Re: In My Bloody Hit Novel

Chapter 711: Lady Selene Joins The Hunt

...The figure standing soaked in blood, clutching the severed head of the chief priest, was none other than Chiron.

The moment he appeared, the moment that sacred blood touched his skin, a deep, thunderous rumble echoed across the island. It wasn't coming from a single direction—it was everywhere and nowhere all at once. The sound rolled through the sky like a forgotten god groaning awake. It was deafening, ancient, and overwhelming.

Then came the lightning.

Bolts of divine thunder rained down from the heavens, crashing into the jungle, the cliffs, and the ruins scattered across the island. One even struck directly where Chiron stood. But as the sacred light descended, Chiron brought his hands together and whispered calmly, "Blood Shield."

Scarlet mist burst from his body, swirling around him like a living veil. The blood hardened, deflecting the lightning in a sizzling burst of energy. The strike that should have disintegrated any man barely made him flinch.

Elsewhere, where the bolts had landed, figures began to emerge. Nine in total. Each one wore armor of radiant gold, engraved with glowing divine sigils. Their weapons shimmered with holy light, and from each of them came an overwhelming pressure—like standing beneath the weight of a collapsing sky.

They were Gold-Rank Knights of the Holy Church.

One such knight alone was enough to bury a mountain or crush an entire army. But nine? That was overkill.

And leading them was a woman whose presence could silence even the winds.

She wore a massive feathery coat, layered as if to fight off the cold, though her demeanor radiated nothing but control and quiet violence. Her black hair was neatly tied back, and her face—smooth, elegant, but utterly cold—was impossible to ignore. Her piercing eyes held no warmth, only a calculating frost.

This was Lady Selene von Temperance.

Standing beside her was a young man clad in custom red-trimmed armor, sharp-eyed and sharp-tongued, with short silver hair and a constant smirk dancing on his lips. His black eyes gleamed with anticipation.

Cassian von Temperance—her son, and Brandon's cousin.

He turned to his mother with that ever-present smirk. "You see, Mother? I told you. Using Brandon to draw out the heretic, Chiron was the best move we could make."

The words hit harder than any blade.

Rihanna's expression tightened in shock. Even she hadn't expected this.

But it was Brandon who felt the betrayal most. The spiritual energy of Selene's now flooding the island loosened the paralysis on his body. Slowly, painfully, he managed to move. His eyes locked onto the two figures before him—his own blood—and his voice trembled as he called out.

"Aunty…? Cassian?"

Selene didn't respond. Her eyes flicked to him with a look of pure disdain. To her, Brandon was nothing more than a stain on the Temperance bloodline—a product of a disgraceful union with elemental energy. He wasn't a member of the core family. He was a pawn. A tool. A disposable lure.

Of course to the outside world, he was mostly never treated in such manner. After all, family secrets and disgrace should be kept hidden always.

But now, it was different.

Now, clearly, his usefulness had run its course.

Selene's voice rang out, cold and sharp like a guillotine.

"Come quietly, Chiron," she said, eyes locked onto him like a predator. "Or I swear—I'll drag you back piece by piece, starting with the tips of your severed limbs."

The air tensed. Even the lightning above seemed to pause, waiting.

But Chiron didn't flinch. He tilted his head slightly, his blood-slicked hair brushing against his face as he gazed at her with quiet amusement. Inside his mind, memories stirred—intel, whispers, and stories.

Selene von Temperance.

A name wrapped in elegance but forged in brutality. Despite her graceful looks and icy composure, she was a savage in battle, feared across continents. She was known as The Silken Executioner, a nickname earned from her ability to slaughter enemies with terrifying finesse while barely staining her pristine garments.

Chiron would be lying if he said he wasn't interested in testing his strength against hers.

But not today.

"You're still suckling that bastard son of yours on milk," Chiron said with a smirk, "yet you don't even know the name of the man who fathered him on the battlefield after you passed out cold."

The words hit like a hammer.

Gasps echoed across the battlefield. Even Rihanna blinked in surprise.

Selene's eyes widened, just a flicker—but enough to betray her shock. Cassian, who stood beside her, looked up in confusion. "Mother?" he asked, his voice laced with uncertainty.

This… was a family secret. Buried. Untouchable. Not even Cassian knew.

Chiron chuckled softly, his smile widening as he leaned forward, taunting. "Would you like to know who the father is, Lady Selene? I promise… once you hear the name, you'll realize Brandon isn't the only trash polluting the Temperance bloodline."

Selene's glare sharpened into rage.

Her spirit energy surged like a tempest, weaving itself into the sky. From above, a bolt of divine lightning twisted with her fury and slammed into Chiron's chest with a thunderous boom.

His body exploded into splinters and smoke.

But as the smoke cleared, it was revealed—not Chiron, but a puppet made of polished wood and dried blood, now smoldering where he had stood.

Chiron had used a puppet from the Fate change system.

A voice came from the shadows.

"Now that's not very welcoming," Chiron teased, stepping out from behind a mossy pillar, completely untouched, his cloak flowing lightly behind him. "You didn't even let me finish my joke."

Selene's jaw tightened. She was done playing games.

Without a word, she lifted her hand.

At once, the nine Gold-Rank Knights began to move.

The air trembled.

The hunt had begun.
