Reawakening: Primordial Dragon with Limitless Mana

Chapter 97: Trust

Luna was lost in confusion.

When Commander Roger appeared, it became clear that trouble had arrived. Maybe they had guessed wrong. Maybe the King truly had been waiting for the perfect moment to avenge his son's death.

But what unsettled her most wasn't the King—it was Hades.

They had more than enough time to escape. In the crowded queues, slipping away from the soldiers would've been easy. Luna knew that. Yet instead of fleeing, they now walked under guard, being led straight into the prison beneath the royal castle. And Hades… remained silent.

Her steps quickened as she leaned closer, whispering so the soldiers wouldn't overhear.

"What are we going to do now?"

Hades didn't turn, didn't even glance at her. He simply answered, calm and steady.

"Trust me."

Luna tilted her head, bewildered. Things were under control?

She couldn't sense even a flicker of anxiety from him. But how could he be calm when they were about to be thrown into prison?

*CLINK*

The heavy iron door creaked open. Roger turned to them with a smile that made Luna's skin crawl.

"Now, it's time for you two to spill every rotten scheme you've been plotting."

A chill raced down her spine at the venom in his eyes.

Hades lowered his head and stepped into the prison without hesitation. He held the door frame with one hand, waiting so Luna could enter safely beneath his arm.

She swallowed hard as she stepped inside.

The prison was suffocating. Every wall was sealed with metal, no cracks, no escape. The only opening was a narrow window at the front, letting in the faintest strip of light.

"Return to your post at the front gate," Roger ordered the jailer.

The man blinked in shock. "But sir, you'll need my help to break the terrorists." It had always been this way—the jailer was the one skilled in extracting information, while Roger rarely dirtied his own hands.

Roger placed a firm hand on the jailer's shoulder, his voice dropping into something colder.

"This is a matter of national security, soldier. I may need methods… that others would call inhumane."

The aura he released made the soldier pale instantly. With a stiff salute, the man hurried out.

Roger let out a slow breath, then stooped to step inside.

His cold, black eyes locked onto them as he swung the heavy door shut.

*THUMP*

Silence. Darkness. Only the weak flicker of candlelight lit the chamber.

Luna braced herself, mana stirring as she prepared to chant a barrier. She would protect Hades no matter what.

But then—

"E-Eh?" Her voice escaped before she could stop it.

The moment Roger moved, the two men suddenly embraced each other.

Roger had a broad smile as he patted Hades's back.

"It's been so long, I almost forgot how much my boy has grown."

Hades shared the smile and replied warmly, "Glad to see you."

The two parted, and Roger's gaze shifted toward Luna. His expression softened as he said with a gentle tone, "Sorry for frightening you earlier, Rinne."

Luna stepped forward slowly, her voice uncertain.

"What… is this? I mean, we're not actually imprisoned?"

Hades shook his head. "Earlier, Uncle Roger whispered for me to just cooperate. None of this was meant to punish us."

He trusted Roger enough to stay silent and follow his lead. If the man had staged such a scene, it could only mean someone nearby couldn't be trusted.

Roger let out a heavy sigh.

"Something happened a few days ago—that's why we had to arrange things like this."

Hades frowned as Roger continued.

"We already knew you were coming. That's why His Majesty asked me to receive you in this way."

Hades's brows rose. "The King knows as well?"

Roger nodded firmly. "Yes. But you'll hear the rest from him."

Both Hades and Luna froze at those words.

Then—

*Knock* *Knock*

Two raps sounded against the prison door.

Roger turned to them, lowering his voice. "Follow me."

Without hesitation, they obeyed.

He peeked out into the corridor first, scanning both directions, then gave them the signal to step out. Instead of heading back the way they had come, Roger led them deeper into the prison.

Luna edged closer to Hades, whispering softly.

"I know you trust him… but is this really safe?"

"Don't worry, Luna," Hades whispered back. "That man is like a father to me. And even if someone

was forcing him to act against us, I'd still find a way out. Trust me."

If things came down to it, he knew Maylie would protect them. Not like he had any attachment to this nation or realm.

That was enough. Luna held her tongue and simply walked beside him.

They soon reached the man who had knocked on the door. He placed his hand against what appeared to be a solid dead-end wall.

Suddenly, glowing runes spread across the surface, their light crawling like veins through stone.

Hades's eyes narrowed, astonished.

"Sealing magic here as well?"

Luna leaned closer to Hades and whispered, "I tried learning it once. It's really complicated, I swear." Her grandmother knew sealing magic and was quite skilled with it.

But mastering such arts required patience and long, relentless study—something Luna could never bring herself to commit to. She simply couldn't bury herself in thick books or dwell on one subject for too long.

Hades exhaled quietly. Now that he understood he could wield more than one skill, he had already decided—he would learn sealing magic, and another branch of sorcery he knew to be equally useful.

Before them, the wall shifted. A semicircular outline etched itself across the surface, glowing faintly before parting open into a hidden cave.

Roger turned toward them. His tone was calm but weighty.

"From here on, you're on your own."

Hades gave a firm nod, lacing his fingers with Luna's before stepping forward.

The cave stretched into a stairway, descending deeper into shadow. Slowly, they climbed upward, their footsteps echoing softly.

Luna's eyes darted across the walls, searching for traps. Just in case, she whispered a chant and wove a barrier around them both.

But nothing stirred. No dangers came.

At last, the staircase ended.

They emerged into a vast hall—ornate marble floors, towering pillars, and banners that shimmered under golden torchlight. They were no longer underground. They were inside the royal palace.

And waiting for them, seated with regal calm, was the King himself.

His piercing gaze met Hades's, his voice carrying both weight and warmth.

"It's nice to finally meet you, Hades."
