Reality Breaker: Edge of Reality

Chapter 37 : Duel of Warriors

Cale grinned slightly and shouted loudly at their Chief. "I challenge you to a duel!"

The Chief glared fiercely at him, standing up and grabbing his large axe. He stepped down from his stone throne and approached Cale until they were face to face. The Orc roared, "ACCEPT. ACCEPT!" and the other Orcs began chanting, "ACCEPT. ACCEPT!"

'How foolish,' thought Cale, watching the Orc Chief like prey as he examined the Chief’s information.

As Cale stared at the towering red Orc Chief, Devan, he noted the information provided by the system. The Orc's pride in his strength would be his downfall. Cale's dark aura swirled around him as he confidently stepped forward, his shirtless strong body now glistening under the dim light of the chamber.

The Orcs around them roared in anticipation, banging their axes on the ground in rhythm. The tension in the room grew palpable as the duel between warriors was about to begin.

Devan gripped his large axe tightly and bared his teeth, snarling at Cale. His muscles flexed, showing off his warrior pride, and he took a battle stance.

Cale, however, didn’t need to flaunt his strength. He knew the advantage he held. His calm expression remained as he analyzed Devan's weaknesses. He had already decided to finish this quickly.

With a grin. The dark energy enveloping his body for tighter, his gauntlets reforming around his hands, and his eyes glowed faintly with power. "Come, Orc Chief. Show me your strength."

Devan wasted no time and charged at Cale with incredible speed for his size.Devan’s massive form barreled toward Cale, the ground trembling under his heavy steps. The Orc Chief’s axe glowed with a faint red hue as he activated his Axe Mastery skill, lifting the weapon high above his head, aiming to cleave Cale in two with a single, powerful strike.

Cale remained in place, calm and collected, watching Devan’s every move. He had already anticipated the attack, his dark aura swirling around him like a cloak of shadows. As Devan’s axe came down with brutal force, Cale sidestepped at the last possible second, the blade whistling through the air where his head had been a moment before.

Devan growled in frustration, swinging his axe in a wide arc, but Cale was too fast. His movements were fluid, his body weaving through the attacks with precision. Each time Devan swung, Cale dodged effortlessly, his mocking grin never leaving his face.

"Is this all the mighty Orc Chief has to offer?" Cale taunted, his voice calm but laced with condescension.

Devan roared in fury, the veins in his neck bulging as he entered his Madness state. His eyes turned bloodshot, and his muscles bulged even more, making him look like an unstoppable juggernaut. The other Orcs began to chant louder, “DEVAN! DEVAN!”

But Cale wasn’t intimidated. In fact, he welcomed the challenge. With the Chief now in his Madness state, Cale knew Devan would rely on brute strength alone, making his movements even more predictable.

Devan swung his axe down once again, but this time Cale didn’t dodge. Instead, he raised his gauntlet-covered hand and caught the axe blade mid-swing, the force of the impact sending a shockwave through the ground. The Orc Chief’s eyes widened in disbelief, unable to comprehend how this human had stopped his attack so easily.

Cale’s grin widened. "I warned you, didn’t I?" With a sharp twist of his wrist, he shattered the blade of Devan’s axe, sending fragments of metal flying in all directions.

Before Devan could react, Cale's fist shot forward, powered by the dark energy flowing through him, and connected squarely with the Chief’s ribs. The sound of bones cracking echoed through the chamber as Devan staggered back, clutching his side in pain.

But Cale wasn’t finished. He pressed the advantage, darting forward with speed that seemed unnatural. His fists, still covered in the dark gauntlets, struck with deadly precision—first a blow to Devan’s knee, causing the massive orc to buckle, then an uppercut to his jaw, sending him reeling.

The Orc Chief roared in frustration and pain, trying to fight back, but Cale was relentless. Every strike hit a critical point—joints, ribs, neck, eyes—exploiting every weakness the system had shown him. Devan’s body, once seemingly incredible, was crumbling under Cale’s assault.

Finally, with one last devastating punch, Cale struck Devan in the heart. The Orc Chief’s body seized up, his eyes wide with shock, before his knees collapsed to the ground with a heavy thud.

The Orc Chief looked at Cale not with hatred or anger but as if the warrior he had been waiting for all his life was finally here to give him an honorable death. He had no regrets now.

Cale did not care about pride or honor. He only used this duel of pride and honor to defeat the Chief easily. If he hadn't used the duel, who knows what would have happened to Cale?

Cale formed a dark and white blade once again and cleanly cut off the Orc Chief's head. The other Orcs thought the Chief had died with honor.

The chamber fell into stunned silence. The once-boisterous Orcs, who had been chanting their Chief’s name, now stood in disbelief, watching as their leader lay motionless at Cale’s feet.

Cale looked down at Devan’s lifeless body, the dark energy around him slowly fading. He turned to face the remaining Orcs, he spoke in a cold tone. "Your Chief is dead. Who’s next?" he asked, his voice cutting through the silence like a blade.

The Orcs saw their leader fall, but instead of mourning, they shouted loudly. One of them stepped forward to challenge Cale to a duel.

'HAHAHAHAHA!' he laughed loudly in his mind, though his face remained emotionless as he smiled at them. 'Foolish creatures, crazy for honor.' Cale formed his black and white blade once again.
