Chapter 495 - 13 Behind-the-Scenes Scheming and the Slime Girl
As Anvis was arranging his clone to set out on an investigation, in another place, deep within a secret cave on the western side of the Paravani Province, within the northwest branch of the Dibilos Mountains.
"... The news of the Sword of King Selection has already been spread out, and by now, the people of the Four Great Families are all aware of it.
The memories of the surviving members of that expedition team have also been cleared, but there was an unexpected incident during the process.
The person from the Olivendi Family who obtained the information was not the expected second son Evan, but rather it fell into the hands of the fourth son, Anvis."
Inside the lavishly decorated rock hall, a black-robed Secret Guard respectfully bowed on the red carpet, reporting to a young man who sat on the throne with his eyes closed, as if napping.
"The reason?"
Listening to his subordinate's report, the young man lifted his hand to rub his brow and slowly opened his eyes, revealing a pair of cold dark gold vertical pupils reminiscent of a reptile's.
An unexpected event means an uncontrollable variable.
He did not like variables that went beyond the plan.
"According to the plan, when the Bounty Hunter squad 'accidentally' obtained the coordinates and was about to contact a buyer to sell them, they caught two trackers.
Coincidentally, those two trackers were Anvis's men, and both were foreigners.
Thus, they contacted them directly and completed the transaction smoothly."
Reporting the situation, the tone of the black-robed Secret Guard was slightly tense.
"Marquis, do we continue with the original plan and keep leaking the information to Evan Olivendi?"
"I see... there's no need to look for Evan anymore, that would be too deliberate. Our goal is just to make sure all the Four Great Families are aware of the news; there's no need to do anything extra."
Rubbing his brow again, the young man raised his right hand, and a point of golden Magic Light Points suddenly appeared above his palm.
To the Perception of the Secret Guard below, the aura of the light point was like that of a condensed and extremely powerful yet unstable sun. Should it explode, he would have no chance of surviving at such close range.
"Anvis, I remember now. Born with balanced Bloodlines, his Talent surpasses his three elder brothers, yet his brilliance is entirely overshadowed by his younger sister by one year, Fiona, and his current strength is at... Fourth Rank middle stage?"
Idly playing with the golden light point in his hand, the young man muttered to himself, the destructive energy in his palm as stable and harmless as a Crystal Ball.
"He hasn't had his coming-of-age ceremony yet, has he? Hehe, that's quite an impressive rate of cultivation. But since he's been drawn in, then it must be his destined fate—
This corrupted Empire, has been at peace for far too long. The fools of 'The Eyes within the Pupils' are not sufficient for great accomplishments; I've cooperated with them for so long, and now even their Leader has vanished, it's utterly laughable."
Listening to the young man's monologue, the black-robed Secret Guard below kept his head down, a bead of sweat forming on his forehead, trying his best to minimize his presence.
This was not something he should be hearing. The more he heard, the more likely he would not survive.
"That's enough, let it be."
After a moment of silence, the one above finally grasped the light point in his hand and waved his hand, signaling him to leave on his own.
Wiping the sweat carefully, the Hidden Guard paid his respects with a bow to the figure and then vanished from the room without daring to look back.
After his departure, the young figure on the throne slowly stood up and walked to a rock wall behind the throne.
Gazing at the seemingly ordinary rock wall, the young man gently lifted his hand to touch it.
As he moved, ripples appeared on the wall where his palm touched, and quickly expanded into a low stone gate.
Once the ripples had completely dissipated, the young man withdrew his hand, and the stone gate automatically rose, revealing a small secret chamber before him.
In the center of the room, a dusty stone sword was embedded in a block of pure white granite, resembling a stone sculpture.
"Sword of King Selection...what kind of secrets do you hold?"
Caressing the cold hilt of the stone sword, the young man stood lost in contemplation.
.........
At this moment, his original body had returned to Pamir Academy as Anvis, unaware that he had once again become entangled in the schemes of others.
He was simply carrying on with his regular studies and research, while also planning the development of the Player Force, relishing this brief period of tranquility.
Even though his avatars remained in the Federation maintaining the situation, and despite them being completely controlled by his consciousness, it was still nice for his original self to live and research quietly at Pamir Academy.
After over a year of tumultuous war conditions in the Federation, it was comforting to return to the calm and peaceful daily life of the academy, to witness the odd research of his classmates, and to regularly see Fiona through the Crystal Ball.
And now, Anvis was preparing to maintain the current state of his original body for a while, signaling to the outside world his 'harmlessness'.
His true strength was still too weak; he had to lay low in the shadows, waiting for an opportunity to strengthen himself and weaken his enemies.
Only by learning to keep a low profile could he ensure his survival for longer.
"Lord Anvis, wait for me!"
After finishing his morning classes, as Anvis rode on a Floating Disc from the Mysterious Tower to the dining hall, he suddenly heard a familiar voice behind him.
"Is it about customizing a Slime girl again?"
Glancing back at Harvey catching up, Anvis was no longer surprised by his reasons.
Ever since the Secret Ceremony Society introduced Slime girls, those aware of the Society's connections with Anvis understood the origins of such creatures.
Although Slime girls were considered magical creatures and had intelligence comparable to that of ordinary Slimes, they still had the appearance of girls, and what's more, they were a completely new species of girl.
As a result, many were curious and hoped to obtain some samples to study the differences between their bodily structures and those of normal species, and this naturally included Harvey.
Furthermore, Anvis had previously succeeded in cultivating the Curse Giant Dragon Slime using breeding tanks.
The newly born Slime had a strong Curse Field and resembled a sticky Giant Dragon in appearance, but seemed incapable of using Curse Dragon Breath.
Therefore, Anvis concluded that for Giant Dragon Slimes, inheriting traits did not necessarily require organs from a parent, but that life information fragments could also be used to artificially breed Slimes with parental characteristics.
So, Harvey had brought him some hair to be used as life fragments for cultivation.
However, for some reason, once his elder brother Evan learned about the Giant Dragon Slime, he approached him, hoping to customize some tentacle Slimes that were capable of impregnating a host.
Although Anvis was unclear about the use Evan had in mind for such creatures, he felt utterly taken aback by the request.
