Reborn as a Tough Army Wife

Chapter 361: Family Harmony

Several people chatted in the hospital room when Doctor Zhou came to check on Fang Xiu, announcing that she could be discharged. Fang Pingying then helped them with the discharge procedures.

Fang Ping'an was indeed better at social interactions than Zhou Yunmei. On the way to Li Aihua's house, despite Fang Pingying's objections, he stubbornly bought quite a few things to bring to Li Aihua's house.

When visiting someone's home, bringing gifts, good or bad, is basic courtesy.

At Li Aihua's home, Zhao Longsheng had also returned. Hearing that Fang Pingying's foster parents were visiting, Zhao Longsheng was very welcoming.

When Fang Pingying and her group arrived, Li Aihua and Zhao Longsheng both came out to the yard to greet them. Upon seeing Fang Ping'an and his companions, Li Aihua repeatedly expressed her thanks, "Pingying's parents, over these years, my family Pingying has really relied on you. I am truly grateful beyond words."

Fang Ping'an and Li Yuchun had not expected Fang Pingying's biological mother's home would be so splendid; they were both stunned by the nice house and hesitated at the door, fearing that as country folks they would accidentally break something.

Seeing this, Li Aihua immediately smiled and took Li Yuchun by the hand, pulling her inside.

Fang Pingying also gently pushed Fang Ping'an inside, smiling and saying, "Mom and dad, just make yourselves at home, no need to be formal."

Li Aihua lead Li Yuchun to sit on the sofa, then came over to greet Fang Ping'an, smiling and saying, "Yes, Pingying's parents, you've raised Pingying with so much effort. From now on, we are one family, and we should visit each other often. Please, don't be so formal."

"This…" Fang Ping'an said awkwardly as he was led to sit on the sofa, "Actually, we haven't done much. Pingying is a good child. Over the years, it's actually our home that has been indebted to her; we always feel like we owe her."

"Brother Fang, no matter what you say, it's you who raised Pingying, our benefactor. From now on, we are one family." These words were said by Zhao Longsheng.

Zhao Longsheng, who was a leader in the military, spoke with an authoritative tone that naturally commanded respect, which made Fang Ping'an and his family feel economically pressured, so they didn't argue with him.

Li Aihua watched Zhao Longsheng with a smile, then asked him to sit on the other side of the sofa. She sat next to Li Yuchun and said to both Li Yuchun and Fang Ping'an, "That's right, that's right. Brother Fang, since you are here this time, you should enjoy yourselves for a few days in the provincial city. Especially since Fang Xiu has just given birth, she should not be overexerted."

"We shouldn't trouble you further, we plan to return tomorrow. We'll come again when there's another opportunity." Fang Ping'an felt it was too much already and hurriedly declined, "And this time, with what happened to Fang Xiu, we really troubled you a lot. We feel very guilty about it."

Li Aihua smiled at him and then said gratefully, "Brother Fang, let's not speak such polite words between our two families. You took care of Pingying for so many years. Without you, Pingying wouldn't have grown up. Anything we do is only right."

Fang Ping'an waved his hand and quickly said, "Don't say that, Pingying is also our child."

"Yes, no matter what, she is forever your child," Li Aihua said smilingly to them both, "Now that you are here, you must stay for a few days. I will take you around the provincial city, since you haven't been here often before."

"Yes, this is my first time here; her mother has been here before," Fang Ping'an, seeing Li Aihua's insistence, no longer objected and then looked around and asked Fang Pingying, "Speaking of which, Pingying, we've been here for a while now and haven't yet seen our two grandsons. Can you bring them over to us quietly?"

Fang Pingying nodded, and together with Sister-in-law Zhou, they entered the house and carried the children out.

Now that the children were out of their confinement, their skin had smoothed out a lot, their appearances had developed more, and they looked very beautiful.

As soon as Fang Ping'an and Li Yuchun saw the children, they were delighted, immediately reaching out to hold them, and unlike Zhou Yunmei, they weren't solely focused on her eldest grandson.

Li Aihua was a shrewd person. She noticed that Fang Ping'an and Li Yuchun weren't particularly virtuous people, but in her eyes, they were much more reliable than Zhou Yunmei.

At least they knew gratitude and reciprocation, and they took care of necessary matters. Moreover, Li Aihua, remembering the kindness of their upbringing of Fang Pingying, genuinely intended for them to stay at her home.

Thinking about how Fang Xiu had just given birth and considering Fang Ping'an and Li Yuchun rarely visited the provincial city, Fang Pingying encouraged them to stay for a few days while taking them out for a tour, "Dad, Mom, why don't you stay for a few days? Just take it as a visit to see Ruirui and Yaoyao."

"Alright, we'll stay for a few days and spend some time with our grandsons," Li Yuchun agreed and then said to Li Aihua with a smile, "Younger sister, you don't know, in our rural area, not many people have twins. Now that the villagers know that Pingying has twins, they find it quite extraordinary."

Li Aihua laughed, patting Li Yuchun's hand, "Yes, it's indeed good fortune for you two old folks. Not everyone is that fortunate."

"You, too," they laughed together.

While Fang Ping'an and Li Yuchun were here, they often had smiles on their faces, knowing well how to speak appropriately, making the whole family cheerful.

After dinner in the evening, Li Aihua arranged for Fang Ping'an and Li Yuchun to go to the guest room, while Fang Xiu and Fang Pingying each took a child to sleep with.

Having been sisters for so many years, Fang Pingying and Fang Xiu had never really shared a bed before. Back at their parent's house, although they lived in the same room, their relationship wasn't great, and they would start arguing after only a few words.

This time, however, they were exceptionally affectionate.

Fang Xiu's son fell asleep, and she, holding Yaoyao in her arms, laughed and said, "Big sister, look at your daughter, she really is beautiful. When she grows up, you might have some worries."

Fang Pingying chuckled, nudging her own son Ruirui and said teasingly, "Girls are obedient. It's the boys who cause worry, being so mischievous."

"That's true, not just mischievous, there's a lot to manage as they grow up," said Fang Xiu, then after thinking for a moment, she suddenly sat up and earnestly shared with Fang Pingying, "Hey, big sister, I've decided I really need to work hard to provide a better life for my son, let him study more so he won't be like me—barely educated and easily deceived."

"As long as you know to reflect on yourself," Fang Pingying looked at her and encouraged, "You're still young. As long as you're willing to work hard, life won't be tough."

Fang Xiu thought for a moment, then suddenly said, "Sister, I've been thinking, maybe I won't go back this time. I'm considering renting a cheaper place in the provincial city and let mom help me take care of the children while I work."

Fang Pingying thought that traveling with a month-old child would be troublesome and felt Fang Xiu's idea was viable, so she suggested, "Discuss it with our parents and see what they think. If they agree, that can work too." (To be continued. If you like this work, your votes at Qidian (qidian.com) for recommendation and monthly tickets are welcome.
