Rebirth in the beast world

Chapter 14: CHAPTER -13 : CURTIS

Who guessed it right? Hm? No cheating, okay!

So, what do you think about our female lead? Would she actually listen to what Harvey told her?

LOL! Never! Hehe!

Siri has a knack for doing exactly what she's told not to do, and now she has a valid excuse to act on her own whims—finding Curtis. She vividly recalled the part of the plot where Bai first met Curtis. All she had to do was follow the mossy area.

The valley she entered only received sunlight at noon, so the temperature was noticeably cooler than outside. As she exited the valley, the heat began to catch up with her. Quickly seeking shade, she noticed an abundance of edible moss growing near the trees.

In the cooler spots, the moss thrived even more luxuriantly. Feeling thrilled, Siri picked a tender piece, peeled the green-red skin, and tasted its refreshing flavor.

As she ate, she remembered the key part of the plot—she needed to bend down while walking along the mossy area. Following this memory, she bent over, scanning the ground carefully... but then—

Slip!

"Ah—!"

Siri lost her footing and fell into a black cave. A damp, fishy stench filled her nostrils, cold and earthy like the depths of a long-forgotten cellar.

Despite it being the hot season outside, the cave was damp and chilly, giving her goosebumps. Raising her head, she saw specks of sunlight filtering through vines above. She realized those "vines" she'd seen earlier weren't grassland at all.

The cave was vast, its only entrance the two-meter-wide hole she'd fallen through. Outside, a lake had seeped in, leaving water pooling around her calves. The sound of her movements echoed eerily in the enclosed space.

Determined to find Curtis—or at least his shed snakeskin—she scanned the area. She called out a few times, hoping for a response, but there was nothing but silence.

Just as she was mulling over whether this was the right cave, her leg bumped into something solid. It was a rock, and lying atop it was a long, glistening snakeskin.

She reached for it, curious to touch and feel the texture described in the novel.

DING!

A character's snakeskin found!

Name: Curtis

Species: Snake Beastman (Feral)

Age: 35

Level: 4 Stripes Marked

Congratulations, Host! You've obtained your first item from a hidden chain mission. As a reward, you've been granted Night Vision. Now you can see in complete darkness. Good luck, Host!

"Huh!" Siri exclaimed, blinking as her vision adjusted to the dim light. "So now I can see in the dark... Nice! This snakeskin is exactly as the novel described."

The system chimed in: Host, you've reached this plot point earlier than Bai. Take full advantage of this opportunity. Go for it!

"Yeah, yeah, I'm going. But where am I even supposed to go? LOL, just give me flying powers already. That would make this mission so much easier!"

Furball: ...

Furball: Keep dreaming, Host. Daydream all you want, but I'm not helping you right now.

Siri: "Hey, Furball! I heard that!"

Furball: "My cute Host, just forgive me already."

Siri: "So you really said something bad about me, huh? This attitude of yours... we'll talk about this later."

Furball: (thinking) "How does she even guess so accurately? She's only at Level 0.5!"
