him. And she would never again let herself be swayed by golden words or divine promises.

Not when the man in front of her was doing so much to protect them all—even from the gods themselves.

"I'll thank him. And I won't let him down again."

She said softly.

Silvy didn't say anything, but her tired nod said she approved.

And as the last traces of the spell faded, the room was left with a quiet peace, and a healed boy whose second chance had just begun.
