Chapter 365: The Three In-Laws Brawl
Li Aihua really couldn't bother arguing with people like Zhou Yunmei anymore. She shouted irritably, "How many times do I have to explain? I said Ruirui wet his pants, so I went inside to get him a change of clothes. I was gone for less than half a minute, and you, standing outside the window, claim I didn't pay any attention to Ruirui. Are you deliberately picking a fight?"
Seeing the two of them making such a scene, causing several children inside and outside the house to cry non-stop, particularly Ruirui, who was in Zhou Yunmei's arms and cried hysterically from her loud voice, his face turning red and his neck bulging, Fang Pingying was heartbroken.
She rushed over and snatched Ruirui from Zhou Yunmei's arms, comforting him in a soft voice.
Zhou Yunmei's anger seemed to intensify upon Fang Pingying's return. Unable to control herself, she stepped forward and slapped Fang Pingying on the back, cursing fiercely, "Where have you been? You don't even take care of your son, what kind of mother are you?"
Even though Zhou Yunmei didn't hit Fang Pingying hard, such physical aggression was simply unacceptable.
Fang Pingying immediately narrowed her eyes at Zhou Yunmei, and had it not been for holding Ruirui at the moment, she would have totally forgotten all courtesies of the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship and fought back.
But before Fang Pingying could react, Li Aihua had already stepped in from the sofa and slapped Zhou Yunmei on the shoulder.
At the same time, Li Yuchun, who was standing at the door, also rushed over, landing a punch on Zhou Yunmei.
After hitting Zhou Yunmei, Li Yuchun pushed Fang Pingying towards the inside of the house, "Pingying, take the child inside first. We'll deal with your damn mother-in-law. You shouldn't get involved; otherwise, this old witch will surely go back to the village and spread rumors that she was beaten by her daughter-in-law, and you'll end up being the target of gossip."
Zhou Yunmei was stunned by the simultaneous attacks, and when she saw Li Yuchun, she paused for a moment before asking, "Li Yuchun, when did you get here?"
Li Yuchun rolled her eyes at her, "If you can be here, why can't I? Is this provincial city owned by Zhou Yunmei alone?"
"You…" Zhou Yunmei finally regained her wits and, remembering how Li Yuchun had hit her, attempted to fight her to the death, "You dare to hit me? I'm going to fight you right now."
Li Yuchun had long wanted to confront Zhou Yunmei and shouted, "Bring it on! You think I'm afraid of you?"
Zhou Yunmei and Li Yuchun then began to physically fight there in the living room. Honestly speaking, in terms of fighting ability, Li Yuchun was no match for Zhou Yunmei.
But since Li Yuchun was standing up for Fang Pingying, Li Aihua, her biological mother, would definitely not just stand there watching. Moreover, she had long wanted to teach Zhou Yunmei a lesson, so she pretended to separate them while purposefully grabbing Zhou Yunmei's arms, allowing Li Yuchun to beat her fiercely.
After a brief scuffle, the outcome was clear; Zhou Yunmei, no matter how tough, couldn't win against the two of them.
Her face was covered with scratch marks from Li Yuchun's nails, and her hair was pulled out in several places.
With Zhou Yunmei's temperament, she naturally wouldn't let it go so easily. If she couldn't win, she'd play dirty.
Immediately, she sat down on her butt in the hall, crying loudly, and even started to make a scene as if she would smash the things in Li Aihua's house.
"But Hong Lan was intimidated by Ai Hua's threat, 'Zhou Yunmei, if you dare smash our stuff today, I will immediately report it to the police and have you arrested. Believe it or not.'"
"Just because you can file a police report, I can't? Look at the state you've beaten me into; I'd like to see whose side the police will take." Zhou Yunmei was tough-talking but ultimately, she didn't dare to smash anything. She really was afraid the police would indeed take her away.
"Am I the only one injured? I'm hurt too." Li Yuchun said, pretending to clutch her chest weakly, she cried out, "Ow, Pingying's mother, my chest is terribly tight and my stomach hurts. I don't know if she's caused me internal injuries. Let her call the police; we will go to the hospital for an examination later, and at most, we will just compensate each other for some medical expenses."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Yunmei was stunned, "What do you mean?"
Li Yuchun signaled to Ai Hua with a look, asking her to explain.
Catching the cue, Ai Hua said immediately, "It means nothing special, just that Sister-in-law Fang injured you, but you also caused her internal injuries. If it comes to that, you both might as well be taken to the Police Station. At most, you'll compensate each other."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Yunmei's mind began to whirl.
It meant they had to compensate each other; in other words, she would have to pay out as well. If Li Yuchun really had internal injuries, wouldn't she end up paying even more? This was not profitable for her.
So, she stopped talking about calling the police and continued to wail in the living room, "Oh heavens, why is my fate so bitter? I just came to see my eldest grandson today in good faith, but I was bullied by these damned women, leaving me like this. I can't stand this life anymore, I can't take it."
Ai Hua listened to Zhou Yunmei's repetitive shouting and was extremely irritated. She wouldn't leave when asked and insisted on sticking around,
In frustration, Ai Hua and Yuchun teamed up and carried Zhou Yunmei, who was sitting on the ground, out of the yard.
But Zhou Yunmei still refused to give up. She shouted and made a scene outside the yard, drawing a crowd of onlookers, proclaiming she had been beaten.
Since this was a military family complex, Ai Hua couldn't allow her to keep causing such a disturbance, so Pingying had no choice but to call Luo Honglan and Zhiyong to come quickly, saying Yun Mei was going berserk here.
Luo Honglan wasn't far from here, just a few bus stops away. She arrived quickly, but she didn't come alone; she also brought Luo Cuilan with her.
Luo Cuilan was the sort who loved stirring trouble. As soon as she arrived and saw the nail marks on Yun Mei's face, she became infuriated. Without thinking twice, she banged on the iron gate of the yard, making a loud 'bang bang' noise, "Pingying! Come out here, you pack of people bullying my mom, what skill is that? If you're capable, come out now, face us mother and daughters."
Seeing that she not only didn't calm Yun Mei down but even added fuel to the fire, Luo Honglan called out to her softly, "Big sister, would you please quiet down a bit? I'm here to convince mom to go back home, what are you adding to the chaos for?"
Luo Honglan hadn't finished speaking when Cuilan gave her a push, "You ungrateful girl, always siding with others. Are we just supposed to let mom get beaten for nothing? We need to get some justice here."
Zhou Yunmei also looked at her disapprovingly, "Exactly, I don't know if she's really a member of the Luo Family or of the Fang Family, always speaking up for others."
Caught between the two, Luo Honglan had no choice but to walk a bit forward to see if Zhiyong had arrived, as it seemed only he could stabilize the situation.
Meanwhile, Cuilan and Yun Mei cursed loudly in front of the iron gate, hurling every insult imaginable, making it unbearable for Pingying to listen to any longer. She wanted to go outside and argue with them, but Yuchun and Ai Hua held her back. (To be continued.
