Chapter 293: Opening a Shop Together
Fang Pingying and a few others went out to buy groceries and when they returned, Luo Zhiyong was already back, and Jue'er and Huang Lin had come with him.
Jue'er's temperament was still the same, very cheerful, unaffected by her miscarriage last time.
The moment she saw Fang Pingying, she walked up with a smile, wrapped her arm around Fang Pingying's, and playfully complained, "Sister-in-law, why did you only come now? I've been to your shop several times these past few days and never caught you there."
Fang Pingying took a good look at her, noticed her rosy complexion and that she hadn't lost weight, which meant her recovery was going well, so she smiled and asked, "Where did you spend the New Year?"
"At my mom's place," Jue'er said, "But we did go back to Huang Lin's hometown on the second day of the New Year, and returned on the fourth day."
As they opened the door to the shop, Fang Pingying asked Luo Zhiyong to tidy up some items on the high shelves, and Huang Lin along with Yu'er also went to help. Fang Pingying then took Jue'er to the back to chat.
She glanced at Jue'er's belly and asked quietly, "How was it going back to your hometown? Did your mother-in-law ask anything?"
Jue'er giggled, "She asked, but Huang Lin lied to her, said that we were expecting a girl in the womb, and after some consideration, we decided not to keep it."
"That's not very good," Fang Pingying frowned slightly, thinking that if the next child turned out to be a girl as well, it would create a difficult situation.
Jue'er smirked with a mischievous look, as if she was taking it one step at a time, "I know, but with his mom's temper, if she knew the baby was lost because of someone else's meddling, who knows if she would make a scene here, then no one would have had a good New Year."
Huang Lin's mother indeed had that kind of temperament, and since the lie was out there, saying more would be pointless. Fang Pingying comforted with, "It's not wrong, it's all in the past. You guys are still young, there will be more opportunities in the future."
"It's not much of a concern for me, it's just that silly Huang Lin." Jue'er's eyes became moist when she mentioned Huang Lin, showing a touch of compassion, "You don't know, after we lost the baby, he secretly cried many times."
Seeing Jue'er like this, Fang Pingying felt uneasy too, she patted Jue'er's hand and said, "Jue'er, we really owe you an apology for this."
"What are you talking about? If there's anyone to blame, it's that wretched Bai Jing, she's too malevolent." Jue'er curled her lips, then somewhat schadenfreude-like shared with Fang Pingying, "But she's not having a good time now, either."
Fang Pingying looked at her and asked, "What happened?"
"I went back to the big yard a few days ago, and I heard that Zhou Guangsheng is making a fuss about divorcing her," Jue'er said with a laugh, "I'm not sure if they've divorced yet."
Fang Pingying nodded and didn't continue to discuss Bai Jing.
In her view, it was normal for Zhou Guangsheng to consider divorce, given Bai Jing's nasty scheming and harboring intentions for another man.
Not many men could tolerate a wife whose heart lay elsewhere, especially one who could do such things for another man.
Since the shop was not opened that day, and everything inside had already been tidied up, Fang Pingying let Luo Zhiyong and Huang Lin clean up the shelves, and the group headed back to Fang Pingying's home.
With Luo Honglan and Yu'er both around, and both being efficient and skilled in cooking, particularly Luo Honglan who had learned quite a few dishes from Fang Pingying, Fang Pingying didn't have to lift a finger for the meal.
However, as Jue'er had a craving for Fang Pingying's homemade potato pancakes, Fang Pingying specially went into the kitchen to make her a few.
A group of people had a lively dinner, after which juzi and Fang Pingying went inside to do the accounting.
They went into business selling hand warmers before the new year, and since Fang Pingying wasn't around during the New Year holidays, juzi had been looking after the accounts.
juzi herself was not very fond of bothersome tasks, and after days of poring over these accounts until her head swam, it was Huang Lin who did most of the calculations for her.
However, Huang Lin was not very meticulous, and juzi, not fully at ease, brought the accounts to Fang Pingying for a recheck.
It was just about ten days' worth of accounts, so it wasn't too difficult to tally. Fang Pingying managed to sort it all out in less than half an hour.
In those ten days, they made over a thousand yuan. After subtracting the fees for putting their goods on Uncle Zeng's shelves, juzi herself still got several hundred yuan.
Previously, each of them had taken home over a thousand yuan. All in all, the hand warmers business had brought them quite a decent profit. N&o-t#e*:- Che-ck% M#_V*LEMP%Y%_%R for any c+orr%[email protected]@s.
And since it was still cold, they reckoned they could continue selling for another month or so. Plus, with the Lunar New Year not yet over and people being more willing to spend during this period, it wouldn't be difficult for each person to earn another thousand dollars or so.
After dividing the money, juzi thought for a moment and then discussed with Fang Pingying with a smile, "Sister-in-law, do you have any other good ideas? How about if we partner to open a store? You just need to provide the capital and the ideas, and I'll take care of running it. My uncle can handle everything about finding a location for the shop, and he can help out if there's any trouble. When it comes to profits, we'll split them fifty-fifty."
Fang Pingying was always open to ways of earning money.
Moreover, juzi said she would manage the store and she would only need to invest. Fang Pingying immediately agreed with a smile, "Sure, since I'm just providing the capital, you'll take care of the management."
juzi giggled and pulled Fang Pingying's arm, "No problem, I'm not planning to find a job anyway, I can manage a store."
On hearing this, Fang Pingying was somewhat surprised, "You're not working anymore?"
"Don't feel like it anymore. That job was originally bought by my uncle with favors. I bet my uncle spends more on gifts for his superiors every month than I earn in salary. Besides, the office politics there are too complicated." juzi now had high hopes for opening her store, "If I run my own store and business is good, I could make a year's salary in just a month."
"You little rascal," knew juzi's family was well-off and didn't depend on her making money, so she simply reminded her with a smile, "If you really want to open a store, don't think about just having fun, be serious about it."
"I will definitely work hard. I don't even have a job now, I rely on this to eat," juzi immediately assured Fang Pingying, "I even plan to buy a house in the provincial city with Huang Lin like you did after earning some money."
Fang Pingying nodded, "That's good, even though your parents have a place, it's still best to have your own."
"That's what I think. Huang Lin feels uncomfortable living at my parents' place." juzi's wish to earn her own money was largely for Huang Lin's sake.
"Alright." Since juzi put it that way, Fang Pingying was ready to settle the matter and asked her, "What do you usually like, or do you have any ideas in mind, for what kind of store you'd like to open?"
juzi appeared to have a plan in her heart long ago. Smiling, she said, "I actually want to open a ready-to-wear clothing store. I think the clothes you make are stylish, sister-in-law. If we sell them, I'm sure people will buy them."
"A ready-to-wear clothing store?" Fang Pingying remembered from her past life that in the later '80s and '90s, clothing stores indeed had a good run for quite some time, and she felt it was feasible,
"That could work, but this business would need either a dedicated small factory for ready-to-wear or a reliable team of tailors. We can't make them ourselves, we'd only be providing the designs and such."(To be continued.
