Reawakening: Primordial Dragon with Limitless Mana

Chapter 92: Guardian

"Hades… you're mumbling."

"Am I?" he asked as they walked through the forest.

Was he nervous? Of course, he was.

"This person is your guardian, Luna. How can I possibly stay calm?"

Luna had told him everything about her grandmother—the bond they shared, the way she had saved her life.

If Luna hadn't been pulled out of that coffin that day, not even her phoenix blood would have been enough to keep her alive.

Her grandmother hadn't just saved her—she had given her a new home, a reason to live again. She had helped Luna accept her new reality and adapt to her new life.

Back then, Luna was broken. She had just lost Hades, the only family she had. Her heart ached for him.

But her grandmother knew the truth: if Luna stepped into the world in that state, with her presence leaking out like a beacon, someone would surely hunt her down.

So she became strict. She locked Luna away and forced her to train. For years, she endured Luna's tears and begging—her desperate cries to see Hades, even just once.

Hades was her everything. Her family. Her friend. The one she adored. The one who deserved to know she was still alive.

And yet, her grandmother carried all the blame, all the curses, all the resentment, and never stopped pushing her.

Thanks to that, when Luna finally stepped out of that prison, she was strong. She could protect herself—and she could reunite with him.

"She might be strict, Hades, but she has a kind heart," Luna said softly, holding his arm. "She'll accept you right away. I know it."

Hades raised a brow. "And why do you think that?"

Luna smiled brightly. "Because she adores anyone who adores me."

His chest eased at her warmth, a small smile tugging at his lips. For a moment, his nerves calmed.

But then—

"Someone's coming," Hades muttered, instantly pulling Luna behind him.

Mana flared around him as his hand gripped the dagger he had bought only a day ago. His eyes sharpened.

But a calm voice spoke. "There's no need to be wary, young man."

A woman stepped out from between the trees. She wore a crisp white maid's uniform, her expression gentle, her smile soft.

Hades narrowed his eyes. "Such monstrous pressure… and you claim no harm?" He could feel it—she was powerful, far from ordinary. Her stance looked relaxed, but her guard was never down.

But then—

"Luna?!" Hades exclaimed as the silver-haired girl dashed past him.

"Diana!" Luna giggled, throwing her arms around the woman.

The maid embraced her tightly, and just like that, the suffocating aura faded, like a storm blown away by the wind.

Hades blinked, lowering his dagger, a little stunned. So… she was someone Luna trusted.

"My sweet girl," Diana murmured, swaying her side to side in her arms. "Look at you… all grown up in the blink of an eye."

The closeness between them was obvious.

Luna turned with a bright smile. "This is Diana. And that's Hades."

Diana chuckled. "No need to tell me. The way you were clinging to him earlier—I knew right away he was the boy you couldn't stop writing about in your letters."

Luna flushed, hiding her smile as she tugged Hades closer. "Come on."

With a sigh, Hades sheathed his dagger and took her hand. "Forgive my rudeness."

But Diana's expression turned sharp, lips thinning as she spoke. "Forgiveness not granted."

Hades froze.

Her gaze locked on him, voice cold. "For stealing my Rinne, you must be punished."

Hades's jaw dropped slightly as Diana walked ahead, leaving him behind in silence.

Luna leaned close and whispered, "Don't worry. She's harmless."

He gave a wry smile, whispering back, "I hope you're right, Luna."

They moved deeper into the forest. The air was still, quieter than it should have been. Hades noticed the lack of rustling, no beasts lurking in the undergrowth. 'Too quiet… they must clear this area often.'

Diana walked a few steps ahead, her posture calm but deliberate. Without turning, she asked, "I heard you went to Torseque?"

Luna hummed softly. "Yes. It wasn't planned at all, but… we visited the temple there. It was fun."

Her words trailed, and her eyes flickered toward Hades. That little glance said more than her words. She wasn't willing to share what really happened.

Hades caught it and stayed quiet. 'Samarella…' That matter wasn't for open ears.

Diana's voice cut through the silence again. "And how long are you staying here… in the human realm?"

Both Luna and Hades froze.

"You… know we're leaving?" Luna blurted, her voice sharp with surprise.

Though Diana's face was turned away, Hades felt the curve of a smirk hidden there. "A dragon's presence carries far. I could sense him from miles away. If such a thing has been noticed, surely you won't remain here much longer." She glanced back over her shoulder. Her eyes, sharp yet playful, settled on Hades. "...Will you?"

Hades exhaled, resigned. "Seven days." There was no point in lying. He would be telling Luna's grandmother soon enough.

"Thought so," Diana murmured.

She slowed her pace, finally stopping before a towering tree whose roots coiled like great serpents around the earth. Its bark was dark, scarred, ancient.

Hades frowned, but Luna tugged his hand gently, pulling him closer.

Diana pressed her palm against the trunk. A low hum filled the air, and glowing runes spread out beneath her touch, carving themselves across the bark like rivers of light.

Hades's eyes widened. 'Sealing magic… one of the hardest branches to master.'

The trunk groaned, wood creaking as if the tree itself breathed. Then, with a deep rumble, the massive bark split apart, parting down the middle to reveal a wide, hollow passage hidden within.

"Come on," Luna pulled him inside.

They stood within the tree and suddenly, the floor began to shift. It felt they were descending.

Light streamed along the walls of the trunk, glowing patterns guiding their descent. The air grew cooler, fresher, filled with a faint fragrance of blooming flowers.

"Woah…" Hades breathed as the floor came to a stop. His eyes widened.

Spread out before him was not darkness, but an entire hidden world.

They had stepped into a vast underground expanse bathed in warm, golden light that seemed to come from nowhere yet everywhere.

Rolling fields of emerald grass stretched out, dotted with colorful blossoms that swayed in a breeze he couldn't explain. Crystal-clear streams cut through the land, their waters catching the light like liquid silver.

And in the center of all that beauty stood a mansion.

It was enormous, yet graceful—white stone walls entwined with ivy, its tall spires gleaming faintly under the glow. Balconies curled outward like flower petals, and arching bridges stretched over the streams, connecting the house to gardens filled with roses, lilies, and flowers Hades had never seen before.

Hades felt his chest loosen. For a moment, he forgot his nerves. This place didn't feel like a prison or a fortress. It felt alive, like a sanctuary hidden beneath the world above.

Luna smiled at his reaction as she said, "Let me show you where I grew up."
