Reborn as a Transcendent

At this very moment… Vera 1, 2, 3, and the twelve Transcendents had successfully arrived at their designated hotel. Inside a luxurious suite, they all gathered around a sprawling white sofa, each wearing different expressions.

“We got in far too easily. Cathay’s security is downright pathetic,” Kareihira sneered as he ran a hand through his dry, straw-like hair.

“You can’t say that. With [E-Fairy] assisting us, things were bound to be much easier,” [Lightning Wolf] David countered.

“That’s right. Don’t underestimate Cathay, or you’ll regret it,” [Tragic Wind] Pete added, his perpetually somber face accentuating his warning. Pete seemed to embody the very essence of gloom.

Hearing the responses from the S-Ranks, Kareihira held his tongue. Though he still felt disdainful, he chose to keep his thoughts to himself.

The rest of the group stayed quiet, avoiding the discussion.

“I’ll gather more information in the morning before finalizing our combat plan. For now, I’m sure everyone is tired from the journey, so rest in your assigned rooms. We’ll reconvene tonight. And let me be clear—none of you are to go out right now. It’s a sensitive time. If you’re unfortunate enough to run into Ronald, you won’t make it back alive,” Vera 1 said lazily, her tone carrying a warning.

It was clear her warning wasn’t directed at the two S-Ranks.

The ten AA-ranked Transcendents nodded in unison, acknowledging her authority. Despite being mere Vera [Doppelgängers], the trio held a status far above the others. In terms of strength, Vera 1, 2, and 3 were second only to the two S-Ranks. If the three combined their powers, even an average S-Rank would find them formidable.

Before long, the group dispersed, moving quickly and quietly.

Vera 1, 2, and 3 rose from their seats and retreated to their private suite.

“Number One, do you think Number Seventeen, the one controlled by Ronald, has detected our arrival yet?” Vera 2 asked suddenly, lying casually on the bed in her Gothic attire and heavy makeup.

“No. Number Seventeen is weaker than me. Even if she’s monitoring immigration non-stop, she wouldn’t be able to track me,” Vera 1 replied indifferently. As the first clone, Vera 1’s development was unmatched by any of the others. Her hacking skills were nearly on par with the original host.

“Let’s take a break. We can gather intel later,” Vera 3 said as she shrugged off her leather jacket, revealing delicate undergarments and smooth, pale skin.

“Agreed. Let’s rest,” Vera 1 said, lying on the far-left bed. She pulled a blanket over herself and closed her eyes without hesitation.

“Number Two, aren’t you taking off your makeup?” Vera 3 asked, glancing at Vera 2, who was sprawled in the middle of the bed.

“No, I’m just resting my eyes. I’m not actually sleeping,” Vera 2 replied, pulling a blanket over herself and promptly closing her eyes.

Moments later, soft breathing escaped her lips—she was clearly fast asleep. Vera 3 shook her head with a sigh before lying down and following suit. None of them bothered turning off the lights before drifting into a deep sleep.

Unbeknownst to them, every action they took was being meticulously observed by a pair of unseen eyes.

In the [City of Chaos].

“Master, they won’t act until tonight,” Little Blue said with a confident smile, crossing her arms.

“At night? That gives us plenty of time,” Yaeger replied. “Keep up the surveillance and notify me immediately if they make any significant moves.” After a brief pause, Yaeger added, “By the way, have you identified those twelve individuals yet?”

In response, Little Blue tapped the air, summoning a virtual screen. A stream of virtual data materialized before Yaeger.

“Ten AA-ranked, and… whoa! Two S-ranked? Vera really went all out this time. Wait, that doesn’t make sense—Vera doesn’t know my true strength. Why would she send two S-ranked Transcendents here?” Yaeger mused aloud, her tone tinged with confusion.

Logically, sending just one S-ranked would have been overkill, let alone two.

“I don’t think those two S-ranked are here for you, Master,” Little Blue remarked.

“Oh? And why do you think that?” Yaeger asked, intrigued.

“Because during their earlier conversations, I heard them mention someone named Ronald.”

The mention of Ronald immediately clicked with Yaeger. “Hehe, so they’re targeting Old Man Tian. Excellent, excellent—very good!” Yaeger said with a sly grin.

Yaeger’s sharp mind quickly deduced that Ronald had been dragged into this mess because of her.

“Well, Old Man Tian, you’d better make for a good scapegoat this time,” she muttered.

In truth, Yaeger bore no real grudge against Ronald. However, she still hadn’t forgiven him for the punch he’d landed on her, which left her feeling slightly resentful.

“Master, shouldn’t you warn him?” Little Blue asked hesitantly. Only recently had Little Blue pieced together Yaeger’s social connections. Naturally, she now understood that Ronald was Mylene’s grandfather.

And Mylene, of course, was her master’s adopted sister.

“No need. Mylene is with Old Man Tian. There’s nothing to worry about,” Yaeger said confidently.

Mylene’s strength was formidable, even among Grandmasters. Against two ordinary S-ranked opponents, she would be unstoppable.

Meanwhile, Vera 17 and Vera 18 shared a mix of emotions. Though they didn’t hold much affection for Vera 1, 2, and 3, they couldn’t deny that all of them had originated from the same body.

At this point, they felt like spectators watching clowns prepare for a circus act. It left them feeling oddly sympathetic. However, the prospect of gaining three new colleagues to share their workload made them exchange smiles, and their complicated feelings quickly evaporated.

After giving her instructions, Yaeger returned to her room, lay on the bed, and logged into the game. In a flash of white light, Yaeger’s elegant figure materialized just outside Jade City.

Almost simultaneously, two more figures appeared. The newcomers were Yunuen and Little Fairy.

“Princess!” they exclaimed joyfully as soon as they spotted Yaeger.

“Good morning, everyone,” Yaeger greeted them with a warm smile.

“Mm-hmm! We’re aiming to hit Level 30 as quickly as we can!” Yunuen said with an eager nod.

“That’s right! We don’t want to hold you back, Princess,” Little Fairy said, clenching her fists with determination.

For the next two days, she planned to stay home and play games under the pretense of being sick, giving herself plenty of time to focus. It wasn’t that Little Fairy was trying to procrastinate or avoid work, but her current appearance would undoubtedly cause chaos if she showed up at her flower shop.

‘Being too beautiful can be such a hassle sometimes. I think I’m beginning to understand how Princess feels,’ Little Fairy mused, her gaze drifting toward the radiant and dazzling Yaeger.

“True. It’s always better to hit Level 30 sooner,” Yaeger remarked nonchalantly.

In the game, reaching Level 30 marked the true starting point. Reaching Level 30 unlocked access to a wealth of new opportunities and knowledge. One such opportunity was the ability to develop their own unique skills.

However, mastering those abilities would require extensive time and effort to research and refine.

Thanks to her experiences from a previous life and the Basic Skills she had acquired from Kahn, Yaeger had already made significant progress in her swordsmanship. In time, she was bound to unlock even more exclusive sword techniques.

“I stocked up on medicine last night. You two can take some,” Yaeger said. She was always generous with her allies, handing over large stacks of High-grade potions without a second thought.

In truth, she had such an abundance of potions that her backpack was nearly overflowing. Most of them had to be stored in her spatial ring. Moreover, Yaeger wasn’t particularly reliant on potions. Hoarding them in her backpack would have been a waste of space when Yunuen and Little Fairy could put them to better use.

After handing out the potions, a thought suddenly occurred to Yaeger.

“Before you start leveling up, I need you to do me a quick favor,” she said.
