Rebirth of the Mining Tycoon

Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Cash Bonus

Chapter 47: Cash Bonus

"President Qin, we've already submitted the invoice to the Mining & Metallurgy Company's finance department, and they've transferred the 300,000 yuan bonus to our account." Wu Fang, the head of the finance department, came over specifically to report the news.

Although the Mining & Metallurgy Company and the Exploration Company were both subsidiaries under the Wukuang Group, their finances were independently managed, and all accounting procedures were highly standardized.

"Alright, I've got it."

Qin Jianshe tidied up the documents on his desk and made his way to Zhou Tianqi's office.

Small executive meetings were usually held right there in Zhou Tianqi's office.

At this point, both Zhou Tianqi and Yang Xueping were already seated on the couch, waiting for Qin Jianshe to arrive.

"Now that everyone's here, let's begin our leadership meeting."

The meeting had been proposed by Qin Jianshe, and Zhou Tianqi now looked at him. "President Qin, please chair the meeting."

There were only three people, but Qin Jianshe treated it with full seriousness. He spread out the documents in his hands and spoke solemnly. "Our company wasn't originally involved in the Demen Copper Mine project. At the time, Zhao Hepu asked me to visit the site and offer some suggestions. I went, but I didn't have much to offer. So I sent Li Tang—he's a newcomer—to go look around and gain some experience. I never expected it would have such incredible results. Li Tang not only identified the root issue of resource depletion at the mine, but he also provided an extremely advanced metallurgical solution."

"This has already reached the upper echelons of the Group," Zhou Tianqi nodded in agreement. "Li Tang is a promising young man—definitely worth developing."

After a short pause, Qin Jianshe continued. "The Mining & Metallurgy Company transferred us a 300,000 yuan reward. This isn't designated project funding, which gives us some flexibility in how we use it. My proposal is to allocate 100,000 yuan of it as a cash reward for the project team…"

"I don't agree!"

Yang Xueping immediately and aggressively interrupted Qin Jianshe. "That's not in line with company policy!"

"That money was earned through the skill and hard work of Li Tang's team. By rights, it should belong to them!"

"So now, any team that earns money from outside projects should get to divide the proceeds among themselves?"

"This case is different!"

"What's different about it? If you set this kind of precedent, every project team will expect to split their earnings, and then how will the company operate? What about departments like HR, Finance, and Logistics—how will their work be accounted for when calculating bonuses?"

"You're mixing concepts!"

"I'm sounding the alarm—this company doesn't belong to any single person!"

"You should take a hard look at the atmosphere in this company right now. Nobody wants to go out and do real work. Every project is dragged out as long as possible. If there's no reward, there's no motivation. And without motivation, how can the company grow and thrive?"

"Motivation isn't an excuse to divide company assets for personal gain!"

"You—really…"

Qin Jianshe had expected Yang Xueping to oppose him. She always did.

Seeing the clash between his two deputies, Zhou Tianqi sat like a meditating monk, observing quietly for a long while before finally speaking up. "President Qin discussed the reward system with me previously. I support this kind of reform. Since Li Tang's team achieved significant results, they should be rewarded. Let's implement this new bonus policy starting with him. We need to inspire our staff!"

Hearing this, Yang Xueping's expression turned stiff with displeasure.

To balance her mood, Zhou Tianqi added after a pause, "However, I think 100,000 is too much. That number is excessive."

Qin Jianshe, knowing he had already achieved his main goal, didn't argue further. "I'll leave the final amount to your discretion."

"10,000 yuan," Zhou Tianqi said.

That was already more than a regular employee's annual salary—not a small amount.

Qin Jianshe had fought hard to secure this reward, and it would be the first official project bonus issued by the company.

He took the cash and, accompanied by Liu Kaisheng, walked into the Resource Evaluation Department's office.

Clap clap clap!

Liu Kaisheng clapped his hands loudly in the noisy office and announced, "Gather around, everyone. I've got a few announcements. First, since Hu Yangyu has requested to switch groups, he will return to Team One."

Everyone had seen this coming. They gave Hu Yangyu a glance but weren't particularly surprised.

"Second, in the Demen Copper Mine project, Team Six performed outstandingly. In particular, their team leader Li Tang proposed bioleaching metallurgy—a cutting-edge technology that's received expert acclaim. For their contribution, the Mining & Metallurgy Company awarded 300,000 yuan in cash. Our company has decided to give Team Six a cash reward of 10,000 yuan as an encouragement!"

After Liu Kaisheng finished speaking, all eyes turned toward the Team Six section of the office.

Ten thousand yuan—that was more than a year's salary!

The Demen Copper Mine project had only lasted just over a month for Team Six. They had already received a substantial fieldwork stipend, and now this bonus made everyone incredibly envious.

"Based on individual contributions: Li Tang will receive 5,000 yuan, He Runqi 3,000 yuan, and Wei Shixing 2,000 yuan. Let's give them a round of applause!"

Amid a smattering of applause tinged with jealousy, Liu Kaisheng turned to Qin Jianshe and said with a smile, "President Qin, why don't you present the awards?"

The three members of Team Six stepped forward one by one to accept their envelopes stuffed with cash and bright red award certificates.

Photos were taken, the ceremony recorded in the internal newsletter, and copies distributed to offices across the Group. Senior leadership loved reading the newsletter—it helped them stay in touch with the company's activities.

After the awards were given out, Qin Jianshe cleared his throat and raised his voice. "I want to take this opportunity to announce a new company policy: Starting today, any completed project that meets its objectives will qualify for a team cash bonus. Small projects will receive up to 5,000 yuan, medium projects between 5,000 and 10,000, large projects between 10,000 and 50,000, and extra-large projects will have their bonus determined by senior leadership."

Whoa—

The office erupted in excitement. Everyone was earning just 700 to 800 yuan a month, barely enough to support a family. Who wouldn't want more income?

Even if a small project took two or three months and earned a bonus of a few thousand, each team member would receive a meaningful raise!

And this wasn't just empty talk—the cash bonuses for Li Tang and his team had just been handed out, real money, thick stacks.

People whispered among themselves, and the energy in the room was electric. Gone were the dull, lifeless expressions—now, excitement and anticipation lit up their faces.

Qin Jianshe was pleased. Once everyone had quieted down, he continued, "It's the end of the year. Each team needs to wrap up their annual reports. Show us what you've accomplished. As for next year's work, the upper management has issued assignments—review them carefully and start planning your team's tasks for the coming year."

"One more thing!" he said, even louder this time. "Aside from assigned tasks, any team with a promising idea or new project proposal is encouraged to include it in their year-end report!"

With that, he formally ended the meeting.
