Chapter 10: chapter 9: Dark night?
Kairos also retreated jumping back. And gazed at the person that had attacked him. The figure surrounded by shadows.
Seeing that his senses flared up even more. " Shadow element" Kairos thought, the most tricky element to fight with.
Kairos started taking steps back as he started calculating his moves. Conclusion?. He gotta escape!..
"I couldn't sense him...he revealed himself on his own" realizing that Kairos was more sure he wasn't a match of such monster.
He gotta escape. Or survive long enough before her mother comes to rescue him.
The figure also started taking steps forward as he retreated.
"He nullified the talismans sheilds. I can't notify others" Kairos cursed as he slowly started realizing what the situation he was in.
"Is it a assassin?. Did I still revealed too much?" Kairos mind raced rapidly. As he slowly started channeling his aura back and forth increasing his senses.
Meanwhile,
"Hm not bad. That strick was almost perfect" The figure thought and started gauging how much strength he should use against someone who doesn't have a soul gear nor has awakened element.
The shadowed figure took another slow, deliberate step forward, the air around them seeming to distort with dark energy.
The faint red glow of Kairos' aura flared as he braced himself, his sword held firmly in front of him.
His opponent had deployed his Aura Field!
Kairos barely had time to react as the figure's sleeve ignited in black flames, burning away to reveal rows upon rows of black chains that surged out like a torrent and lunged forward.
Kairos lost his composure for a split second as he looked at those familiar black chains.
The figure's hand moved with fluid grace, directing the chains in a sweeping arc as the length of the chains continually grew.
Kairos, still shaken by the sight of the chains, came back to his senses just as they were about to reach him.
Kairos bit his teeth and channeled all of his aura into his feet, retreating backwards and missing the black chains by an inch.
Launching himself backward and stabilizing himself pressing down his sword leaving a small faint trail of red aura as it dragged against the stone floor, Uprooting some of the stone plats .
He looked up his eyes flared up. As he channeled everything he has. Consuming his blood slowly and muttered.
" Dark knight"
Hearing the words, The figure also stopped on his tracks. And gazed upon the boy. And was shocked and amazed at the same time seeing this boy knows his identity.
None of them moved, both in deep thought.
Kairos's mind raced, piecing together fragments of the past. The figure standing before him wasn't just any shadow user—he was the Dark Knight, a living legend from Kairos's past.
The maniac who destroyed three Dark Magicians' platoons single-handedly. The maniac so obsessed with strength that he almost ended up betraying the human side.
Kairos clenched his sword tighter, trying to steady his breath. His heart pounded. In this moment, Kairos couldn't be sure which version of the man stood before him.
Why is he here? Did he already lose his family? Or did it not happen yet?
In his past life, he had the chance to meet him once when he came to challenge him to a duel. The outcome was a loss in every possible aspect.
"Hm, interesting. You know me? I thought I surpassed those informations," he spoke, waving his hands as the chains retreated. A few magical sigils appeared on them for a split second before the chains transformed into swords devoid of any distinguishing features, completely black like obsidian.
In that instant, the aura surroundings him increased forcing Kairos to tighten his grip on his sword and prepare for what was to come.
Just as Kairos adjusted his stance, a blinding surge of energy erupted from the Dark Knight, and he vanished into a cloud of darkness, leaving behind an echo of laughter that sent chills down Kairos's spine.
Without warning, the Dark Knight reappeared above him, descending like a ravenous predator as a evil smile appeared on that darknened mask.
Aiming straight for Kairos's heart. Time seemed to slow as Kairos's instincts kicked in, his body moving before his mind could catch up.
With a swift motion, he raised his sword to block the incoming attack, the impact reverberating through him like a shockwave. But his aura wiststood it all.
Bang!
The clash of their weapons sent a burst of energy surging through the air, the force of the blow causing a shockwave that rattled the ground beneath them. Kairos staggered back, his feet digging into the earth as he fought to maintain his balance against the overwhelming force of the Dark Knight's strike.
"Impressive reflexes!" the Dark Knight taunted, his voice echoing through the chaos. "But reflexes alone won't save you!"
Then again he disappeared in dark shadows. And after images started appearing from here to there.
" Be on guard. I will start!"
With a loud shout. Dark knight appeared right Infront of him slashing his swords right at his neck as magical sigils contiuned to hover beside him on his aura Field.
Bang!
Their sword collided once again. This time the impact was more stronger.
Kairos grited his teeths realizing he have to use everything he has. As his oponent just started using enchantments of 1st circle.
" Haha, good. Now let's see how you do against apsoulate speed"
Kairos barely had time to process the change before the Dark Knight was upon him again, a blur image of him. Their swords clashed repeatedly, the sound ringing out
With every impact, Kairos felt the Vibration travel through his body. Even threatening to collapse the golems aura nodes that was stabilizing his body from such vibrations.
Small cuts began to pepper his skin, thin lines of red marking where the Dark Knight's sword had nearly found its mark. Kairos's breathing became ragged; he was losing the battle of attrition.
"Too slow!" the Dark Knight taunted.
Kairos could only grit and wistand em all and slowly cumulating Aura back and forth within the knots all over his boddies.
His vision also started getting darker, giving him a deadly reminder. His opponent was using sigils at the same time, most probably the "Avatar sigil" of the 4th circle, which affects the surroundings depending on the imbued element.
Each time their swords met, Kairos felt his resolve wane slightly, the cracks in his Amadan steel sword deepening with each parry. He had to end it soon or injure his opponent enough to gain a few seconds of delay so that he could escape.
Meanwhile,
"Really interesting. This kid has already surpassed Alvaz in terms of reaction speed," the Dark Knight thought as he slowly controlled his strength to avoid serious harm.
"Why does his aura continue to increase? Is his potential simultaneously growing?"
The answer was that he didn't know. He hadn't seen such a thing or technique in his entire life. He had seen it before—him training and destroying arrows with a sudden burst of aura.
"The library doesn't have such a technique. Did that old bastard magician teach him? I see... That must be the case."
Bang! Bang!
"His sword won't last long. I think I should stop," he initially thought, but he couldn't look away from those eyes.
The eyes that were predicting and calculating everything. He knew those eyes very well from when he destroyed his enemies, completely wiping out a noble family.
"A hidden card. I see, I see. I want to see it!"
