Rebirth of the Super Battleship

Chapter 307: Third Contact

During the process of infiltrating the satellite, Xiao Yu had already acquired enough information about this civilization's writing, language, and other data. So now, he could clearly understand what this native intelligent lifeform was saying.

"So this counts as my first contact with this civilization, and it happens to be under these circumstances," Xiao Yu thought with some amusement. "I hope it doesn't think I came here to steal its dog. Otherwise… I'd be thoroughly embarrassing the extraterrestrial community. I traveled across thousands of light-years to get here, and it wasn't to steal your dog."

"What are you? What are you things? Don't come any closer, stay back!"

The creature was trembling all over, clutching something like a stick in front of itself and shouting in a quavering voice.

Indeed, the scene was quite eerie. The combat robots Xiao Yu had built, while not exactly monstrous, were far from friendly in appearance: two meters tall, their bodies emanating a metallic aura, with thick limbs and, worst of all, eyes that glowed a dim red after the infrared night vision engaged. Altogether, they looked utterly terrifying.

"No need to waste words, just seize it," Xiao Yu decided, and moved the three robots forward.

"Stay back! Stay back!"

The creature shouted at the top of its lungs but kept retreating. When the robots stepped into the reach of the lights and it finally saw their forms in detail, it let out a strangled scream, and fainted cleanly, with some suspicious fluid leaking from its lower body.

"This fellow… what a coward," Xiao Yu thought, a little amused.

The three robots boarded in turn, and the Village-Class ship quickly lifted off, departing the planet.

A mature native intelligent lifeform, and a dog-like creature, became Xiao Yu's trophies from this excursion.

"I'm also abducting their people now… Based on my deductions, before Earth was destroyed, many alien civilizations had already visited it and abducted countless humans. I wonder how those humans are living now. I've grown powerful, someday I will rescue all of you. As long as I am here, no being will ever treat you that way again…"

Xiao Yu silently vowed in his heart.

During the return trip, the creature never regained consciousness, which gave Xiao Yu a bit of peace. Upon reaching the Yanjing, Xiao Yu placed it in the biological laboratory and began studying it.

The lab, dominated by white surfaces, didn't contain much equipment. In the center stood a single bed, where the being was now restrained.

"Who are you? Which planet did you come from? Please, don't kill me, I've never done anything wrong. If you have to arrest someone, arrest those criminals. Please, let me go, let me go home!"

At some point, the creature had awakened. Having quickly realized its situation, it was now screaming in terror. Xiao Yu ignored it and simply directed a robot to approach.

"No, no, don't!"

It struggled frantically, but it was completely useless. As the robot's injector pierced its flesh, it slumped once more into unconsciousness.

"Hm… the average lifespan of this species seems to be around ninety years, a bit longer than humans. This one's age is probably between twenty and twenty-five. The species has distinct sexes, and this one is male. They possess a genetic structure completely different from humans, apparently a linear genome. Their brain volume is smaller than that of humans, but extremely dense, so their intelligence may even surpass human levels."

After only a short period of analysis, Xiao Yu had gathered a vast amount of data. He didn't proceed to dissect the creature or conduct direct experiments on its body, not because of any concern for human rights or compassion, but simply because he felt it was unnecessary.

Once he had fully understood the being's physiology, Xiao Yu fed all the data into another program. In a different biological laboratory, a body almost identical to the captured specimen was manufactured. The only difference was that this fabricated body had no brain tissue. Instead, it contained a control chip created by Xiao Yu.

This control chip also incorporated transmission and reception functions, allowing Xiao Yu to control the body remotely through it.

"There are still more than two months before the asteroid impact. Subjugating this civilization isn't urgent. For now, I may as well control this body and experience their daily life firsthand," Xiao Yu thought.

He guided the body into a Village-Class ship, which then transported it down to the planet's surface.

It was the same low building as before. Once the ship set the body down, it quickly flew away. Xiao Yu had the body stretch comfortably. Every sensation it experienced was transmitted into the chip in its skull, then relayed directly into Xiao Yu's consciousness aboard the Yanjing.

"Mmm, the morning air is really fresh," Xiao Yu remarked with a sigh.

By now, dawn had come. The sky was no longer completely dark, but softly lit. Xiao Yu didn't go into the building but stood there, looking toward where the star would soon rise.

Any planet orbiting a star and rotating on its axis would have sunrises and sunsets, nothing remarkable about that.

Before his eyes, a round, reddish sun slowly rose above the horizon, casting light across the world.

That light seemed to unlock something, because Xiao Yu heard sounds begin to drift in from all directions. On the road, other intelligent beings were starting to move about.

"Moir, what were you yelling about last night? I couldn't sleep at all because of you," one passerby complained with a hint of irritation.

Xiao Yu controlled the body to turn around and face the being, smiling slightly without answering.

"Oh, Moir, you're up so early today? That's not like you at all. Didn't you drink last night? I don't smell that nasty stench on you anymore."

Xiao Yu had no idea what this person's name was, nor did he understand their culture well, so he still said nothing and only smiled back. The other being chattered on for quite a while, and when Xiao Yu never responded, it finally lost patience, cursed once, and hurried off.

"This place is so much like Earth… Hm, this must be the outskirts. I should go see the city," Xiao Yu mused.

He didn't know what transportation was common in this civilization, nor did he care to find out. Spotting something that looked roughly like a bicycle in Moir's yard, he simply climbed on and began pedaling down the path, heading toward wherever there were more people.

Everything he passed along the way fascinated him. The architecture, the clothing styles, they were all utterly different from Earth. Many details struck Xiao Yu as genuinely interesting.

As he rode along, many of the intelligent beings he passed whispered quietly among themselves, clearly regarding the body he controlled as somehow peculiar. Xiao Yu couldn't be bothered to care. He simply continued serenely, ignoring all the stares and doing as he pleased.

The road gradually widened until he reached what appeared to be a town. The population density increased dramatically. Crowds of beings hurried by, and every time they passed Xiao Yu, they glanced at him in mild surprise. To all these curious looks, Xiao Yu responded with calm composure, showing no trace of unease.

Nearby, there was something like a plaza. Along the edge stood a massive screen broadcasting a news report.

Xiao Yu's attention was drawn immediately, and he turned his gaze toward it. On the screen, a female of the species was speaking rapidly.

"Astronomers have confirmed that the bright object recently observed in the night sky is an asteroid originating from the asteroid belt. Whether it will collide with the homeworld is still uncertain. Astronomers will continue to monitor it closely. If it is determined to pose a threat, the United Government will act decisively to destroy it. Now, let's invite the renowned astronomer Mr. Rudolph to explain further…"

"Recently, two images have been widely circulated on the network. Many rumors claim that a vast alien fleet is approaching our planet. Mr. Rudolph, what is your view on this matter?"

"This claim is completely unfounded. We have no evidence whatsoever that any alien fleet has arrived near our world. In fact, the images themselves are not fabricated, they were taken by the Moto Observatory's telescope of our moon. You can see here, there are several small black dots that resemble spaceships. This is the origin of the rumor.

"To verify this, I personally contacted the Moto Observatory staff. They confirmed that a few days ago, the telescope experienced a malfunction, which is why it captured these images. In other words, those suspicious spaceship-like black dots were caused by equipment failure."

"There is no such thing as an alien fleet," he concluded.
