Chapter 302: Why Forgive
Fang Pingying watched Zeng Weiguo's departing figure, frowned in thought, then smiled and asked juzi, "What's going on, juzi? Uncle Zeng won't be thinking about subsidizing us for the rent, will he?"
juzi hadn't thought that much about it, "What do you mean?"
Fang Pingying recalled what Zeng Weiguo had just said, and puzzledly mentioned, "Such a big yard, Uncle Zeng spoke as if he could definitely rent it for under US$100."
juzi remembered, and also felt Zeng Weiguo was a bit odd, he had never mentioned how much the yard actually cost, he said he would talk to the landlord, but he had already instructed them to do other things, as if the house deal was already settled.
Moreover, he had just left and had already handed over the keys to them, and no one else came to show them the house.
She thought to herself that perhaps Zeng Weiguo thought the house was nice and wanted to rent it for her no matter the cost.
She had been spoiled by Zeng Weiguo since she was young and was used to it; she said with a smile, "Never mind him, let him subsidize if he wants to, anyway, when I used to work, he also supplemented me with quite an amount each month, and he is not short of money."
Fang Pingying smiled and playfully slapped juzi, "You can't say that. This shop is being opened by the both of us, if Uncle Zeng subsidizes you, I would feel a bit embarrassed."
juzi shook her head and quickly replied, "Hey, no worries, my uncle and your mom get along really well."
After speaking, juzi suddenly realized she had said something wrong, she immediately covered her mouth, then looked at Fang Pingying awkwardly and cautiously said, "Sister-in-law, I called Aunt Ai Hua your mom, are you upset?"
Fang Pingying wasn't used to people saying Aunt Li was her mom. The smile on her face paused, but then she shook her head after recovering, "It's fine. I might not accept her, but some relationships can't be changed. By blood, she truly is my mom."
Talking about Fang Pingying and Li Aihua, juzi suddenly sized Fang Pingying up a bit, then said, "You know, it's strange. I've seen Aunt Li a few times before, and I never thought you two looked alike, but now it seems the more I look, the more similar you are. If you two walked together, people might not believe you aren't mother and daughter."
"I think it's still okay, not as exaggerated as you're saying," Fang Pingying felt she only resembled Li Aihua by maybe four or five points.
juzi continued to encourage Fang Pingying to look for a little while, and affirmed with a nod, "It's true, it's because Aunt Ai Hua has gotten older now, her features aren't as nice as before. My mom showed me a photo of Aunt Ai Hua from her younger days, and you look so similar to her now, as if cast from the same mold."
That comment made Fang Pingying remember the first time she visited juzi's home, "So, the first time I went to your house with Hong Lan, Aunt Zeng kept staring at me, was this the reason?"
"That must be it." juzi nodded, then, she sighed, fingered Fang Pingying's arm, and advised, "Sister-in-law, my advice is, just forgive Aunt Ai Hua, having an extra mother is good."
"Why should I forgive her?" Fang Pingying asked lightly with a smile, looking at juzi, "Has she ever fulfilled her motherly duties throughout these years?"
juzi heard this, held onto Fang Pingying, and began to share some past stories, "Actually, I've heard some things from my mom before, Aunt Ai Hua initially did leave you behind for her own future, but she didn't abandon you completely, she left you with your biological father temporarily, it was your biological father who truly abandoned you."
"Aunt Ai Hua used to send money to your biological father while she was abroad, and later, when she couldn't contact him anymore, she had no choice. As soon as she returned to the provincial city, she went to find your biological father, and upon knowing he had abandoned you, I heard Aunt Ai Hua almost got into a fight with him."
Fang Pingying paused, as she hadn't intentionally sought out how she was abandoned initially, and she genuinely didn't know this part.
Hearing this from juzi caught her by surprise.
But it was undeniable that, initially, Li Aihua still left her behind, and not for any compelling reason, but for her studies and future, which implied that, to her at that time, her daughter wasn't important.
Knowing this, Fang Pingying inevitably felt angry, she smiled faintly, "So what, it's all already done, killing him won't help."
"Aunt Ai Hua is a university professor, I see her every time, always so gentle and charming, I can't imagine her fighting with someone." juzi still kept persuading her, "From what I see, it wasn't that she abandoned you uncaringly, she just thought she could entrust you with your biological father, but unexpectedly…"
"Forget it, whether it's my biological mother or biological father, it doesn't matter to me now," Fang Pingying said indifferently, "And as you said, they are not together now, they have their own families. Even if I recognized them, what am I supposed to do, go and be a burden at this age?"
"I don't know about your biological father, it seems Aunt Ai Hua hasn't had much contact with him, but I do know about Aunt Ai Hua's side." juzi began telling Fang Pingying about the current situation in Li Aihua's family,
"Aunt Ai Hua's current partner, Zhao Longsheng, is in the same military region as my dad, and it seems his position is even higher than my dad's. He transferred here a few years ago from City B, but he's considered a kind and open-minded person. After marrying Aunt Ai Hua, they did not have children, but he said Aunt Ai Hua's daughter is his daughter too. He has known about this for a long time and has always wanted to acknowledge you. He even asked about you several times when he met me before."
"Ah, let's talk about it later," Fang Pingying felt even more surprised that a stepfather she had never met was so considerate, but she felt things were too complex, didn't want to think more about it, and didn't want to continue discussing, so she said to juzi, "Let's focus on getting our shop set up first."
juzi nodded and fell silent.
In a blink, it was March in the lunar calendar, Fang Pingying and juzi's clothing store had already been renovated, and their first batch of clothes had also been sewed.
On the opening day, Fang Pingying woke up in the early twilight, her mind occupied with thoughts of the shop opening, and she could not sleep soundly.
Since Fang Pingying's pregnancy was showing more each day, Luo Zhiyong was worried about her staying alone at home, so as long as the army wasn't too busy, he would come over at night.
Coincidentally, the shop's opening day was on a weekend, and Luo Zhiyong was also there. Sensing that Fang Pingying had awakened, Luo Zhiyong stretched out his arm to embrace her and drowsily asked, "What do you want to eat in the morning? I'll make it."
Fang Pingying felt sorry that he was running around every day which was also tough, touched his face, and said softly, "You sleep a bit more, I'll handle it, make a few pancakes, eat, and then we'll go to the shop."
Luo Zhiyong chuckled softly, turned over and got up, "Let's get up together. You prepare other things, and I'll make breakfast."
"That works too." (To be continued. If you like this work and you're reading on your mobile, please visit m.qidian.com to vote for recommendation and monthly ticket. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
