Rebirth in 1986: Unforgettable Regrets

Chapter 332: Begging on Their Knees (Second Update)

Tang Yue finally calmed down Zhang Hualian, and when she fell asleep, Tang Yue came out of the ward to ask Luo Wen about related matters.

Luo Wen, unsure himself, simply found a lawyer for Tang Yue to educate her on the relevant knowledge.

Now, except for Liu Hu, the injuries of the others involved were minor. Therefore, as long as Liu Hu doesn't press charges, there's still a possibility to settle the matter privately.

"Xiao Yue, if there's anything you need, just say the word. Money is not an issue; the most important thing is that everyone is okay," Mo Xiaolin said, holding Tang Yue's hand with concern.

She wanted to marry Xiao Yue sooner rather than later.

If Tang Zhengde really..., when would he be able to bring Xiao Yue home?

After sending them off, Tang Yue planned to meet Liu Hu.

"Xiao Jun." Tang Yue and Tang Jun agreed to meet Liu Hu, but Tang Jun instinctively disagreed: "Sis, you can't go alone."

"Xiao Jun, it's better if I go alone so I can talk more easily," Tang Yue seriously analyzed to Tang Jun. "I'm a girl; I'm less of a threat to others, right?"

Tang Jun fell silent, not entirely agreeing with Tang Yue's words, and said, "Sis, let me go with you, then."

"No," Tang Yue refused.

Tang Jun persisted, "I'm still a child, even less of a threat to them."

The siblings faced each other, neither willing to back down.

In the end, Tang Yue sighed helplessly, "Xiao Jun, I'll be fine on my own."

"No way," Tang Jun said firmly. "Sis, I must go with you."

"Alright then," Tang Yue finally gave in to Tang Jun's persistence.

Seeing Zhang Hualian sleeping soundly, Tang Yue quietly went upstairs with Tang Jun.

What Tang Yue and Tang Jun didn't know was that as soon as they left, Zhang Hualian quietly followed behind them.

Zhang Hualian didn't sleep well today, her heart skipping beats at the thought of Tang Zhengde possibly being sentenced.

Therefore, during the afternoon rest, Zhang Hualian was half asleep, hearing the siblings' voices though they were hushed.

"Xiao Jun, when we get there, you must not act impulsively."

Tang Yue repeatedly reminded Tang Jun, afraid that an impulsive move from him would deeply offend someone.

"Sis, don't worry. I'm not a three-year-old anymore," Tang Jun said.

Arriving in front of the ward, Tang Yue took a deep breath and knocked on the door to enter.

"Who are you?" Liu Hu was eating a large apple, with a swollen face like a pig's head, and the way he was wolfing down the apple left much to be desired.

Liu Hu's face was swollen, and his already small eyes looked even smaller. When he saw Tang Yue, his squinted eyes shone brightly, and he unabashedly eyed Tang Yue up and down.

Tang Jun stepped forward, blocking Liu Hu's gaze, and bowed his head to suppress the anger in his heart, saying, "Uncle, hello, I am Tang Zhengde's son, Tang Jun."

"It's you," Liu Hu squinted at Tang Yue and asked, "Then who is she?"

Liu Hu's eyes were fixed on Tang Yue.

Tang Jun took a deep breath, and Tang Yue quickly held him back. She stepped forward and said, "Hello, I am Tang Zhengde's daughter, Tang Yue."

"Tsk tsk tsk, even prettier than your mother." Liu Hu looked closely at Tang Yue. Zhang Hualian, who had a mature charm that still lingered, was of the type that aged like a fine wine.

But Tang Yue, she was like a newly blossoming flower, her entire being radiated youthfulness.

"Uncle, we're here today to discuss my father's situation." Tang Yue's gaze landed on Liu Hu, and even though she disliked the way he looked at her, for Tang Zhengde's sake, she had to endure it. She said firmly, "My uncle should have mentioned this to you before, if you'd refrain from suing my father, we are willing to compensate you with additional money."

"I insist on suing him." Liu Hu said disdainfully as he looked at Tang Yue.

"Suing my father won't do you any good. Of course, whatever the law dictates as compensation, we will double it for you." Tang Yue said earnestly, her eyes fixated on Liu Hu's pig-like face, trying to gauge what he was thinking.

"No." Liu Hu refused without even thinking.

"US$ 50,000." Tang Yue offered a sum.

A trace of surprise flickered in Liu Hu's eyes, but then he shook his head, "No, it's not about the money."

Tang Yue pursed her lips, stopped Tang Jun who wanted to speak, and they left.

"Big sis, that guy is just dreadful and so unsatisfied." The moment they left the ward, Tang Jun said with annoyance, "What is up with his gaze? Even US$ 50,000 isn't enough for him; does he even realize how much money that is?"

Tang Jun was furious.

Tang Yue consoled him, "Xiao Jun, why bother with someone like that?"

"Let's go check out the other wards." Tang Yue said as she took Tang Jun to the neighboring ward to visit the people who were with Liu Hu.

Their injuries were minor, and compared to Liu Hu's, they were likely to be fine after a few days of rest. Tang Yue tried to persuade them not to sue Tang Zhengde, but they had no opinion of their own and just said they would follow Brother Hu's lead.

Tang Yue felt that Liu Hu's attitude was very strange. He obviously loved money, so why would he not want the US$ 50,000?

US$ 50,000 could buy two homes in the county, including the furniture and everything.

Outside the ward, a commotion arose. Tang Yue and Tang Jun walked out, puzzled, and heard people discussing. They could faintly hear crying from the neighboring ward; it sounded strangely like Zhang Hualian.

"Please, don't sue my Tang Zhengde, he didn't mean to."

"I'm kowtowing to you."

A sudden dread filled Tang Yue's heart. She hurried forward, pushing through the crowd, and there in the ward, the person kneeling in front of the bed was none other than Zhang Hualian.

"Mom." Tang Yue quickly went up to help Zhang Hualian to her feet.

"Xiao Yue, leave me be," Zhang Hualian said through tear-blurred eyes as she kowtowed to Liu Hu. "Please, I beg you, spare my Tang Zhengde."

"No, he beat me up like this, I'll make sure he goes to jail," Liu Hu said viciously.

Tang Jun hurried over, joining Tang Yue to help Zhang Hualian. Amidst the chaos, they finally pulled Zhang Hualian away. Tang Yue signaled to Tang Jun with her eyes, and Tang Jun led Zhang Hualian away. Tang Yue sighed, looked at the gathered crowd, lowered her head to wipe her eyes, and said with a choked voice, "My dear uncles and aunties, my parents run the Zhenghua Restaurant on Nanyuan Road. That time, Uncle Liu..."

"They..." Tang Yue gestured towards Liu Hu in the ward as she continued tearfully, "They came to our restaurant to eat. They might have had some financial difficulties this time and didn't pay. But my dad didn't say anything. Uncle Liu and the others were making a scene, harassing my dad, and in the end, they even laid hands on my mom."

Tang Yue lowered her head, wiping away tears, and looked around with tear-filled eyes. With the plaintive charm of a tearful beauty, she said, "As a man, my dad would definitely fight to the death to protect my mom."
