Reality Quest: Lookism

Chapter 19: Chapter 18: Representative

The glasses-wearing organizer quickly restored the podium, clearing his throat as he tapped the small hammer for attention. "Since there are now three candidates, we'll proceed with that." he announced, his tone steady.

At his words, the thugs in the room moved swiftly, folding their chairs and pushing them against the walls. The center of the room was left wide open, creating an impromptu arena.

Kang Se-Hoon's glare was sharp as he locked eyes with Jin. The tension in the room thickened as the two walked toward the middle. Jin cracked his knuckles nonchalantly, looking almost bored. "Representative this, representative that..." Jin muttered, his voice dripping with indifference. "I don't care about any of it. I'm just here to fight."

The two stopped in front of each other, and Jin tilted his head upward to meet Se-Hoon's eyes. The height difference was noticeable, but Jin's grin was as cocky as ever.

Ha Dowan, meanwhile, hesitated at the edge of the makeshift ring. Siyeon had just finished explaining why he needed to win. Her calm yet cutting words had convinced him that he had to step up.

But as Dowan took tentative steps toward the other two, his hesitation was painfully obvious. The crowd's whispers were far from kind.

"Does he even know where he is?"

"That guy looks like he's about to cry."

"He won't last a second against Se-Hoon or that other guy."

The murmurs stung, but Dowan clenched his fists. He told himself this was his chance to prove he wasn't just a coward. Summoning his courage, he sprinted forward.

His body moved on instinct, leaping high into the air as his feet began to glow faintly blue, a sign of his Falcon Drop skill activating. Twisting mid-air, he brought his heel down with a powerful kick aimed squarely at Se-Hoon.

BAAM!

Se-Hoon raised his forearm in a flawless block, absorbing the attack without so much as a stagger. His expression was unimpressed, his stance unmoved.

Dowan's eyes widened in disbelief. "What...how did he...?"

Before he could finish his thought, a foot slammed into his face, sending him flying across the room.

"Stay down, kid." Jin said, his voice sharp and impatient. "You're too weak for this."

Dowan's body hit the floor with a thud, skidding to a stop several feet away. The crowd erupted into laughter and mockery, but Jin didn't spare him a second glance.

Kang Se-Hoon didn't waste the moment. With a growl, he lunged at Jin, his fist cocked back and aimed at Jin's head.

But Jin wasn't even looking at him. His hands were still in his pockets, his posture casual as he turned slightly to glance at Dowan.

Se-Hoon's punch closed the distance, but just as it was about to connect, something strange happened.

CRACK!

Se-Hoon's head snapped backward, his chin bruising instantly as if he'd been uppercut by an invisible force. Stumbling back, he blinked in confusion, clutching his jaw.

"What the hell just happened?" Se-Hoon muttered, his instincts flaring.

The crowd was just as baffled.

"Did Jin hit him?"

"I didn't see anything!"

"How the hell is he hurt?"

Jin slowly turned his head, his expression unreadable. His hands remained firmly in his pockets.

"Are we done playing games?" Jin asked, his tone calm but condescending.

Se-Hoon's eyes narrowed. "You're fast..."

But Jin didn't respond. Instead, he tilted his head slightly, the corner of his lips twitching into a smirk.

Se-Hoon charged again, his fists flying in rapid succession. Each punch was calculated, aiming to overwhelm Jin with sheer force and precision.

But Jin moved like a shadow, weaving through every attack with almost inhuman speed.

The crowd could barely keep up with his movements, their eyes darting frantically as Jin swayed and ducked with effortless grace.

Se-Hoon's frustration grew. He threw a feint to Jin's left before twisting into a powerful roundhouse kick aimed at Jin's ribs.

But Jin bent backward, his body arching gracefully to avoid the strike. Without missing a beat, he retaliated.

BAM!

Se-Hoon staggered as Jin's foot connected with his ribs. The force of the blow sent a ripple of pain through his torso, but he refused to go down.

Se-Hoon growled, his pride stung. "You think you're hot shit, don't you?"

"Not really." Jin replied nonchalantly, stepping forward. "I just know you're too slow to hit me."

Se-Hoon roared, throwing another barrage of punches, each one faster and more aggressive than the last.

But Jin's reaction speed was good. He dodged or deflected with his feet every attack with precision, his movements so smooth they almost seemed rehearsed.

'He's fast...too fast.' Se-Hoon thought, his frustration mounting. 'But he has to slip up eventually.'

Jin, on the other hand, was enjoying himself. He could see every move Se-Hoon made before it even happened. His reflexes were sharp, his instincts honed.

Finally, Jin decided to end it. As Se-Hoon lunged forward with a wild punch, Jin stepped into his range.

BAM!

Jin's knee slammed into Se-Hoon's stomach, lifting the larger boy off the ground. Se-Hoon gasped for air, his body folding slightly before collapsing towards the ground.

But Jin wasn't done.

He stepped back, giving himself just enough space before twisting his body into a Talon Back Kick.

WHAM!

The kick connected with Se-Hoon's abdomen, sending him flying into the air. The crowd gasped as Se-Hoon's body seemed to hover for a split second.

And then, Jin raised his leg high into the air.

CRASH!

His axe kick came down on Se-Hoon's head like a sledgehammer, slamming him into the ground with enough force to create a small crater.

The room fell silent.

Se-Hoon lay motionless, his body sprawled in the center of the ring. Jin stood over him, his hands finally leaving his pockets as he adjusted his jacket.

"That was fun." Jin said, his grin wide and unapologetic.

The crowd erupted into murmurs, their disbelief evident.

"He didn't get hit...not even once."

"Se-Hoon couldn't touch him!"

"Who the hell is this guy?"

Jin turned his gaze to Dowan, who was still sitting on the floor, wide-eyed and trembling.

"See?" Jin said, pointing a thumb at Se-Hoon's unconscious body. "That's how you win a fight."

Without sparing another glance at his defeated opponent, Jin turned and walked toward the elevator. The thugs pressed against the walls, their earlier bravado replaced by stunned silence.

He stopped briefly in front of Siyeon with his hands still into his pockets.

"I'm done for today." he said simply, locking eyes with her for a moment before stepping into the elevator.

Siyeon remained silent, her expression unreadable as she watched the doors close.

Dowan hesitantly approached her once Jin left, his shoulders tense and his voice shaky. "S-So… what happens now?" he asked, his earlier determination dwindling.

Siyeon sighed deeply, crossing her arms as she looked down at Se Hoon's unconscious form sprawled on the ground. "Since Jin doesn't want to join the gang, he'll become a target." she said bluntly. Her tone carried a note of resignation. "The council will hunt him down. All 497 members."

Dowan paled, his hands trembling slightly. "A-A target? But why?"

"Because he doesn't follow their rules." Siyeon replied, turning her cold gaze to Dowan. "And you…" She trailed off, clearly reluctant to continue.

"M-Me?"

Siyeon exhaled sharply. "Since you're the only one still conscious, you'll become the representative of Boramae-dong."

As if on cue, the glasses-wearing councilman stepped forward, tapping his gavel on the podium to regain everyone's attention. "It is hereby decided." he announced with a practiced authority. "Ha Dowan is the new representative of Boramae-dong."

The declaration sent a wave of murmurs through the remaining crowd. Dowan's eyes widened in disbelief as he stumbled back slightly, overwhelmed by the sudden responsibility thrust upon him.

....

At the far end of the room, a man with grey hair leaned back in his chair, he ignored the chaos while he tapped on his phone, his eyes glued on the screen before he finally glanced at Se Hoon's unconscious body.

"Jin…" he murmured under his breath.
