Rebirth of the Super Battleship

Chapter 317: A Discussion

After listening to this message, Xiao Yu remained silent for a long time.

"So, the true Trolor is already dead… So, Trolor was the name of a civilization, not a single individual… And it turns out that about five hundred thousand years ago, there really was a mighty civilization that awakened the intelligence of the beings on this planet."

Countless complicated thoughts tangled together in Xiao Yu's mind.

But amid the chaos, Xiao Yu keenly noticed a question.

The question was very simple: since this weapon called 'Fractured Space' had already been developed by the Trolor Civilization in a form that could be used by a Level 4 Civilization, and since this technology was meant as their legacy to this world's intelligent beings, why didn't they simply store the relevant information inside the box itself, instead of placing it in the so-called 'New World' and requiring this civilization to go and retrieve it?

Which of these two approaches would have been simpler?

Without a doubt, putting the information directly into the box and handing it over would have been much simpler. Yet the Trolor Civilization had deliberately chosen the more complicated method.

From this message, Xiao Yu knew that when the Trolor Civilization was fighting that unknown terrifying civilization, conditions were already so dire that they could not even guarantee the box would reach its target twenty light-years away. Under such extreme circumstances, they still insisted on placing the information inside the New World. This act seemed to carry a deeper purpose.

Xiao Yu also noticed that the Trolor Civilization had mentioned the Sweepers Civilization by name. It was very likely that the terrifying civilization the Trolor referred to was the Sweepers, the ones who possessed the Neutron War Star. If that were true, then the Trolor Civilization, like the Micron Civilization and the withered Specter elder, had been among the many civilizations destroyed by the Sweepers.

"Then…let's speculate. There are a few possible scenarios. First, this is simply a trap set by some advanced civilization, deliberately creating such a box to lure me to those coordinates in order to do something harmful to me. The reason? Many could be imagined, for example, that White Dwarf Alien Beast once also used deception, trying to draw me within its reach. The second possibility is that in this New World, the Trolor Civilization deliberately set certain trials. They wanted this civilization to obtain the technology only after passing their tests."

"Which of these possibilities is correct?" Xiao Yu fell into deep thought.

"Have this message analyzed by the psychosocial sciences division." Xiao Yu made his decision.

"Luka Two, I have some information for you. I need you to help me analyze it," Xiao Yu said. "Here is the background of the message. Just now…"

"We are honored to contribute our strength for you." Luka Two, who had been presiding over a social survey, immediately set aside the task, stood up quickly, and gave a respectful bow toward the unseen Xiao Yu. Though it could not see Xiao Yu, it knew Xiao Yu could see it.

"Convening a meeting is best. During the meeting, we can discuss this together… This matter is of great importance. If we truly acquire this technology, our strength will improve immensely once again. This Fractured Space weapon, just from the name, appears to use space fragmentation as its means of attack. A Negative Matter Cannon can still be countered by continuously charging a shield, but a method that breaks space itself… at least as we are now, we have no way to defend against that." Xiao Yu said.

Although Luka Two specialized in psychosocial science, it still understood enough about science and technology to grasp just how significant the Fractured Space weapon was to Xiao Yu.

Luka Two's orders were swiftly transmitted, and half an hour later, several hundred psychosocial scientists from various species had assembled. Some of these scientists had once been politicians, others merchants, but no matter their background, every one of them was as slippery as a creature could be, so practiced in schemes and manipulation that deceit came to them as naturally as eating or drinking. Of course, under Xiao Yu's rule, they had all been tamed into complete submission. Xiao Yu firmly held their lifelines in his grasp, and all resources were monopolized by him alone. Even Luka Two, Luka Three, and Luka Four, his most trusted aides, had never been allowed to share any portion of that monopoly, let alone these others.

Under such conditions, playing tricks simply wasn't worth it. Even if they could momentarily deceive Xiao Yu and gain some small advantage, eventually Xiao Yu would see through it, and by then, the punishment would be something none of them could endure. So whenever they faced Xiao Yu, they always behaved with utmost honesty.

