Rebirth in 1986: Unforgettable Regrets

Chapter 329: Your Dad Is in Trouble (Second Update)

With a 'click', the phone went dead.

Qin Anyu was about to explain what had happened.

"The call ended so abruptly," Qin Anyu said irritably as she continued packing. When Yueyue left, she had reminded Yueyue to ask for help if needed.

But in Jiang City, she didn't know anyone and probably couldn't help much.

Mo Siyu hung up the phone and immediately called Qi Song.

If something had happened to the Tang Family, Qi Song should be the clearest about it.

After receiving the call, Qi Song gave a detailed explanation of the situation. Mo Siyu was worried and wished he could rush back immediately. After exchanging a few words with Qi Song, he ended the call.

"Brother Mo, has the little sister-in-law come?" Yan Dong and the other two had wandered around once again. Seeing Mo Siyu's anxious demeanor, he joked.

Mo Siyu threw a set of keys to Li Wei: "Eat the food on the table."

With those words, Mo Siyu was about to ask for leave. Tang Zhengde had an accident, and Zhang Hualian fell ill; Xiao Yue must be having a hard time.

"Mo Siyu, perfect timing, I was just looking for you," the boss saw Mo Siyu and immediately assigned him a sudden task, which Mo Siyu couldn't refuse.

Mo Siyu had half-spoken his request for leave but was forcefully cut off.

Their previously shipped batch of goods had issues, and someone was injured. On the road, he was driving and handling matters, not even having time to drink water, let alone call Qi Song.

Jiang City.

As soon as Tang Yue got off the train, she and Bai Qing found a car to head back to Wangjiang County. Having rested on the train, she didn't feel tired.

By the time they hurried back to Wangjiang County, it was already past seven in the evening.

The sky was dark. As soon as Tang Yue entered the house, she ignored greeting others and didn't bother to introduce Bai Qing; she headed straight for her parents' room.

"Sister," Tang Jun's eyes were red and swollen as he looked at Tang Yue, his expression emotional.

"Xiao Jun, how is mom?" Tang Yue followed Tang Jun into the room where a lamp was lit, and Zhang Hualian was lying in bed, seemingly asleep.

"Mom." Tang Yue took three steps in two and sat down by the bed, only then clearly seeing Zhang Hualian's appearance—she had lost a lot of weight, even her eye sockets had sunk in, losing all her previous beauty, looking haggard and heartbreakingly frail.

Tang Yue's eyes immediately teared up. In that moment, it felt like she had returned to her previous life.

Back then, Zhang Hualian was even thinner than now, skin and bones, and due to the hardship of making a living, her black hair had early sprouted many white hairs.

"Mom, I'm back?" Tang Yue choked out.

Zhang Hualian struggled to open her eyes and, seeing Tang Yue, her tears flowed even more fiercely. She grabbed Tang Yue's hand, excitedly saying, "Yueyue, your dad had an accident, what are we going to do?"

Zhang Hualian's hand was burning hot. Tang Yue could clearly feel that Zhang Hualian had a fever. She hurriedly said, "Xiao Jun, go find a car, we need to take mom to the hospital."

"Sister, the car has been ready, but mom refuses to go," Tang Jun said anxiously.

These past two days, they had wanted to take Zhang Hualian to the hospital, but she refused to go anywhere, insisting on waiting for Tang Zhengde to return home.

Thus, Zhang Hualian's illness worsened as it was delayed. Doctors were called to the house, but Zhang Hualian couldn't swallow the medicine.

"I won't go, Xiao Yue, I will wait at home for your dad to come back." Zhang Hualian looked at her with tearful eyes and said, "Xiao Yue, it's all my fault, if it weren't for me, your dad wouldn't have had the accident."

"Mom, it's not your fault." Tang Yue comforted Zhang Hualian, feeling her hands trembling. Tang Yue simply embraced Zhang Hualian, soothingly patting her back like comforting a child, "Mom, let's go to the hospital and get better, we'll wait for dad to come back."

"Mom, don't worry, dad will definitely be safe and sound."

"If dad saw you like this, he would definitely blame us for not taking good care of you. Mom, please, let's go to the hospital, okay?"

"What if dad comes back and you're not in good health, how are you going to take care of dad?"

Tang Yue spoke softly and gently. Seeing Zhang Hualian no longer resisting, she signaled Tang Jun with her eyes.

Hearing her daughter's soothing voice, Zhang Hualian felt increasingly sleepy, and the unease in her heart seemed to become calmer with her comfort; by the time they reached the hospital, Zhang Hualian had fallen asleep.

Tang Yue was thinking whether to carry Zhang Hualian, when Tang Jun stepped forward and said, "Sis, let me."

Tang Jun crouched down, unknowingly having grown much taller and stronger than Tang Yue, the once young boy had now grown up.

Tang Yue carefully helped Zhang Hualian onto Tang Jun's back, with Wei Jiajia also lending a hand.

When they arrived at the hospital, after several checks, the doctor found Zhang Hualian had a high fever of 40 degrees. Any further delay could have resulted in severe brain damage, and it had turned into pneumonia as well.

By the time Zhang Hualian was settled in the hospital room, it was already half-past nine. Perhaps due to the medication, Zhang Hualian had already fallen into a deep sleep.

"Xiao Yue, I brought some food for you." After sending Wei Jiajia and Tang You'an home, Tang Mingli brought some food for Tang Yue and asked, "Is this your friend? I told her to go home to sleep but she insisted on staying here."

"Sorry, Bai Qing, I couldn't attend to you earlier," Tang Yue said apologetically.

"No problem," Bai Qing stood up.

"This is for you," Tang Mingli handed the food he brought.

Bai Qing did not hesitate, and seeing braised pork and stir-fried sauerkraut with chili, the tangy aroma made her stomach growl.

She took the food and sat down to eat.

Tang Yue had no appetite and barely managed to eat a few bites. She asked, "Bai Qing, I need to stay at the hospital with my mom today. Why don't you go stay at my place for a day? I can have Tang Jun take you home."

"No need, Xiao Yue, I'll stay here with you, I can't sleep anyway," Bai Qing casually said, eating up her meal. She had eaten quite a bit of snacks earlier but was still feeling hungry. She asked, "Xiao Yue, please find out what exactly happened to your dad?"

"This…" Tang Yue's gaze shifted towards Tang Mingli.

Tang Mingli sighed and began to explain the events of that day from start to finish.

The business at Zhenghua Restaurant was booming with many customers. That day, a few unseemly, unruly people came to eat but not only wanted a free meal but also kept finding faults, complaining that Tang Zhengde's cooking was poor.

Tang Zhengde asked several times for the payment, but they not only refused but also verbally abused him.

"Dad's temperament shouldn't make him react to verbal abuse or refusing to pay by getting physical, right?" Not to mention, responding so violently.
