Chapter 21 - Request
Chapter 21 - Request
"Okay, well, you humans have a nice life." Kana simply ignored them and went back to roasting her horned rabbit.
"Wait!" A sloshing sound could be heard as Ceilie, who was soaked head to toe, finally swam back to shore. Water dripped from her clothes. Her blonde hair that was originally tied into a ponytail now fell just past her shoulders. Her sky blue eyes fell on Kana with a bit of conflict in them.
Kana, who had just pulled the roast horned rabbit off the fire, was just about to take a bite when Ceilie spoke up. She quickly hugged the roast hoard rabbit and narrowed her eyes at Ceilie. "You're not getting any!"
"I don't want your food!" Ceilie yelled out while stomping her feet.
"Then what do you want? Another trip in the lake?" Kana growled. She did not know if this human wanted to try to fight with her again or not.
"No! I am not stupid enough to try to fight someone who can smack me once and send me flying, as you just did. I know I can not win against you. I want to ask if you would be willing to assist us over the next few days. To be honest, we took on a quest from the adventurers guild that is a bit too over our head. As for payment for helping us, we will accept any requests you may have as long as we can fulfill them." Ceilie asked, bowing her head. This actually surprised her whole team. Mainly because Ceilie was the proudest amongst them all, and she hardly ever lowered her head to anyone.
"Kana, do it." Lysairth suddenly spoke up.
"But you told me not to trust humans…" Kana replied. She was confused by Lysairths change of attitude.
"If we can get them to give you a fishing rod with spare hooks, you can eat fish, and a bag would also be good. Ask for those two things in return for helping them complete their quest." Lyisarth wanted a bag so Kana could carry some items around with her, and a fishing rod would allow Kana to eat the fish she did not get to eat before. Lysairth knew Kana was sad about not getting to eat any. So with the opportunity knocking at their door, there was no reason not to take them up on an easy offer like this.
"Fish!"As soon as she heard she could eat fish, Kana was all for it. "Alright, I will ask then."
"I do not mind helping, but I must request two things from you." Kana looked straight at Ceilie with a serious expression. Of course, she would be serious since this was a way for her to eat some fish. She had been wondering what fish would taste like since Lysairth told her about it.
"If we can fulfill them, I will do everything I can to help." Ceilie answered back just as seriously.
"I want a fishing rod with extra hooks and a bag." Kana announced. The way she spoke, you would think she was asking for millions in money with how firm her expression was. It was one of those; this is what I want, take it or leave it type of expression.
"That's it?" Ceilie was expecting something much more grand. But when she thought about it, this was a lizard they were talking about. Although sentient, it was still a lizard. And since this was a human country that enslaved demi humans and looked down on all other races, there was no way the lizard in front of her could venture into a town to get certain things.
"That's it. Will you accept, or no? If not, please leave. I would like to eat my meal in peace." Kana said flatly. It would be nice if they were willing to give her what she needed, but if they did not, there was nothing she could do about it. She was not going to work for free.
"Ah! Yes, of course. "Ceilie smiled and nodded her head. She was happy that her team and her could finish their quest now. She knew that even without the three eyed horned bear chasing after them, they would not have been able to fend off the monsters that were already attacking them with ease. They were caught up in that fight for a while, and we're already starting to grow tired. "Are you sure that is it, though? Such simple things we already have on us. If there is anything else, just ask."
Ceilie felt kind of bad taking advantage of the poor little lizard. Because they had to travel deep into the forest, it was not going to be an easy trip.
Kana looked at Ceilie, who waited for her response, and thought for a moment before two things came to mind. "A pillow and blanket!" Yes, she wanted a pillow and blanket. Since she had a bag, she could store them in there while she traveled. It would make things much easier to carry around.
"Pillow and blanket… Ray! Run to town and get the things the little liza…" Ceilie's was cut off when Kana interrupted her.
"My name is Kana!" Kana was starting to get sick of being called lizard this, lizard that.
"Ahem… yes, sorry. Get the things Kana has asked for." Ceilie gave an apologetic nod to Kana before turning her attention back to Ray.
"Huh? Why me? You made the deal; you go! Right, Kana?" Ray said as he turned to Kana and smiled.
"Do it, or I will slap you with my tail." Kana did not like Ray looking at her. He looked like those human traffickers that used to always try to swindle her into following them, back in her past life. That stupid smile that Ray had on his face made her want to beat him up.
"Huh, Why!? What did I do!?" Ray was confused as to what he did to cause Kana to dislike him.
"Your smile pisses me off!"
