Rebirth in 1986: Unforgettable Regrets

Chapter 323: Stirring Up Trouble Like a Pro (Fifth Update)

"Hey, hey, hey, what are you doing?" Lian Qingyang looked at the two dishes that were placed in front of Tang Yue and turned to Meng Yanzhi to ask, "Who are you?"

"Pfft~" Tang Yue couldn't help but laugh at Lian Qingyang's expression. Meng Yanzhi thought he was well-known in school, yet Lian Qingyang had no idea who he was.

It wasn't Lian Qingyang's fault, really. Besides gaming and computers, he had little interest in anything else.

He liked to play games, but most people were either not his match or just not to his liking. Tang Yue was the first person that Lian Qingyang found agreeable and liked to play games with.

To Lian Qingyang, Tang Yue was one of his own.

"I am Meng Yanzhi, Tang Yue's..." Meng Yanzhi was about to introduce himself.

Tang Yue sobered up and seriously interrupted him, adding, "Alumnus."

"In Jinghua University's cafeteria, everyone here is your alumnus," Lian Qingyang earnestly replied. He looked at Meng Yanzhi and appraised, "Our dishes were just fine; do you think we're beggars?"

Lian Qingyang had always been domineering in Sea City; at Jinghua University, he still carried an air of unrivaled pride. Today at the cafeteria, Lian Qingyang had claimed all the best dishes for himself.

"I got this for Xiao Yue, not for you," Meng Yanzhi retorted with a darkened face. If it wasn't for seeing him dining with Tang Yue, Meng Yanzhi would have turned hostile on the spot.

"We're not close; call me Tang Yue." Tang Yue reminded him, pushing the dishes back and saying, "We have our own dishes, thanks for the offer though."

"Aren't these your favorite?" Meng Yanzhi overlooked Tang Yue's correction. These two dishes were specially prepared by someone for her.

Before Tang Yue could reject him again, Lian Qingyang's voice rose, "He's trying to pursue you, right? He's not bad-looking, just that his gaze is improper; seems too flighty."

"Are you blind? How dare you talk about Mr. Yan like that?" Xue Zhishu slammed the table.

"You're the one who's blind, your whole family is blind!" Lian Qingyang stood up, looked down at him from a higher stance, holding the two dishes, and splashed them right onto Xue Zhishu's face, saying irritably, "Keep the good dishes for yourselves."

"Tang Yue, let's go eat outside," Lian Qingyang asked, looking at Tang Yue without feeling any hint of wrongdoing.

Tang Yue immediately agreed and followed Lian Qingyang out; she was eager to get away from Meng Yanzhi.

Xue Zhishu, covered in oily dishes, was utterly disheveled and dumbfounded.

Ever since he had been with Meng Yanzhi, nobody dared to offend him, but today, he was splashed with dishes by Lian Qingyang - a grievance he could not swallow. Xue Zhishu suddenly stood up, rolled up his sleeves, wishing he could fight Lian Qingyang right there and then.

"Zhishu." Meng Yanzhi pulled Xue Zhishu back, stood up, and smelling the scent of dishes on his body, he covered his mouth and said, "You better go back to change your clothes and take a shower."

"Mr. Meng, by doing this to me, he's disrespecting you," Xue Zhishu protested.

But, Meng Yanzhi didn't speak, and Xue Zhishu could only angrily depart to change his clothes.

This scene unfolded in the cafeteria and quickly became the talk of the place.

Lian Qingyang's action of splashing dishes on Xue Zhishu was considered suicidal by many, and everyone was waiting to see what would become of Lian Qingyang.

At that moment, Lian Qingyang was excitedly introducing Tang Yue to the good eats around the university.

"Lian Qingyang, thank you for getting me out of that situation today," Tang Yue said at the school gate. "I'll treat you to this meal today."

"Sure." Lian Qingyang happily agreed and led Tang Yue to the restaurant. As soon as they arrived, Lian Qingyang ordered several dishes. After Tang Yue looked over the selection and found it to be not too many, she added a plate of bok choy and turned to Lian Qingyang to say, "Lian Qingyang, that was Meng Yanzhi today, the one you splashed the dishes on. He's probably just a follower, but Meng Yanzhi has a very powerful background."

""

"What's so great about that," Lian Qingyang said nonchalantly, "I'm not brainless. That person is just his dog, why would he trouble me over a dog?"

Lian Qingyang looked quite proud as he reminded her, "That guy surnamed Meng doesn't seem like a good person; don't be fooled by his appearance."

"Mm-hm," Tang Yue nodded. Seeing his eager manner of reminding her made her feel especially fond and amused.

"By the way, where do you live? When can we meet up to play games again?"

"The computers in school are too bad, not fun at all for gaming."

"And there are so few games, just Solitaire. I have other games on my computer."

For the remainder of the meal, Lian Qingyang talked all about gaming.

Not only does Lian Qingyang play games, but he's also really good at them, having completed many.

Tang Yue asked, "Lian Qingyang, what made you decide to study computer science?"

"Because I have a computer," Lian Qingyang answered without a second thought.

Tang Yue fell silent. After pondering for a bit, she asked, "Have you ever thought about making your own game someday?"

"You can make your own game?" Lian Qingyang looked at Tang Yue in astonishment.

Tang Yue confidently nodded, "Of course, games are invented by people, created by human beings. If there were no people, where would the games on your computer come from?"

"That makes sense," Lian Qingyang said, his eyes shining. "Then will we learn how to make games? What did the teacher say in class today?"

As Tang Yue explained, an excited Lian Qingyang said, "When I make a game, you'll be the first one to play it."

"Okay," Tang Yue nodded, looking at Lian Qingyang, wanting to caution him to be careful of Meng Yanzhi. However, Lian Qingyang seemed unconcerned, and by the tone of his voice, he probably had a decent background. Tang Yue thought to herself, hopefully, Meng Yanzhi wouldn't trouble Lian Qingyang.

*

After changing clothes and taking more than ten showers, Xue Zhishu still felt the greasy scent of beer duck on him. The more he thought about it, the more vexed he became, feeling that today's incident couldn't just be left at that.

Meng Yanzhi had not spoken, so Xue Zhishu kept trying to persuade him.

For instance, Lian Qingyang and Tang Yue had just met.

And if they acted stealthily, who would know it was them who did it?

Therefore, that very night, Xue Zhishu, with a thug in tow, decided to ambush him.

Lian Qingyang was tall but lanky and weak-looking. The person Xue Zhishu brought was an expert in Chinese kickboxing. So, Xue Zhishu was quite certain that Lian Qingyang would be beaten black and blue.

Night.

After playing his games, Lian Qingyang got hungry and went out to a shop to buy something. As soon as he stepped out the door, he ran into the thug brought by Xue Zhishu. After being initially caught off guard, Lian Qingyang not only didn't get beaten but even turned the tables and beat the thug black and blue.

Even Xue Zhishu, who was hiding, did not escape unscathed.

Lying on the ground, howling in pain, Xue Zhishu couldn't understand how Lian Qingyang, looking so frail, could have such explosive strength.
