Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 279: Shoving The Yeti In A Locker, And Conflicted Ascension

Rael stood still, his expression hardened as he held a baseball bat.

Then, Zafira finally threw the beat-up Yeti boss monster, and with a single swing, Rael sent it flying into the sky.

-0%! [120 Million] | (x1 Baseball Bat)

<Boss Monster Exclusive Passive Effect: You automatically execute enemies at or below 5% HP!>

<+999,626 Wisdom>

And just in time, their transformations ran out as the two collapsed to the ground.

The fight against the boss monster was pretty straightforward.

At one point, the Yeti tried to crush them both under a falling glacier, but Zafira blocked it with one hand.

That was pretty much when Rael knew the fight was already over.

And of course, for the cherry on top, they decided to finish it in style.

"Too bad it didn't drop a soul," Rael remarked.

"Same. I really wanted to try a better soul," Zafira replied with a sigh.

He raised a brow. "But you didn't even eat the other one yet...?"

"I'm saving it." Zafira shrugged. "Anyhow, what level are you at now?"

Rael rolled his eyes as he noticed the faint bragging tone in her voice.

—Zafira Sutekh (Duke Class Boss) [Level 2,609] Vitality: Tier 4 [88% / 100% HP]

"Hah... You really caught up to me," Rael remarked with a sigh. "I just reached level 2,855."

But really, the only ones he could blame were the beings who designed the leveling system.

After all, if a level 1 managed to somehow kill the Blue Orc and this Yeti monster, they'd go from level 1 to 2,505 in an instant.

But it's fair game. Killing Grade 2s is no joke after all, Rael thought, patting Zafira's head.

"So what now?" Zafira asked. "How do we ascend?"

Rael glanced at his status screen, and at the very bottom, it displayed the pop-up he was looking for.

<Ready to undergo Ascension into Grade 1>

<Would you like to Ascend? Yes / No>

<Warning!>

<Process is irreversible!>

"It's at the bottom of your status screen," Rael explained. "Are you going to Ascend right away?"

"Should I...?" Zafira muttered. "You mentioned feats. I don't think I have that many."

"Hmm?" Rael tilted his head. "I believe you're underestimating yourself. But if you don't think it's time, I'll trust your judgment."

Just in case, he decided to take a peek at his premium shop to see if there was any way to check their feats and what rank they'd get after Ascension.

And to his surprise, there actually was.

•—Premium Shop—•

Category: Ascension/Inspect/After Ascension Rank

•—Balance: 188,892,627,761 Trell—•

• Ascension Tracker [One Time Use] (Rare): 1,000,000,000 Trell

It was pretty expensive, but even so, he bought two of them.

Immediately, two old-school phones appeared in his palms, and he handed one of them over to Zafira.

"How do I use this...?" she asked, puzzled.

He read the description, then explained.

"You have to drop a bit of your blood onto the screen."

She nodded and did just that.

Immediately, the phone began to glow until finally, a hologram appeared, showcasing a few interesting details.

<Zafira Sutekh, The Colorless Goddess>

—Best feats:

4. Respected ruler of the people. (Common)

3. One of the most skilled swordswomen in her world. (Common)

2. Favorite of the Outer Gods. (Divine)

1. Heir of the Colorless Goddess. (???)

<Estimated Ascension Class: Tyrant>

"Holy shit," Rael mumbled. "This is really good... like really good. Are you going to go through with it?"

"..."

Tyrant Class was the fourth highest, with only Mythic, Calamity, and Apocalypse Class being higher.

Basically, this was a big boon, and by going through with it, she'd become several times more powerful.

However, he could clearly feel her unease.

"Rael?" Zafira turned to him. "The Hollow King explained that if you understand the feat more, then you're going to get a higher class, right?"

He paused, recalling that fact before nodding.

"Pretty much, yeah," Rael replied. "But I don't get what else you could comprehend. The Favorite of the Outer Gods probably references Anubis's blessing. The other two common ones are way too straightforward, and the Heir of the Colorless Goddess is too vague."

"I can become more than a respected ruler," Zafira said with a determined look. "And 'one of the most skilled swordswomen in her world?' I can become the best. As for the others... I'm rushing this way too much, Rael."

He stepped closer, wrapping his arms around her lovingly.

"Then I'll wait until you become the best."

He gave her a soft kiss on the lips, then took out his own device.

"It's my turn now. I want to see what I'm going to get."

He bit into his finger, causing the blood to drop onto the screen.

And in the very next moment, the same hologram appeared.

<Rael Sutekh, The True Platinum Overlord>

—Best feats:

4. The fifth person with the most negative karma in the universe. (???)

3. Survived an encounter with 4 ancient monsters: The Beast, Zarkul | Hollow King, Kareth | Ancient Mindweaver, Evelyn | The First Light, Solenne (???)

2. Obtained the Supreme Beast's inheritance. (???)

1. Survived the causality of inevitable death. (???)

<Estimated Ascension Class: Mythic>

"...Only Mythic?" Rael muttered.

His feats were pretty crazy, but even then, they weren't enough to push him into the Calamity Class, or even into Apocalypse Class.

Sure, he could settle for Mythic and practically 10x his current power, but...

This isn't hard... Rael thought. I just need to use the premium shop to find the other four people whose karma is worse than mine. Then, I need to finish watching that memory recording, and I'll have ticked off at least two of the four best feats... I'm sure of it.

Naturally, he assumed that would be enough to toss him over to Calamity Class.

As for the Apocalypse Class, he would definitely need to comprehend all four of those feats to at least some degree.

Rael let out a sigh.

There was this too.

<Unbelievable achievement acquired!>

<Survive an encounter against a Grade 9 being.>

<???>

<Your rewards are being tallied...>

<ETA: Unknown>

There was definitely something he needed to do to trigger this reward, since even after a few weeks had gone by, nothing happened.

But in the end, he felt like everything so far had been leading him back to the memory record of that strange world.

I guess that's that... Rael closed his status screen and tossed the Ascension Tracker away.

Zafira tilted her head.

"You won't ascend? Are you sure?"

"I'm sure," Rael replied confidently. "Let's finish clearing this spatial crack, and then, I'll have to go away for a little while."

He was half-expecting her to be reluctant to part; however, a faint smile appeared on her face instead.

"I'll also be leaving for a bit. I want to learn the origin of the Colorless Goddess, and I'm going to try convincing Anubis to help me," Zafira said softly.

Now I'm the one who's reluctant to part ways... Rael thought with a conflicted sigh.

Still, he respected her decision in the same way she respected his.

And of course, after the two of them settled their personal matters, they planned to finally expand Celestara's territory.

Not by a single city, but a few countries, if not the entire continent.

After all... it was done playing around.

He extended his hand with a slight smile, and Zafira soon accepted.

"Let's go kill the rest of the monsters, shall we?"
