Chapter 9: A lasting memory.
The rays of the full moon slipped through the window, directly onto both Lumin and Shirley.
"Ahhh~"
Shirley moaned, her thighs locked around Lumin's waist as she allowed him to kiss her on the neck, his soft lips leaving waves of pleasure rushing inside her.
They were both naked, which made it multiple times more erotic as their heated skin pressed against one another.
Lumin had placed one hand on the bed to balance himself; the other gripped Shirley's slender waist, giving him the right position to continue teasing her neck.
"Lumin~" she parted her lips, saliva trailing down as she widened her mouth even more.
At this point, Lumin pulled away, his breath heated, looking her directly in the eye.
"Am I—am I hurting you?" he asked.
Feeling too turned on, Shirley kept moving her hips, grinding her wetness on Lumin's erection.
"Keep going, please don't stop."
Lumin stared at her for a while.
Then, with a single motion, he locked one of her hands to the bed, kissed her on the lips, and then slipped his other finger toward her lower thighs.
Shirley twitched, embracing his fingers as they dipped into her.
Hmmm~
Another moan left her mouth, her fingers digging into his hair.
Steadily, Lumin increased his pace, pushing his single finger in and out of her.
For a brief second, it felt like Shirley was in heaven, tears hanging at the edge of her eyes.
It was the first time she had ever felt anything like this. The first time she had ever been held close.
Soon, Lumin's hard rod was inside her, ramming hard in all kinds of positions.
Despite it also being his first time, Lumin knew exactly how to hold and handle her.
Their sex lasted for a full hour, with only moans and grunts filling the room.
And then, in what seemed like forever, they were finished, both of them embracing each other on the bed.
…
As he lay on the bed, Lumin's eyes were focused on the ceiling. Shirley rested on his chest.
Since he could only see the top of her head, he couldn't quite tell the type of expression that was on her face. But judging from how she was playing with his fingers, it would be safe to say she enjoyed the experience.
Though, that wasn't what Lumin had on his mind at the moment.
And Shirley could tell.
"Are you wondering why I threw myself at you, or are you curious to know the real reason I saved you? Maybe both."
'She can tell; I am not surprised.'
Lumin sighed.
"I guess both."
"I had sex with you because I wanted to have sex with you. There is no other reason for that; a man and a woman living in the same home, it's bound to happen eventually."
"…"
"As for the second, you might say it's a bit complicated," she paused for a while, then she continued, "My reason for coming to this forest was to hide from my mother. She would always tell me stories of how the Harbinger was buried here. Since she hated this place, it was by far the best hiding spot for me."
"So when I saw you on the mountain, with those strange clothes, I thought to myself, he is lost just like me; I'll bring him in and use him as my eyes and ears to the outside world."
Lumin wore an uneasy look on his face. 'E-EH?'
Shirley suddenly looked up at him.
"But I changed my mind after a month of us living together; you are not like the rest of the humans I have seen. You don't have that toxic smell on you, my skin doesn't get irritated when you touch me, you are different, and that is why I like you the way I do."
She then averted her gaze. "I wanted us to keep staying together, forever. I guess life is too cruel for fairytale wishes. Mother knows where I am; it's only a matter of time before they come for me."
"That is the real reason you came on to me tonight," Lumin chimed in.
"Can you blame me?" Shirley had a somewhat despairing look on her face. "This is the first time I have felt this way about anyone. I didn't just want to let it go like that, geez, you're making me sound cheesy."
Lumin sat upright.
Shirley did the same, though she didn't look at him directly.
"Your mother, is she so strong that you can't oppose her?"
"Of everyone in the Nexus organization, I am the second strongest; despite the fact I make all the weapons, there is someone else who can use them far better than I can. Still, she doesn't come close to the Witch of Calamity, not by a long shot. Now what do you think I can do against her?"
"…I see. That does sound hopeless."
"My point exactly."
Shirley lay back down, this time her head resting on his lap.
"I can't run away either; the moment I step out of this forest, the members of the Nexus organization hiding in the shadows will hunt me down. It's exactly as you said, hopeless."
Lumin turned his gaze outside the window.
If Shirley herself claims nothing could be done about it, then he most definitely doesn't have a chance.
That said,
"When the time comes, allow me to remain by your side; you won't be lonely if I am there, right?"
Shirley didn't reply; she curled up like a ball, holding Lumin's hand close to her face.
"How sweet of you; I almost fell for you there."
"That wasn't the point I was trying to make."
"I don't care. You've made your promise; you better keep it."
Moments later, Shirley had fallen asleep.
Lumin, on the other hand, was still awake.
He used the opportunity to his advantage, placing Shirley on the bed so she could sleep comfortably, while he took hold of her working table.
Calmly, he picked five different books covering different topics and sat down.
'This should have everything I want to learn.'