Luka Three and Luka Four, leaders of the Science and Technology Division, were also present at this meeting. They would not offer their own opinions on this incident because their strength lay in scientific and technological matters, when it came to scheming and intrigue, they were not even one-thousandth as proficient as these psychosocial scientists. Their role here was to provide technical support for the experts in manipulation.

"The reason everyone has been summoned today is because an unusual incident has taken place… The master requires your collective wisdom to analyze the credibility of this message, to determine whether there may be any hidden conspiracy within it." Luka Two spoke unhurriedly, his tone calm and measured.

Luka Two was already several thousand years old, but thanks to advances in biological science, he still showed no sign of aging. In fact, with the continued progress of biotechnology, he would keep living, likely for several thousand more years.

Long centuries had tempered his resilient mindset. Over his life, he had experienced countless events, he had even infiltrated the Azure Market of the Molian Civilization to serve as a spy, a venture so dangerous that nothing else could shake him anymore.

As Luka Two spoke, he played a video. The footage perfectly reproduced the message transmitted from the box.

"Some of you may not be aware of certain background details. Here is the situation, when the master was fighting the Level 4 Alien Beast, he allowed an asteroid to impact this planet… This box was discovered as a result."

"I have an objection." Luka Two had scarcely finished speaking when a psychosocial scientist stood up and said, "I question the authenticity of this message. My reasoning is simple, this box may not have been hidden inside the asteroid at all. It could have slipped in opportunistically, using the distraction of so many asteroids entering the atmosphere as cover. Who can prove that it came along with the asteroid, instead of simply sneaking in at the same time?"

"Hmm?" Xiao Yu was momentarily stunned. He had indeed not considered this possibility.

"Lord Three, I would like to ask, if this box had quietly arrived from somewhere else, would our monitoring network have detected it?"

Luka Three pondered briefly, then replied, "Under tight monitoring conditions, it could have been detected. But during the meteor shower, since we did not implement strict surveillance measures, it would have been impossible to detect."

"I have finished." The psychosocial scientist shrugged and sat down.

"Very good. So now we have raised one question, we cannot ascertain the true origin of this box. I want to ask, Lord Three, with our current technology, can we determine the precise era in which it was constructed?" Luka Two asked.

Luka Three shook his head and said, "We cannot. This box was created using technology we have yet to comprehend. With what we currently possess, we have no way to analyze its time of manufacture."

"I see…" Luka Two fell into brief thought, then asked, "Does anyone have further opinions?"

"First of all, since we cannot confirm the box's origin or its age, our only option is to look for clues within the content of the message itself. Lord Three, I would like to know, during genetic analysis, did we find evidence that the planet's intelligent beings had been genetically modified?"

"We cannot be certain. We cannot conclusively determine whether such evidence exists or does not exist." Luka Three paused and then consulted scientists at the Biological Science Institute through a personal communicator before giving his answer.

"So, at this point, we can't even verify the authenticity of the message." The psychosocial scientist said with some helplessness.

"We should focus our analysis on key aspects." Another scientist stood up to offer their perspective. "Fixating on these details has no value. What we should be discussing is whether it is logical, whether it is possible, for such a Level 6 Civilization to exist in the universe, no, in the Milky Way, and, at the moment of their inevitable extinction, to selflessly nurture a weaker civilization. Does this behavior have any logic? Could it truly occur among advanced civilizations?"

This question sparked a round of discussion. On this point, Xiao Yu gave his own answer. "That possibility does exist. There's no need to ask the specifics, because I have personally experienced it."

Xiao Yu's confidence in saying this came, of course, from the deceased elder of the Specter Race. At the moment of its death, it had given Xiao Yu selfless assistance and taught him many things.

"All right, then let us discuss the next question, the purpose behind this act by the Trolor Civilization, what meaning does it hold?"
