Roswal Mansion-Ayanokoji POV

I had died 50, 00 times. I had tried every method but I couldn't break out of this cycle. Then I decided.

Koji- I'm going to save Emilia even if everyone else in her Camp dies.

Koji walked over to Ram and Rem explaining about the spy.

Koji: I'm sorry about this byut we need to prioritize Emilia. She's the royal selection candidate so we have to make sure she gets out. It's our duty.

Ram: Agreed.

Rem: Of course.

Koji: The White Whale has surrounded us so the only way out is the front gates. I want you to act as a diversion.

Ram: Take Rem with you and I'll agree to it.

Rem: Wait sister no.

I knocked out Rem.

Koji: I'll get Emilia ready. Do not inform her of the plan. She'll never agree to it.

Ram: Okay.

We got Emilia into a carriage and I was able to knock her out the same as Rem and we set off into through the gate as Ram and the villagers distracted the Cultists allowing us to escape. We eventually arrived at the capital.

Koji: We made it to the capital.

Emilia: Where are the others?

Koji: They...

Rem woke up as she rushed towards me choking me.

Emilia: What are you doing rzem!?

Emilia tried prying Rem's hands off of me.

Rem: You barstard! You should have left me there to die with my sister! I didn't want this!

Rem slowly fell to her knees crying. Emilia looked to me.

Emilia: Kiyotaka. What did she mean by that?

Koji: They're dead. Everyone in Irlam Village and Ram.

Emilia: What?

Koji: A Sin Archbishop attacked. There was no choice.

Emilia: Why? We could have fought them!

Koji: False. We would have ended up dying.

Emilia: You don't know that!

I glared at ther.

Koji: I know that better than anyone. I know what the Witch Cult is capable of and I know for certain there was no breathing them under such conditions.

Emilia backed off a little.

Koji: We'll just start again.

Emilia: No... I don't want to anymore. I'm done. I've lost. How could I be the ruler if I can't even protect a few villagers?

Koji: That was unforeseen and unpreventable. It's not your fault.

Emilia: No it's not... but it's yours! Why Why did you save me Kiyotaka?

Koji- I knew this would happen. So why? Why did I save her? I could have left her there. Do I love her...?

Koji: Because I love you. I don't want you to die.

Next Day

We had woken up but it seemed like Emila and Rem hadn't been able to sleep. I didn't blame them. Roswal arrived.

Roswal: Kiyotaka. I think you know what you should do right now.

His face. It was as if he had gotten what he had wanted but in the worst way imaginable.

Koji- So he knows about my ability.

Koji: I'll have to refuse on that.

Roswal: I could always force you.

He created mana orbs in his hands looking at me fiercely.

Koji: Is that so? Then I'd be happy to repeat this over and over until I have the freedom to decide for myself. Roswal realising it was pointless rested his hands. His face seemed sad.

Koji- He really cared for Ram.

10 Years later

The Emilia Camp had taken a hard blow but thanks the fact that Emilia was already rock bottom in terms of support it didn't do as much harm as expected. Me and Roswal were able to eventually raise her reputation.

Emilia: Why are you still doing this? I've lost the will to become Queen.

Koji: Because I love you. I know this is your dream. Letting you give up on it isn't something I'm willing to do.

Emilia: I don't understand you.

I made my best of the situation eventually I was able to hunt down most of the in Archbishops. The only one remaining was Betelgeuse Romani Conti. But even now with 10 years of Swordsmanshiip training and Mana training I was still unable to find a loophole to his ability. I died over and over and over and over and over again. I really was going crazy this time. I had died 1 million times to that bastard. The only thing that centered me was Emilia.

Emilia: I don't love you. I can't. You Sacrificed Ram and the villagers. I just can't love you.

She left the room. My mental state was already in shambles but now it was really broken. My hair turned white. Roswal entered.

Roswal: What is going on with you? Have you finally gone insane like me?

Koji: Yes.

Roswal: What are you planning?

Koji: I'm going to kill the Sword Saint.

I left the room.

I met with Reinhard.

Koji: Everyone can be killed. There's always a way.

I had fine turned my physical training and mana training to an imense degree that if it were not for his Divine Protections it would be fair to call us equals. 10 year of gard, grueling training though I had expected to use it by his side as a knight, not against him.

Koji- No matter how long it takes. No matter what I must sacrifice I will keep Emilia safe from the madman who wants to resurrect the With Of Envy.

I fought and was defeated. I stabbed myself.

I died 100, 000 times but I discovered his weakness. Od Lugunica protects him by assessing the intent of his opponent so if his opponent doesn't intend to slash Reinhard then it can't protect him. Relfexive attacks.

I engaged in an exchange of blows. I taned several from Reinhard not even feeling the pain anymore and without intent I swiftly cut off his head. If I had done anything less lethat Od Lugunica would have healed him and never let such a tactic work again. It's powers transferred to me and it protected me from possession allowing me to kill Betelguese. I then returned to the Emilia camp as Emilia struck me.

Emilia: You monster! You killed Reinhard!

Koji: It was necessary.

Emilia: Why!!!!

Koji: To protect you.

Emilia: I never asked you to do that! Why are you doing this!?

Koji: Becasue I love you.

Emilia: What?

Koji: Aishiteru. Aishiteru. Aishiteru.

I cried as I said this. Emilia simply looked at me horrified. I had actually been driven insane from the sheer amount fo death's I'd gone through. My mind had broken and I knew it. Was there no way I could have prevented this?
