Chapter 1: Prologue
In the year 1226 of the United Calendar, in the Kingdom of Valheim, stood a church of unknown origin.
Inside the church, the air carried the scent of antiquity and reverence, adding a touch of the remnants of holiness and divinity that were once practiced here. The marble tiles and sturdy walls were painted a light gray, adding a somber aspect to the place.
In the center of the church stood a flawlessly sculpted statue, so lifelike that it seemed to be a real person, were it not for the fact that its upper half was crudely shattered, the remnants of the top crumbling like ash in the air.
Before the broken statue, a large altar stood elegantly, transcending time. It was large compared to the typical altars one might see. It seemed as though it was intended for something larger than humans.
A boy lay sprawled on the altar, at ease. His long, dark black hair absorbed the pale moonlight filtering through the ceiling, scattering across his face, concealing most of his features, which were carefully carved by the gods themselves.
After an unknown amount of time, one of his fingers twitched, followed by the rest of his hand.
The boy opened his eyes, revealing two pools of utter darkness trapped within. They were like the abyss itself. If you dared to gaze into them with fascination, you might never escape their enchantment.
Unlike his hair, his flawless, sickly pale skin reflected the moonlight, making him appear to glow, filled with an aura of grace.
Even his simple robe, which was a loose black fabric with wide sleeves and hems, added to his cold and calm charm.
The boy stared into the air with an unfocused gaze for a while, muttering unintelligible words before shaking his head and looking around.
After a few moments, beads of sweat began to form on his face as the heat emanating from his body intensified. But he didn't scream, not yet at least.
The young boy swayed in place, trying to balance himself. Even he didn't know why he was resisting the rising heat, so after a second thought, he decided not to suppress it and resist it, letting it do what it wanted.
The heat inside him intensified as if more wood had been thrown onto a fire, causing him to fall to the ground. However, he did not scream or make any sound that would express the pain he was feeling.
After a period of struggle, blood flowed from all the orifices of his face. His eyes, nose, ears, and even his mouth leaked fresh red blood that flowed to the ground and stained the ancient marble tiles.
The blood continued to flow from his face without him saying anything until his eyelids began to slowly close. He tried to resist the encroaching darkness that was invading his consciousness, but he did not succeed.
The boy quietly dropped his head to the ground in relaxed surrender and sank into the darkness.

Geographically, the city of Centraville reaped many benefits, unlike the rest of the kingdoms and nations. This was due to its unique location on the map and also to the presence of the Supreme Council, composed of royal members from the other kingdoms, overseeing the city. There were external members, but most of them belonged to the rulers of the other kingdoms.
On the paper map, which depicted a single, large continent with precision, the city of Centraville was placed in its center. This distinctive geographical location boosted its economy and trade with other kingdoms, allowing it to flourish as a vital and multicultural hub.
To the north of Centraville's location on the map, the map was colored white and light blue, reflecting the constant cold of winter there.
That was the Kingdom of Iskalde – the Land of Ice and home to the Frost Elves and Giants.
Although the number of giants was very small, alongside the Frost Elves, they were classified as the strongest fighting force on the continent.
The Frost Elves were monsters of another kind when it came to combat. Their tough physique and resilience in slipping away from death only made them more frightening and threatening.
On the western side lay the Kingdom of Noctaris – or as it was called, the Land of Shadows.
The West had a strict system of government that followed a very noble hierarchy. This was due to the main ruling race there.
Vampires.
They were also the reason why their capital – Nightville – was dubbed the secluded city, as they preferred not to mix much with other races and have half-breeds. They were so disgusted by this that it sparked a conflict between them and the Kingdom of Valheim, who couldn't believe that these words were coming from the mouth of a race that practiced incest as if it were a normal act.
Besides the vampires, there were also the Dark Elves and a lesser race of vampires called Bloodkin. Unlike vampires, they were on the shorter side of longevity and needed blood to survive, which didn't help in giving them a strong foothold to stand alongside the other races.
And speaking of the Kingdom of Valheim, the rulers of the east, it was considered the original homeland of humans previously, but with the passage of time and the division of elves into different races due to their different customs and traditions, it became a home for both humans and elves. The cooperation of the two races created what Valheim is now.
A civilized center for education and the arts that produced many prominent philosophers and artists. The union of the two races also caused the kingdom's military power to increase dramatically. This made it stand on equal footing with Noctaris, known for its fighting power that came directly after Iskalde.
The South was considered somewhat weaker or could be classified as very primitive compared to the rest. It was a contrasting area between dense forests filled with rivers and dormant volcanoes, and vast deserts gleaming under the scorching sun.
The south was named Mithra. And it was home to intelligent beasts. For example, lizardmen, orcs, and many other races that have been struggling for power for many years.
Although they were divided and did not agree with each other, they were very strong due to their diverse characteristics. Perhaps, perhaps if they allied, they might become a force that threatened the other kingdoms. Other than that, they were weak as separate races.
The only thing that prevented the rest of the superior races from claiming the South was the presence of the great Bloodville Forest. It was home to disasters that no one wanted to get into trouble with.
It is said that it contains one of the ancient dragons as a guardian for it and its inhabitants. Whether that was real or false, no one wanted to try and find out for themselves. Facing a dragon was the last thing any sane person would want.
And the damage would be catastrophic!
Finally, we had the center, the city of Centraville – the neutral city and capital of the continent.
It was located in the center of all these kingdoms, making it a well-known center for the rest of the races to get to know each other. It also housed the most famous academy on the continent, the Serevail Academy. It could be said that it attracted the children of the highest nobility from all the other kingdoms to get to know each other.
This city was created by one of the legendary heroes and was placed under the rule of all races except the races that ruled the West. The main reason for its creation was to eliminate racial discrimination between them by making it a home for half-breeds.
Previously, they were looked upon with contempt and disgust due to their dual existence, to the point that there was no place for them among the rest in any of the other kingdoms. Hell, they were even enslaved.
But after Valas, one of the three legendary heroes, made it a place for half-breeds and promoted interbreeding between races, it became a home for every oppressed half-breed.
Although there are still those who look at half-breeds with the same disdainful, disgusted look, most of the kingdoms have come to support interbreeding between different races to end the painful and inhumane era of slavery.
The races needed each other now more than ever.
A new continent had appeared. A continent bearing unknown races. A continent that held no promise of good.
The Demon King and his followers were looming on the horizon, after all.
Yes, the Demon King.
I mean, what did you expect from a cheesy game where you can build a harem?
And all that was explained earlier was an introduction to a stupid game that I played just on a whim.
"Hahahaha."
I didn't suppress my desire to laugh. The situation was hilarious. Especially after knowing the role I was playing now.
Ah, what can I say? Cliché?
I shook my head and sighed. After standing up properly without any swaying, I noticed that I was in a real mess.
My face was covered in blood. Probably from the strange event that happened a while ago. No, it wasn't strange, honestly.
Did Selas and I become one?
I was sure of it.
Many memories rushed into my head at that time. It felt like I was watching a dream from afar as emotions and memories invaded my mind.
"Damn…"
I cursed upon looking at the blood below me. I certainly didn't lose just a little.
Now that I think about it, where the hell was I?
It's true it was a game, but this place is unfamiliar…
A church?
Even in the memories, there's no hint of why I'm here…
I looked at the destroyed statue in front of me. There was a sense of holiness wrapped around it as if it were alive.
For a moment, I felt like it was looking at me, even though its head was shattered and became mere crumbs.
…Okay, that's kind of creepy.
The feeling of someone watching you wasn't really pleasant.
I looked behind me towards the exit, which was in the shape of an arched doorway, and immediately left the church without waiting for anything to happen.
